Generally good. Not up to a 5 star that it should be. A few too many small misses. Steak over done, burger well done, ice cream Sunday almost completely melted when they brought it to the table. I would have expected the server to question that, not for me to reject it.

Disappointed! Food was average for this price range (quality and cook of steaks was sub par). Menu was limited for some reason and filet was replaced with top sirloin. Very inattentive service with no bread served, no water refills and long waits to clear dirty dishes.

The wife and I attended todays cooking and wine ... which was nice. My only complaints are the room was VERY LOUD and the chairs were made from toothpicks. Got to meet some new locals, which was fun. The stuffed mushroom app and Coco van entree were pretty tasty. The pear and almond ice cream wasnt to my taste.

My wife and I had lunch after wine tasting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We shared pumpkin risotto arancini (which was amazing - very creamy in a crispy shell), a steak salad (also very good - quality steak, perfect medium rare), and a side of pumpkin risotto. We also got a side of the gorgonzola cream sauce from the steak & gorgonzola pasta dish. Very good as a dipping sauce for the steak. Well definitely plan to go back.

I rarely write reviews We visited the restaurant yesterday evening to celebrate my daughter getting her A&M class ring. Reservations for 8 people at 630 and we arrived 15 mins early. Took a moment to get seated, and a bit longer to get service seemed odd as the restaurant was nearly empty. Then we found out there was a VIP tour going on upstairs. Wine was great, appetizers were good, when we ordered main dishes it went downhill. What started out as a quiet dinner ended up being a room so loud (VIPs joined) we couldn t talk across the table. The VIP room apparently ordered main dishes upstairs before joining us, and the kitchen was backed up. Took us over an hour from ordering our main courses to them arriving. The sides were all cold seemed they made plates ahead of time waiting on the entree? My filet (supposedly 6 ozs) was a little larger than a 50 cent piece. Pork chop was also cold. For the price of the meal, I was very disappointed. Not the experience we were looking for on a special day.

Food is mediocre and overpriced. I was charged $22 for an omlette, which on the old menu was around $13. There was no OJ for the mimosas on a sunday brunch; while the folks sitting across from us were enjoying a Mimosa. The service is pathetically slow. The ambiance is great. The fact you can get a bottle of wine for a reasonable price with a meal is the redeeming quality and what makes the experience. Will I go back. Sure. I just need to lower my expectations further

Going for dinner for wife s birthday . The one who greeted us was our server. Once she sat us, it was 15 minutes before she came back to the table. Ordered 2 salads and she said the bread would be out . Turned into another 10 min . Ordered entrees and ended up waiting for them. Ordered decaf coffe and split dessert . Came back to tell us they were out of decaf. We said expresso would be ok . Here comes 1 expresso , she said she would make another and be out Asked for sweet and low. Asked for check , which was brought And card and check sat on the table for 15 minutes while she tried to make a flambeau at a near by table. Saw a manager from upstairs who was there and took to process the bill. There was a big wedding reception upstairs and no doubt most staff was assigned the party . Our server was overwhelmed and no one was there to assist her.Big disappointment for such a well thought of dining experience . We spent 2 nights at the Villa and were satisfied with all at the Villa , including a good tasting bfast.

The food was very good, although the first bites of the flat iron steak were tough the rest was good and the pasta and sauce were superb. The dessert fudge sundae was easily the best Ive had and the best part of the experience outside of the delicious wine.

We visited on 3/5/23. The atmosphere and ambiance were really good. We were late after our wine tour started late but they were accommodating. We wanted to sit at the back with a view of the vineyard/ barren grape vines but there was a private event. We were asked to order entrees within 15 minutes. We ordered with in 5 as we were hungry. Our server said the chef will close the kitchen to cater for the private party. We are all our bread with oil (it was good) the food took 40 minutes to come out! (1 star) Husband and myself ordered steak and stuffed chicken. They were both average, Nothing extraordinary. For dessert we had the highly recommended goat cheese cake by our vine tour guy. He claimed it s the best desert he ever had and we had to have it even if you don t like cheese cake or goat cheese. I asked specifically if you can taste the goat cheese as I m not a fan he was adamant that you can t and that he despises goat cheese and it s the best dessert ever! BIG MISTAKE! It s the worst dessert I ve ever had! It was disgusting! The apple pie kinda topping didn t work and didn t taste good even by itself. The crumbs on top and sides were soggy. The cheese cake it self couldn t decide on temperature cold, room temperature?! And I could distinctly taste goat cheese. It was so bad that I had to change the flavor with some of my left over mashed potatoes. Thank goodness I had some left. Than I ordered coffee and it came completely cold! I m not exaggerating it wasn t even warm. I m so disappointed at the amount that I paid for the quality of food that I got. I will definitely be touring the vinery again but will not be eating here.

Excellent food. All dishes ordered were perfect. The menu is somewhat traditional, but with a touch. I feel taking a star off a bit harsh. But dishes were not served at the same time, and took a bit of wait, despite the restaurant being not busy. The loo was out of napkins. Just really small things. Still highly recommend to stop by for relaxed lunch with nice vine and friendly texas folks

Such a great place to relax and unwind. Perfect, cozy atmosphere. Our waiter was very attentive. A word of wisdom, secure your reservation 2-3 weeks in advance for special occasions, i.e. Valentines. They book up and may turn away walk ins and reservations the day of. Becoming a member of Messina Hof adds value via discounts for food and wine, too. Dont forget to attend their winery tour and sampling some time. Best of luck!

Priced as fine dining but falls short. The food is over priced and is a mix and match of in house items and obviously preprepared frozen items. The things made in house are very good but paired with mediocre items brings the whole dish down. For the price there are much better options in town. The servers were great, informative and kind but it did take rather long for our food to come out. This might be an intentional move to try to get people to drink more wine and enjoy the atmosphere, but Im not a fan. The atmosphere itself is fine. It was s bit chilly inside (during winter) so i never ended up taking off my jacket, but that didnt bother me too much. The decor is kind of random abd the front room is a bit too dark, but overall things are just fine. This place is okay, but for the price should be better.

Roses on each of the tables, and floor to ceiling windows. I ordered the gorgonzola chicken and he had the bone-in ribeye. Everything was cooked to perfection! And dont even get me started on the wine pairings and the raspberry cheesecake! The Riesling was my absolute favorite. I purchased a bottle to take home and top off our romantic evening. Surprising disappointing two star food made shockingly painful by the five star price. Staff attempted to make it less painful but a meal that cant be eaten is just bad food at an outrageous price. Charge a five star price, serve an awful meal then give you a free drink and a small discount is a sweet money making scheme. I trust the restaurant will enjoy my money, cause they will get no more. Far too many good restaurants in the city to play such games.

Do a nice tasting and head over for a meal and you ll waiter will help pair your favorite wine to a great dinner. The bone in rib-eye was extremely well prepared and surprisingly affordable for the quality of meat. I didn t expect the lollypop bone nor it being placed on potatoes with a excellent sauce dripping off the top. Everything flowed really well together.

I made a reservation for Friday at 6:30 because I knew it would probably be busy. My husband and I were finally getting around to celebrating our anniversary and when I made the reservation, I told them we were celebrating. We show up about 10 minutes early. My husband dropped me off at the door because of the rain and went to park the car. No one addressed me waiting until he walked in. No big deal. We were seated and handed menus and our waiter said he would be right back. In the mean time, we realized our table was horribly wobbly - like uncomfortably so. When our waiter finally came back after 5 minutes, his suggestion was to use our butter knife to steady the table. Seriously? That was the only help/suggestion he offered. By that time, he put our water out and the table was so wobbly that our glasses of water almost spilled when my husband got up. He said forget it and just used the butter knife to steady the table. A new knife was never given to him. We placed an appetizer order and requested the recommended wine pairing. The antipasto platter with the Rose was delicious and perfectly paired. We never got any bread while tables around us received two baskets (I m a carb fiend so this was important to me! Lol) We placed salad orders and dinner requests, again with the recommended wine pairing. Salads were delicious and we had plenty of time to eat our courses before the next one came. By the time our dinner arrived, we had to ask another member of the waitstaff to check on our wine selections as our meals were almost done and they had not arrived. Our waiter brought them out. I had the lamb which was perfectly cooked and delicious, my husband had the duck and left nothing on his plate. After dinner, we ordered dessert. I wanted the bananas foster and my husband ordered the cherries jubilee. Our waiter came back about 5 minutes later to tell us these desserts were ordered for two, so we could pick one or have both but it would be a lot. We ordered the bananas foster. The dessert was the only thing that didn t impress me. It was simply some warmed through bananas in an ice cream bowl with a scoop of vanilla and caramel sauce. It was more of a soup by the time we got it, which makes me think it sat for a second before being served. Overall the food was great but our service left something to be desired. For the prices they are charging, I would want the staff to be knowledgeable about the wine pairings and also be attentive. I felt sort of ignored and also a bit bothered regarding the table issue and the waiters solution. I m not sure I will return mainly because of our service. I love their wine so I ll probably just stick to supporting them that way and stay out of their restaurant.

My true rating is a 4.5 out of 5, but in good conscience I would rather round down. The main course, especially for its price, was a magnificent 5, and is possibly the best in BCS. Unfortunately the service is a solid 4 at best. You may have a better experience if you arrive earlier in the evening. My highest possible compliments to the chef. The duck was absolutely incredible. Luxuriously tender, excellent selection of herbs and spices, and perfectly seasoned. Same goes for the very unique and very tender ribeye steak with its uniform Maillard browning and tear-inducing merlot demi-glace. Its a rare and beautiful thing when I can find a steak which competes with my own, and to find one in BCS is a true gem. The in-house wine pairings were also excellent. I would describe the service as cordial yet cold. We were not greeted for several minutes upon entry, nor was our water refilled at any point in the evening. From the first minute, we were treated as if we were a burden rather than honored guests.

We were staying at an RV park nearby last weekend. Did curbside pickup for our anniversary dinner. Hubby had the ribeye and I had the flatiron steak. Both were delicious although my flatiron was a little too rare for medium . Couldn t eat part of it. The mashed potatoes were very tasty and the vegetables were crisp and flavorful. We got the white chocolate créme brûlée for dessert it was great! I wish times were different where we could have eaten there and visited the winery, but thank goodness for curbside! Ready on time and friendly, masked service.

The food was absolutely amazing! We had the Gorgonzola Chicken and the ice cream with cherry Jubilee. Our server was really great and very attentive. She recommended a few items and over all the food was amazing.

The Vintage House Restaurant at Messina Hof winery is excellent, particularly for dinner. The steaks, appetizers, and desserts are especially good. The back dining room has a view of the vines that is beautiful at sunset.

My post vineyard tour visit to The Vintage House was a wise decision. The wait staff was pleasant and efficient. My vegetarian meal was excellent.

While getting to dine among the vines of the Messina Hof winery is a highlight of The Vintage House, guests will likely have a hit or miss experience here. The menu, which is changed periodically, is often ambitious, but frequently falls short in its execution. Service is equally sporadic, ranging from highly competent to nearly clueless. All in all, The Vintage House is worth a try at least once, but diners need to avoid setting their expectations too high.

What an amazing place to finish off the cellar tasting tour! My husband and I were celebrating our birthdays and we had a blast! The restaurant is very intimate. We sat next to the window overlooking the vineyards while the sun was setting. It was very romantic. The food was exquisite! However it was the service that really made the experience. Daniel was our server and he was amazing! He was so friendly and funny and really took care of us. He knew the menu very well and made excellent suggestions. He never let our glasses go dry! At the end of the night we had forgot something on the table and he sprinted it out to us in the parking lot! We will be coming here again and again!

This was a horrific experience. We went on our anniversary. First, we got there only to find that their specialty item, chateaubriand for two, which is prominently featured on their menu online and the specialty of the house....was NOT being served at all. That was fun. Also the server had no idea how to serve a bottle of wine properly. She served my wife before I had approved the bottle or even tasted it. The manager was totally unconcerned about this. In the end, a winery should be able to do better. I wrote a detailed email to the manager and even offered to assist with training the staff...for free. To date I have gotten no response. I will not be going again.
