Visit every time I visit brownsville and the last time. Ordered the full deluxe beef nachos and half order of the chicken nachos and to my surprise the orders were smaller, no flavor to the food and very greasy and the price was higher which I was not surprised but the quality should have been good. My party ended up with indigestion after all the grease. Informed the waitress and she stated she would not charge us for the small order but we received the bill and told us she could not adjust the bill that we would have to speak to the manager. At that point we were ready to leave since staff was busy with a big party. I even Informed the cashier and she only stated oh. Only good experience was a young man that took our drink order, very friendly and great customer service compared to our waitress.

I was surprised this was a casual dining restaurant serving Tex-Mex food by the name of the restaurant. The tortilla chips tasted like they were fresh ground from dried corn. Yum! And the chili powder used in the enchiladas was a darker, richer, and smokier flavor than most Mexican restaurants use in the Rio Grande Valley. Delicious!

Came back after a few months back this time. I ordered the fajita nachos again, but they were a bit shysy with the beef vs. My last visit. Was good, but come on now, For beans and cheese, yea, Id say I got stiffed and missed out on the fajitas guess the cook felt being shysty that day. And thats because I went on a Thursday and early at 6:30 pm. The fish tacos were good to yet a bit pricey for 3, and you dont get full. It felt more like an appetizer ranther than a full meal. Dunno abt that, and that was our experience this pastime. We were dissapointed. Well, I havent been here in over 10 years or so. I came by only because I used to order the nachos here yrs back and was hoping they had the same taste, and to my surprise, they did. Yet the prices have gone outrageously high. i feel their prices are too high and are well overrated. Yes, this place has been here for years, but the Prices are always high. The Enchiladas had lost the taste Years Ago.. they had an awesome recipe years ago that now it is a chili beans a can the lazy way or short cut not worth the price. But I didnt get that. I just thought Id mention it. Yet got the tampiquenia plate was fair and well served. So for a dish once in a blue moon, I guess Ill go by, but my ticket is $50.00, you dont even spend that in a high-end restaurant. Here are better pics of the menu, and you can be the judge. I just feel a plate with beans, cheese, and chips. is super high.

While the food is very good, earning a solid 4 stars, it s the exceptional service and atmosphere that elevate the entire dining experience. The one problem is the chicken tender crust or whatever you call it was ripping apart very quickly and was difficult to eat. The combination of the excellent service and the charming setting that makes Vermillion a standout. The service is impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff and ensure you have a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is equally outstanding, offering an inviting ambiance that makes it perfect for any occasion, from casual dinners to special celebrations. My pics aren t of food but rather poi about this restaurant. We went out of our way to come back and I m glad we did! The onion rings are spiced and lightly battered! Oh so Delish! I had very delicious fish tacos and my husband fajitas. He said the flavor was excellent but the meat a bit chewy. The charro beans are wonderful and I walked away very satisfied again! I took a large cup of their chicken vegetable soup home for tomorrow s lunch. I recall just how great it was. The old wall phone still works and it s fun to hear the old traditional ring. Since 1934 and I m banking on them seeing 100 years!

Been coming here since 1977. My fave has always been the shrimp plate... simply outstanding. I had mine with an ice cold Dos XX from the draft. As a bonus, the have a Touch Tunes Juke box...just download the app, procure the credits and play your fave music. This place is a true Brownsville original. Came back and had to try an ice cold Blue Moon, from the draft and their infamous, nachos. Pro tip...get plenty of jalapeños. One of my guests tried the Buffalo Chicken sandwich...it was a talp order! Give Vermillion a try!

Visted on Saturday March 16th for lunch, party of 3. The food smelled delicious so imagine my disappointment when I see a long strand of hair as Im about to take my first bite. I quietly sent my food back with the server. I was taken back by the manager on duty for two reasons. They were apologetic and offered a free desert, however she seemed offended that I decided not to order anything else from the kitchen. Obviously the kitchen staffs hygiene werent on point, why would I order something else? After I explained my reasons for not wanting to order anything else she proceeded to hug me without having asked. Its 2024, its not ok to touch someone you dont know. Please respect other peoples boundaries, perhaps ask if its ok to give a hug. Server was nice, the restaurants bathroom was clean. Not coming back though, Ill go somewhere that doesnt serve hair, thanks!

Great watering hole for family gatherings. The service is great. Love the atmosphere. But if you re looking for a quiet place to eat, don t bother to come here. Food has been good so far. No complaints here. The full order of their fajita nachos are great, especially if you re sharing for two - three people. Make sure you order the avocados on the nachos and not on the side or you ll get barely any. They load it up pretty good on the nachos and it s not cheap. Their buffalo chicken sandwich and their Hot Stuff burgers are a great recommendation from me. Parking: There are more parking spots behind the restaurant across the street, right next to the feeder road.

Stopped in after attending the Sombrero Fest in Brownsville to get a beverage & lunch. Very busy but seated right away. Great pleasant staff. The parade was going on that night at 7 pm, but we left before it started. Food was fantastic and so were the drinks. We had loaded nachos, roast beef dinner and beef tacos. All great and tasty. Family owned restaurant & well ran. Reasonable prices. Clean restrooms. Parking: We parked kiddy-corner from the restaurant as they have 2 parking lots available for customers. Watch the signs.

For newbies to the area, like us: this is worth a try! It s a local institution a friend whose family has lived here for 3 generations recommended it. We went together with our husbands for dinner, specifically for the nachos and micheladas. If you are a gringo like me who likes fresh toppings on their nachos, ask for lettuce and cilantro on top. If you like avocado, guacamole, sour cream/crema, limes, or onions, you can ask for those too. Otherwise, they comes with meat, refried beans, and cheese only. The melty-ness of the cheese is just divine. I had a michelada using Stella Artois, which was refreshing and really cuts through the greasiness of a good nacho. You can choose local beers, standard beers, or Mexican beers, too. My friend s spouse asked for a whisky neat, but they don t carry hard liquor at the moment. The dining area is on the smaller side. Get a booth if you can; they feel inviting, private, and home-like. Give it a try! At the very least, you won t regret it. We stayed till closing, and will be back again in the future.

The atmosphere was great. We went on a Sunday for Brunch and it wasn t super packed. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We ordered the Fajita Nachos and Ceviche. Both were awesome. The fajita nachos had cheese on every nacho and plenty of steak to last the entire meal. The ceviche tasted amazing. If you love a strong lime-y flavor, this is the ceviche for you. Additionally, the accommodations for my shellfish allergy were taken seriously, and by my lack of a reaction, their food handling is up to par. We asked a family member to pick up the order and they got there at 5:35 PM to pick it up. Management told family member they will have the order ready in 30 minutes. Family member called us and we called the restaurant to find out why we needed to wait way past the time we asked for and they had no excuse and we had to wait. We finally got our food. When it was time to eat we realized the party pates were mostly rice, beans and guacamole and a small chunk of beef and chicken. Chicken was super dry that we would struggle to pass it down and the beef was extremely chewy. We had no meat left to eat but each party plate still had alot of rice, beans and guacamole left. The service nor the food is worth $100+ per party plate.

You can t go wrong going to the Vermillion. Food is always good and the service excellent as well. Headed back again to dine there today. Try the Pancho Villa, it s outstanding and the fajita nachos with avocados are a must. Thank you Vermillion for all of the years providing tasty meals to your customers.

My first time visiting and I loved it. The food was great, the drinks were refreshing, in the service without standing. Plus, this place supports touch tunes, so I was able to play some of my favorite music while dining with friends Vegetarian options: The menu is quite extensive and has vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: The place definitely is kid friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: While the entrance is a little narrow, a wheelchair should be able to fit without problems.

Shared a Tampiqueña and a side of guac/chips with the wife. Plenty of food for both of us. Great food, great service and the BL was ice cold.....11-9-22 stopped in for a snack, saw something new. Prime rib nachos, same concept as the fajita nachos but but I found them better tasting. Absolutely delicious. How did you make nachos better????, eat em with steak..... Definitely have them again,/ 6-6-2023 stopped in for dinner. Had the Pancho villa, wife had the fajitas Monterrey. Absolutely delicious, very well served, had to get a to go box. Definitely be back
