I gave a review when they first opened with 5 stars. We have not been back in a while because it was too busy and the wait for food was a long time. I was super excited to try again. There are too any negatives from the lobster being the size of a large shrimp to corn that was old. I heard atleast 3 waitresses express all of the times they were out of. The place is dirty and bench cushions are all tore up.

If I could give this place Zero stars I would! When we were sat there was only one other family. After we order waitresses only came to the able once. I order the crab platter and my husband ordered a steak. About 20 minutes after order she came and said the steak takes a little longer( he ordered an 8oz). We said okay no problem then about another 30-40 minutes went by and still no food and four to five other family s that came in after us and all got their food. They were not busy AT ALL!! We paid for our drinks and left! Also the bathroom had not toilet paper or paper towels. I couldn t ask anyone because there was no one to be found, everyone was in the kitchen. Needless to say NEVER GOING BACK, the worst experience I have ever had! Waffle House would have been better!

Was looking forward to trying this place because I liked the restaurant that was there before. It was empty so we thought service would be good. NOT! The waitress never checked on us. Sat there waiting for drinks forever. The food took forever as well. It tasted pretty good once we got it, but I think we will be spending our money elsewhere.

There is not a ton of choices on the menu as it is, so you can imagine how disappointing it was when at 8:00pm on a Friday night, our waitress comes back to us three times to tell us they are out of several items. Fries, hushpuppies, snow crab and who knows what else. There were murmurings at tables around us about being out of food items. After paying for our appetizer, we left. Opted for a dinner at home.

Visited Rusty Shells for the first time with my son whom was excited to have seafood . If you re looking for a seafood with extra seasoning like Cajun,lemon pepper etc this is not the place . There is more of the buttery which I like anyways . Food was 10/10 the only thing that wasn t so well was the customer service . She looked like and acted like she didn t want to work and we were already done with our food by the time she asked if we wanted a refill and that s cause i made eye contact .

Absolutely the worst service Ive ever had, waited for an hr and a half and watched people get there food when they ordered after me, after our wait time they brought me one plate out that was cold and told me there was 15 minutes wait on crawfish knowing everyone of the customers received theres already. The question is are we getting the correct amount of pounds of crawfish for which we re paying for? My daughter found this business on social media. We called in an order for 10 pounds. The crawfish were divided into aluminum pans (1-2lb, , and 2-4lbs) for a cost or $ 83.44. The crawfish were delicious. We placed another order a week or so later (2-3lbs, and 1-4lb) The first time I had the 2lb, this time I had a 3lb. I questioned if I had the right pan because it appeared to be less than the 2lb previously purchased. So on yesterday we decided to get some crawfish; we called several times to order ahead for 10 lbs. However, the line was busy. We arrived and went in and set in the waiting area for a hostess. After waiting a while; she come over to us but by then we had decided to get a table and dine in; thinking it would be faster. We (2 adults 1 child) sat at the table the server came and took our order 10 pounds of crawfish (1-4lb and 1-3lb) to eat at restaurant and 1 kids fish meal and (1-3lb to go). About 45 minutes later the server comes over to say sorry for the delay but they were boiling a new batch and it would be out soon. So, ok we re expecting hot crawfish. We waited another 15 to 20 minutes and the crawfish placed before me were Not steaming hot, Not warm; but room temperature and at the bottom less than warm more like cool. We were just really to eat at this point and very disappointed. Service is extremely slow. The server came back and I asked where are the 3lbs to go? She said oh in the back; they are ready. She brought them out to the table in the aluminum pan covered in foil. I opened it and there were less than the 3lbs I was given to dine in. I asked another server to check it; and of course she came back and said it was correct. These three encounters with this business raised the question; if I m actually receiving the correct quantity of pounds for the amount I m being charged. The pans were all the same size therefore the amounts should have been the same in the restaurant. Clearly I could see it wasn t the same. Unfortunately, in this world the honor system is not something we can always trust. Some businesses are just in it for the money; with no regard for the time and money spent by the customers who wish to support them. Most of the other businesses we ve tried place the crawfish and shrimp in a plastic bag; which weighs less than an aluminum pan and gives a more accurate weight. Even if this business prefers the aluminum pan the number of pounds should be the same and look the same. The crawfish are good when served warm, however you can t really be sure if you re getting the correct pounds you re paying for. The weight issue may not be intentional; just human error. I would suggest customers have your own portable food scale to weigh your own order or the owner can simply have a scale at the pickup up counter as a courtesy to ensure the customers that support the business are getting what they paid for. I understand businesses are designed to make money. However, it should not be at the expense or loss of those customers supporting the business. This issue was really disappointing; we were very excited and pleased to find this business and support them. Food: 3/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 2/5

I order live crawfish for our on boil at home. It s still early on in the season so the price was high but the crawfish was already super clean and didn t have a lot of dead ones. Amazing food!! Crawfish is always amazing, seasoned well, spicy but not overly doing it, crab is great also, very meaty and very flavorful. Hard to mess up potatoes and corn but he seasons it generously and it s really damn good. His prices aren t expensive for what he offers and his specials he has are pretty awesome as well. Favorite seafood spot in central tx by far!! We had good service, our waitress was Rosa and she was super sweet and attentive. Definitely recommend for seafood lovers!! Ordered delivery of crawfish and crab. Crawfish tasted like freezer burnt fish water and they were mushy like they were overcooked. The crab wouldn t come out of the shells and when it did, it was also very overcooked and watery. I ended up throwing $50 worth of food away. I think I will stick with Yummy Crab.

We had the crawfish and it was delicious, cannot deny that! However my sister had the catfish and it was very underwhelming she said it was cold and small pieces. We would have sent it back but the service took forever we waited well over an hour if not longer for our food. Our server rarely checked on us and the restaurant was not super crowded. Also the kids meal was not worth $10. The mac and cheese is Kraft and the nuggets were not great. My son hardly ate them. Love the new restaurant! We have the choice to sit inside or outside. The greeter was friendly, and the food was great and very good. Now I will say the waitress was friendly, but once she brought our order she forgot to come back and check on us. Not once did we get a refill in our drinks. And with the yummy butter on our shrimp meal and our crawfish (YUM) we needed our drinks refilled. We will go back either way. But maybe a bit earlier, since we had trouble finding parking.

This place is the real deal! We live in Georgetown and heard about Rusty Shells from a local Facebook group. With how hard this crawfish season has been so far, we couldn t get to Belton fast enough when a Facebook post by the owner advertising awesome prices for the day was posted. My husband and I each got 3lbs of crawfish and were not disappointed! Great seasoning, great prices, great service. The restaurant s Facebook page is a great place to see the daily deals and pricing of the food here. This will be a great outdoor spot as well! Can t wait to keep coming back!

This is always be one of my favorite seafood restaurants. I used to live in Temple, and every weekend we would go to Rusty s to eat. I remember when they were in the food truck. Always warm and welcoming smiles. Always polite and they do their best to make sure your food is hot and ready to your standards. Now that I live in Austin, I always make Rusty s my go to restaurant when I come from out of town. If you haven t come to visit them, I would definitely and highly recommend them first to any restaurant in town. The atmosphere of the restaurant is always welcoming too. How this place has a 4.9 out of 5 is a total mystery. Service was slow but most importantly the food was absolutely horrible. The so called boiled shrimp was ez peel bag shrimp that you get in the frozen section of a grocery store. Not fresh shrimp boiled like traditional Cajun boiled shrimp. No flavor. Same for the potatoes, corn and sausage And to top it off they smothered it in some sort of white sauce.? If youre looking for traditional Cajun style boiled seafood, this aint it. Also the crab legs were over cooked and hard to peel. Stear clear of this place.

Rusty Shells is now in their own restaurant space. The whole team makes a heckuva crab, lobster, shrimp and seasonal crawfish boil. I can say that between places in Austin, Temple and Killeen, this crew knocks it outta the park for food and service. The flavor of the food was good but our entire platter with Crab, shrimp, sausage, and potatoes came out cold... and there was a lot of flies. There was only about 6 tables at any given time.

The BEST place to get seafood in all of Central Texas. We drive from the Austin area to Belton just for Rusty Shells. Their whole menu is absolutely amazing but the lobster tail, shrimp, and corn on the cob are my favorites! Their customer service is awesome! Definitely recommend and 10/10!

WOW!!! To say that Rusty Shells is a local gem is putting it mildly! My family and I had an amazing time while having their combo meal and talking with the owner and his family. Having countless experiences at other seafood restaurants, I can tell you hands down that their food is unbelievably delicious! There was one obvious difference from Rusty s than the vast majority of their competitors, and that s the passion in making theirs taste so delicious. There s a bit of an art form to cooking any seafood, and some are more challenging than others. Shellfish is so easy to overcook, and getting three different shellfish cooked perfectly is its own challenge. One simple word . Perfection! There s an obvious element of making it better that really shines through. From their secret sauce that s made daily to the perfectly cooked seafood, they truly make it better. This will turn into your go to seafood place without a doubt! There is one drawback, and it s getting to this wonderful gem. If you re not familiar with the location, it can be a bit tricky, but there s a road connecting Forest Drive with the Southbound access road that leads to them. Just take a few moments to familiarize yourself with it, and you ll be fine!

Overall, everyone liked our meals we had, but all 4 of us made the same comment about everything that we had was over salty except the corn on the cob. Fried shrimp and fried catfish were both good. French fries and hush puppies were ok just to much salt. There seemed to be only 1 waitress. We had to interrupt her, talking with another table to ask for our check to pay, we needed to get back to work.

Everything was really good! I got the shrimp plate, which came with sausage, corn and potatoes. One of the best things to come to Belton in a long time. A must visit. Plenty of outdoor seating, adequate parking, dog friendly, kid friendly and excellent food packed to the rim and every bit worth the money spent. The food is seasoned well, the atmosphere is inviting and the staff are welcoming. If I had anything negative to say, which is not a true complaint - I would encourage them to keep the music but turn it down a bit. It would be nice to have the music as a background and not the main show. It would allow for patrons to talk and hear better. This place is definitely worth every star!

Best cajun in the temple/belton area. The owner is a really good dude and aims to please his customers. The wife and I had ordered some food and the order was wrong when we got home. We called him and he told us to come back and he would fix it. He fixed it and apologized numerous times.
