Excellent shot to revisit yesteryear. Of course thats the 80s and 90s but for toys and games those were the golden years. Compared to other arcade and shops this place is hands down the best. Not only their awesome you displays and collections but their collection of arcade games and consoles that are free okay with a day pass. Highly recommended. Though I thought the kraken was a lot scarier in the movie...

So much fun and nostalgia! What an amazing idea. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I loved that all the games were unlocked for unlimited play. The man running the show was so knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me with a pinball trick and answered all of my flowing questions about different games and even when I asked about Tamagotchis, he pulled out a keychain full of them for me to look at. An incredible interactive museum! I hope to be back again soon. Update: I went back again two days later, this time with my husband, after an initial solo trip. It was super fun again and we played some two-player games, including completing the full House of the Dead game, which was made possible by unlimited lives, I can t even imagine how much it would have cost in regular plan mode. I also finally conquered the Dance Dance machine beginner levels, it was so fun to have the time and freedom to figure the games out with unlimited play. So much fun, highly recommend a visit or more!

They had a scavenger hunt, which added a layer of fun and learning (we had to look up a dewback, and we did find it). My friend and I had a great time walking through the space and looking at all of the toy displays. We appreciated the casual atmosphere which allowed us to observe the collection and share our memories, which was better than reading placards about the toy s history. Plus, we were able to research any question we had on our own. We played a couple of games, too. This place would be great to get to know someone and for a family to take their kids and share their childhood memories.

Only basicly the 70s and 80s toys and to me $17 is pretty spendy to not even get a souvenir the proverbial BUT the cashier lady was personable, kind, and let us get a few pictures and give our support pets a cool spot out of the heat. PS- The response from the owner here is super unhealthy and full of lies. They have cameras there feel FREE to post our interaction in NO WAY did I try to extort you all. As my many hundreds of other review spots can verify I simply ASKED if it was okay to take pictures inside as I do reviews and the interaction was kind and courteous from your employee. I stated I was grateful to be able to even come in. Now after your response AS ALL CAN SEE Id for sure suggest not spending the $17. to see mostly 20 years worth of toys as you yourself said. Your employee stated it was mostly toys from the 70s and 80s. But your response is factually an indication of how the ownership is. I feel sad for the employees based on your interaction here. Again our interaction was good bet you DONT post the interaction from your cameras proving youre lying because you didnt like an honest review. In My opinion through all of this there are WAY better ways to spend $17 in Austin and feel you got your monies worth!

If I werent injured I would have played Dance Dance Revolution constantly. :-) It wasnt very crowded when we were there (a Wednesday, late morning) so there was no waiting to play, and nearly all the games were working. Nice little touristy stop. Lots of cool memorabilia, a couple dozen retro arcade/pinball machines and a few stations of old school Sega/Nintendo/PS consoles hooked up to tube style TVs. We had a lot of fun doing the scavenger hunt. Its a nice affordable stop for a couple hours of fun. The young woman working the front of house was very welcoming and funny. I was there in late January during a weekday, so definitely not peak tourist time. Its a fun stop, but not a cant miss sort of thing so I wouldnt recommend waiting to get in if its busy.

The people at the front were extremely nice. However, I wish the museum part was a bit more organized and maybe had some more history postings. The games are really what made this place for me there were a lot of options that made it a lot of fun. My friend and I spent a lot of time in here playing games. We were there till about close and we never felt rushed just felt very welcomed. I wish nothing, but the best for this place and the workers there. The reason I am not giving the five stars is due to the bit of mess that the museum part is.

We took our kids to this museum, and it was a big hit for all of us. There are impressive and diverse collections from the 70s and forward of toys, posters, playing cards, arcade/pinball games, console games, and computers. We played our family through the Oregon Trail. We played The Simpsons 4-player arcade game together. So many beloved authentic old gadgets to interact with... I played Sonic The Hedgehog on an actual Genesis with an actual tube TV, and then played a round on a real Speak-n-Spell. I got to practice Asteroids, a game Im not sure Ive ever played but have always known must exist. I didnt even get around to the NES! As a computer history nerd, I appreciated the exhibit of game consoles going back to the very beginning in the 70s, and the workbench full of old Apple, Commodore, Atari, and Radio Shack hardware. Im not sure anything has ever tickled my nostalgia as thoroughly as this place. I expect well be back!

Tons of fun for 80 s babies. Picking out the toys you had when you were a kid. The free play games are in good condition. The best part is the scavenger hunt. Plenty challenging and keeps you hanging out for a while! Hidden gem of Austin.

You know how you would have your bedroom and then your parents would yell at you to clean up, and you would say it is clean, and they point out that everything is everywhere, and you say that it is all where you know it is, and there would be a slight fuss? This amazing establishment is that moment in time after your first talking back, and before it goes further. If this is the curators intention? I dont know. But I for one appreciated it. The amount of gems to play on the arcades, consoles, and pinball machines is incredible. The displays are all clearly handcrafted with attention to detail that you wont find at other museums. The amount of toys and games and cabinets and otherwise is amazing. I really enjoyed it. The only thing that would make it better would be if the owner had a technician on hand with the same passion and technical knowhow to keep some machines in better working order (funky joystick here, mushy button there, pinball machine bits, etc). I think any neuro-atypical person that grew up in the 80s and or 90s would love it, and the others that grew up then might have some fun too lol.

If people came here with the expectation that it is a toy museum with every retro game imaginable, than you should definitely find value and enjoyment from this place. This place deserves repeat visits if you are into retro gaming and don t have access to retro consoles like I do. I went here to play turok and golden eye. The entrance fee is more than reasonable since you get access to all the games all day. I came multiple days to unwind after working from my hotel and just wanted to play those games and see if I can beat them and that s exactly what I got. The owner and staff are really nice and leave you alone to do want you want to do. It isn t crowded so I didn t feel like I was monopolizing playtime for any console ever. My goto spot whenever I m downtown.

Nostalgia for sure... every toy we grew up with could now be seen by my kids for what real toys were compared to their stuff lol. Its not very interactive with TV screens showing random clips of the cartoons or commercials of the toys but there are a lot of old school video games to play for free! Truthfully the displays could be organized and displayed a little better as they are just cluttered together. Its not super big inside for the amount of toys they have. The entrance fee is a little high but we got a good amount of time in there for sure.

Super cool spot. Tons of 80s/early 90s stuff. Great for any Star Wars fan since they have a nice Star Wars section. They even have Cadillacs and dinosaurs which is not something I thought I d ever say. For $17 you get access to the museum and all the games are unlimited play. And they re open until midnight on Saturday and can come back as many times as you want during the day. Pretty sweet deal.

It was like visiting the House on the Rock. The different exhibits/collections of all sorts of toys from 60s through about 2000s were crowded into their small 3 room spaces. We saw lots of what we knew, and enjoyed it. The staff was helpful.

One of my favorite spots downtown. They not only have a large selection of classic arcade games but they also offer a large selection of local Austin beers and ciders. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating and enthusiastically answered all my questions about the various toy collections and classic video games they have available to play. Who knew someone actually still owns a functioning Virtual Boy ? Kids will enjoy the classic games and their parents will revert back to their inner 8 year old selves when they relive their fond memories of N64 and endless hours playing with their cherished childhood toys. The new space is more than twice the size of the previous space and has allowed for an ever growing toy collection in display. They also have a large classic toy selection available for purchase. Definitely worth the time if you are in downtown Austin and want to go on a fantastic nostalgia trip and enjoy a beer while doing it !
