They conceded on all of the major terms to my ex and her attorney and did not go beyond the bare minimum on my case. I was not properly prepped for the mediation by them. I was also told the case would be 2-3 months and it dragged out to 12 months, there was only movement on this timeline when I constantly checked in and has to push them to move things along. It was like pulling teeth with them. Paralegals were incompetent and mean as well. I cant recommend them to anybody.

Jillian French is truly the best lawyer you could ever ask for if you are involved in a Family Law matter. In the most difficult part of my life after being served with divorce/custody papers, very unexpectedly, Jillian was referred to me by a friend who previously chose Vaught Law Firm. I called the firm on a Sunday, after being served the day before, on a Saturday. On a Sunday, Tracey answered the phone immediately when I called. It was a Sunday afternoon and she took my call right away, and in a calm, centered, unbelievably peaceful, and reassuring way she told me I would be speaking to a lawyer the very next day. I hired Jillian the following day, Monday. We went to court 4 days later. Jillian is whip-smart. She will prepare you for any situation that is in front of you and stay by your side. This firm is caring. They are real people that are there for you. This firm is a team of professionals that are incredibly synergistic. It was Jillian and her team, Stephany and Candi that I will forever recommend to anyone that finds themselves in need of a Family Law Attorney. Stop looking for the best Family Law Firm available. Wow, divorce sucks, Vaught makes it manageable and theyre amazing to work with. I had a very complicated case to modify spousal support just 18 months after my divorce. Erin Leake and the team at Vaught were able to help me demonstrate the legal threshold to get a fair reduction that was substantial without the expense of a trial. I cant recommend them any stronger. Professional, expert, efficient. They will not burn through retainer doing empty work. They are also realistic in managing my expectations and the law. I strongly advise against engaging with this law firm, particularly Jimmy. If I could, I would rate it zero stars. Despite investing over $5k, my case never made it to court. Instead, we endured endless meetings that drained my retainer, offering little value to my case. When I expressed concerns about my childs well-being, Jimmy abruptly terminated our professional relationship via email. Its evident he prioritizes profit over client advocacy. Sadly, my ex-partner, whom I was fighting for custody against, now faces serious charges, highlighting the systems failings. My recommendation is to avoid lawyers altogether and seek alternative solutions, as they often prioritize financial gain over genuine assistance.

If you re looking for an attorney firm to represent you on your divorce or child custody battle, don t waste your time hiring attorneys who claimed to charge affordable fees because it will end up costing you more time and money at the end. Trust me, I ve been there and I wish I would have found Jimmy sooner. I went through a long drawn out custody battle and did not have a very good experience with the first set of attorneys who represented me. Then I found Jimmy from Vaught Law Firm and everything changed for the better. Jim and his staff made me feel like they were family. They are not only extremely experienced and knowledgeable of the family law process, but also led me through the entire divorce and custody process with overwhelming kindness, which is rare to find in many attorney firms. This is my second divorce. I used a different attorney for my first divorce. That attorney I wouldnt rehire. This one, I might, depending on the circumstances. Full disclosure - Im an attorney. When shopping for an attorney ALOT depends on individual situation and personalities involved (YOURS and the attorneys). It is EXACTLY that..... SHOPPING! And I can tell you from experience I didnt WANT to SHOP for an attorney the first time or the second. BUT I also didnt want to be in pain any longer and repeat my situation OVER and OVER again. On a scale of 1 to 10 Id rate my experience a 9. Is the firm perfect? No. Expensive - yes (what attorney isnt who is doing a good job?) Communicate well? For the most part. As best as Ive seen other attorneys (Ive had to hire attorneys for other various reasons). I can get easily frustrated in todays time when I send an email and it has questions in it that dont get answered. If I am going through the trouble of making a bullet point list, make sure it is read and responded to completely to every item, check it twice before hitting send-- this message goes to anyone out there reading this! Experienced? - YES! Knowledgeable? As far as I could tell Prepared for trial? ABSOLUTELY (of course that came at a cost) Get the result I wanted? Only GOD can do that. Get the next best thing? Again, no matter what the outcome of the trial was, I was to determined to accept the judges ruling as what God wanted for me/my child..... I did my part, Jimmy and his staff did theirs, the defense did (or didnt do) their part..... Would I hire this firm again? I really, REALLY, hope that I dont have need for a Family Law Attorney in another contested situation. But if I HAD to would I? Probably. But Id at least interview another attorney to see what he/she could bring to the table that is different. To draft a PRENUP or POSTNUP for me? Absolutely Id hire again - I dont need to shop any further.

Wow I scheduled a consultation with Tracy to speak with Mrs. French. However, I had to cancel because I scheduled my daughter doctor appointment same day and Time. I told Jimmy, I don t care about the cars, the investment properties., the house, the bank accounts or anything else. I just want 50/50 possession with my children. The first thing Jimmy told me was. I don t think we should go for 50/50 possession because I don t think they ll go for it . The first time we went to court. We sat side by side for 4 hours. The judge came out. Re-scheduled us and that was that. I found out later that, That session of sitting in silence cost me upwards of 2600 or so. Overall, working with Jimmy was an absolute terrible experience. When we met he was distracted and didn t pay attention to what I was telling him about what I most wanted. I had to repeat myself every time we met. I felt they only cared about my money and not me or not what I most wanted. I ended up representing myself and got everything I wanted and more!

In retrospect, I wish Id selected a different law firm to handle my uncontested, no child divorce. I worked with Candi W. and Erin L., perhaps the experience is different with different people at the firm. I found they consistently made a difficult life event more difficult through poor communication and lack of attention to details. I needed to follow-up to ensure things were completed and double check their work to correct errors. I found little value in their work for the cost. I needed assistance enforcing a divorce decree that my ex spouse was ignoring. I went to Vaught Law Firm and met with Erin. Throughout my lengthy case with my less-than-stable ex spouse and his lawyer of a similar personality, Erin was very communicative and the entire office and staff were very sympathetic. It felt good to have his unreasonableness acknowledged and my frustration validated. Tracy, the business manager, was easy to get in touch with and very reasonable when working with me to pay retainer replenishment. I have never had as good an experience working with someone in a financial aspect as I did with Tracy. Erin is very poised, was kindly commiserative of my situation, and both she and Tracy had excellent contacts they were able to refer me to for ancillary matters. Leigh de la Reza was my 3rd attorney in my unnecessary and traumatic child custody modification. Granted, Leigh was probably the better of the four attorneys I had (what a racket family law is!), I would not recommend her as she did not protect my son and me. She did, however, provide me very valuable information regarding TSBEP admin code 465.18, which prevented too much damage happening from the colluding efforts of psychologists. I find it both shocking and disappointing to see that she has now left Vaught Law firm and joined Noelke English Maples St Leger and Bryant - the same firm at which she had to remind attorney Judith Bryant to stop putting psychologists license in danger (465.18 as mentioned above). It just goes to show you the ethics and values of these attorneys. At one of my mediations, Leigh pressured me to make a decision that was not in my sons or my best interest. It was very misleading and paved the path of many more years of legal abuse as it kept me in temporary orders (the irony of the word; readers, dont let them fool you. Its next to impossible to get out of temporary orders, especially when theres a hostile attorney on the other side). I was appreciative that Leigh did refund most of my replenished retainer when we parted ways (it was primarily due to me not being able to maintain a retainer of $7500 and above). I imagine she was put in a compromised position with the Vaught Law Firm as she did allow me to go in the negative with the retainer. I also saw a glimmer of her compassion when I ran into her and her children in the Randalls parking lot with my son. It was almost an acknowledgement of a mother and child being rightfully united. My son and I experienced tremendous parental alienation via the litigation, which was absolutely traumatic for both him and me. Im disappointed that Leigh did not do more to protect us. Im especially disappointed that she has partnered with Judith Bryant! Hence, the reason behind giving her 1 star rather than 2. Leigh is clearly putting other matters before her ethics and values. I dont have very many positive remarks to make of Candi (to say the least) - the paralegal at the time. A lot of time and money were unnecessarily spent communicating & working with Candi when they should have been with Leigh. It was very frustrating. UPDATE 1/17/2019: REGARDING YOUR RESPONSE, VAUGHT LAW FIRM: Of course a parent who has been legally abused by the family law systems would be upset. Alienated Parents/Targeted Parents get further entrapped in the family law systems by attorneys who settle for status quo and dont properly protect them or their child[ren]. To be technical, that is structural violence. For attorneys to neglect their clients and further exploit and extort them are complicit acts of violence - structural violence and family violence by proxy. Your firm is no different from all the rest. In fact, your response is so very typical of an attorney; youre deflecting, attempting to make it reflect on the client, when in all actuality, youre skirting responsibility and taking advantage of families in crises. I would hardly call an amount at or slightly under $7,500 pro bono work! I swear! Attorneys and their enablers have such moral turpitude! Its all about the money, isnt it? Its not IIO the child; but rather, IIO the law firm. Furthermore, your complicit acts of violence will have life-long adverse effects on my son, me, and even my ex-husband. How are you able to sleep at night knowing what all you and your colleagues in these Kangaroo Courts have done?

Its been a long two year process for me, that has finally come to an end. I am truly thankful to everyone at this firm, who helped me during this process!! They were all so wonderful!! They were always so prompt to respond and very kind. I would often times get responses back to my emails when it was late in the evening. To me, that says they all work so very hard very their clients. Good people!!

The actual best. These people are like family to me. They moved around so much to accommodate me, stuck through the tough times, made room to laugh and have fun, and most importantly ensured that my rights as a father were well protected. The only bad part about my drama being over is seeing less of these folks. I really wish I had more reasons to work with them more! From my start with a late night Friday panic call through hours of court and mediation, through difficulties arranging payments all at once, Vaught worked with and for me.

I met Leigh at Vaught Law Firm (coincidentally on my birthday) September of 2015. She was sharp, thorough, and most of all empathetic to my situation. I was seeking an attorney for a high conflict custody situation and she gave me hope. You will meet attorneys who will bully you into a decision which you might regret down the road. Leigh never did this. She trusted that I knew what I wanted out of my situation and that I knew what was best for my child, and understood from a parents perspective. My case took over 2 years to resolve as the other party was unwilling to compromise and VLF stood by me every step of the way. Everyone who touched my case was supportive and took the time to answer my, what seemed like, endless questions. Cici (Litigation Assistant), Tracy (Business Manager), and Rebecca (Paralegal) are all amazing at what they do and communicated clearly and timely anything that was happening or was needed from me for my case. I will be forever grateful for the work the Vaught Law Firm has done for my family.

A friend of the family recommended Vaught Law Firm - particularly Leigh de la Reza to me a few months ago. Like someone else mentioned, I was encouraged by their prompt response and information given by the staff. I was also encouraged at the consultation with Leigh. Here is my issue...I told Leigh upfront that I did not have much in resources and the person who referred her to me mentioned that she might be able to work pro bono. I made sure to ask as everyone knows, custody battles can be very costly, especially to a lower-middle-class mother of two. She mentioned at the end of the consultation that she would ask their office manager if she was able to work pro bono and get back to me. I never heard from her or her office manager for several months - which was okay since my situation was still at the is this what I need to do phase. However, recently I decided to go through with the case and called her office to see what the process entailed, if they had other payment options, or if the pro bono was even an option. At the time I was told I could put down a retainer fee or go contract with less upfront (this was from their office manager, I never actually spoke to Leigh again) or use one of their associates at a lower rate. I asked what the timing, process, payment schedule, etc of all this would entail and the office manager said she would speak with Leigh. After a week of waiting, still no communication. At this point, I was beginning to suspect that they did not want to work with me, but I tried one more time and ended up talking to the office manager again. This time she said I was a financial risk and that going contract was not an option. I told her I was fine going contract and she said my case was too complicated and costly and again I was a financial risk but she would talk to Leigh again. Obviously, I still havent heard a word back. I dont mind them thinking Im a financial risk. What I dont appreciate is not being told upfront that they did not want to work with me, and instead, leading me on thinking that this whole time I would have someone to help me and my children in this stressful emotional time. How can people in family law, especially when dealing with the well-being of children, think its okay to lead people like myself on when they are going through enough stress in this kind of situation? If you have lots of money - Im sure they must be great. If you indicate at all that you dont, dont let them give you the runaround. Go find someone who truly can empathize with your situation and either tell you up front they cant/wont take your case and not waste your time or give you hope. Instead, go find someone who is willing to stand up for you and your family and will be upfront about their intentions. After all, when parents/couples are going through a situation like this, wouldnt it be nice to not have yet one more thing to worry/stress about?

Divorce is difficult, Vaught Law helped me through the tough times when divorce seemed like the last and best hope for both me and my girls. They talked about the options, what was best and most realistic, and guided me through the morass of the Texas Family legal system. They are very knowledgable, professional and accomodating. I hope that I never have to use them again, but I would if it came down to that situation.

Vaught Law Firm, and specifically Leigh de la Reza, were fantastic during the course of my divorce. They maintained the highest level of integrity and professionalism throughout. They always looked out for my best interests. The divorce took far longer than it should have due to shenanigans initiated by the opposing attorney (you should pray that the opposing attorney is as professional as Vaught). Through this ordeal, they guided me adroitly. If I were to get divorced again (geez, I hope not), I wouldnt hesitate to use Vaught. FYI, if you want to know who the opposing attorney is (NOT at Vaught) so you can avoid them, contact me.

Back in 2013, my wife decided to divorce me. She already had a lawyer. I knew I needed one too, but I wanted one that I could trust to honor my values.
