The food was okay. I asked for catfish strips not really sure what fish it was but I m pretty sure it was not catfish. Super crunchy and crispy. Customer service could be a little more inviting. Someone told me to try them out so I did.

One of the best experiences Ive ever had their fried catfish macaroni and cheese and their chicken wings and Kool-Aid is to die for. If I could drive back everyday just to eat there for lunch and dinner I would be the most excited #big back activities one of the greatest restaurants Ive ever experienced in Austin The music and the food had such a vibe. It gave you that Friday. I just got out of work. I want to eat good food. I just want to relax and thats exactly what we got

I went to Mr. Catfish 3 times in 1.5 weeks. The fried catfish filet and kool-aid slush mixed flavored had me in a chokehold. The sides were not consistent unfortunately. Fried catfish filet dinner with greens and Mac. The 1st time on a Wednesday everything was perfect. Greens were just right with a hint of spicy and the mac was so creamy. I order side of cornbread that actually wasnt need. And the pound cake was delicious. Slush is not as sugary as you would expect so i appreciated that. 5/5. 2nd time I went on the following Sunday midday. Catfish perfect. Husband got whole catfish and loved it. Greens were missing seasoning and did not taste fully cooked. Mac and cheese was naked-ish and unfortunately slush wasnt ready yet but the regular was delicious. 3/5. 3rd time (pic below), went back on the following Friday late afternoon to see if it was an off day. Fish wasnt as crunchy as 1st couple of times but still delicious. Green did not hit at all. Mac was better than 2nd time but not better than 1st. Slush was perfect on an extremely hot day. And tried the sock it to me cake. Oh that sock it me was even better than the pound cake. 4/5. I may try different sides next time but know the fish is the star i.e. the name!

Absolutely the best catfish Ive had in the city! Super flavorful, crispy, served hot and fresh, and tge peanut butter cornflake treats are crazy good!! The only downside is the volume of the music (not the live music, just whats playing overhead) in the dining room makes it impossible to sit and have a conversation while you eat. My friend and I ate quickly and went down the street so that we could catch up.

I try to support black businesses but my experience today was trash! I ordered my food online a little before 3 and it was set for pickup at 4. I get there a bit after 4 there is a cashier struggling with someone s order before me. Finally he gets to me and I say I have pickup and give him my name . He looks confused and asks what I ordered Never really clarifies my order , I tell another young lady working there about my order she seems more helpful and gives me someone else s order. I say that s not mines , repeat my order etc and she tells me it s after 4 . So what that mean???? It s thrown away? I m working a driving job and didn t have time for the incompetence. No resolution was offered or any common sense displayed so I just walked out, can t see myself ever returning Update- I just got a text at 6:02 saying my order ready smh

I ve been wanting to try this place for weeks. Tried it today and it was definitely worth the wait! The fish was well seasoned with the perfect crunch; literally fried to perfection!! I found the atmosphere to be very comforting and welcoming. The gumbo was good, but not spectacular. The prices were super reasonable (especially for the quality of the food) 10/10 for me, the fish exceeded my expectations!!

5 all day Mr Catfish is great. I worked down the street for a few years & they was the go to for most of us in the office . I haven t been since Covid 19 , but so happened to be in the area & had to grab something. Today was just red beans & rice & they were so fresh & steamy . Also got some Mac & cheese, once again very fresh, hot, and you can t just take one bite, absolutely delicious. I can t wait to make it back for a full plate again. In addition, the young lady at register was friendly & helpful. The older gentleman from the kitchen walked by & I had a question that would be more likely for him so I ask. He stopped & took time for me, he was so nice I don t remember ever having a complaint with Mr Catfish at this location.

I love this place. I have been going here for years. They used to have a place on East 12 Street many years ago. The food has flavor and is always served piping hot. The gumbo is so good that you do not need crackers. Herman remembers his customers and is always friendly. I just love this place.

just great all-around. I got the 2 wing & 2 catfish strips plate with gumbo, fries, & hush puppies. my wife got the veggie plate with okra, hush puppies, greens, and mac & cheese. we shared the cornbread muffins & a large cup of red kool aid. all the food tasted good! it was ready when expected (about 30 mins after we put in a to-go order). the food wasn t greasy, which is great. they had a great option for vegetarians! 10/10 recommend.

This is the type of place that you go to when you want some homemade home down cooking. The first time my family went they got the wings and catfish fillets. The fish was delicious. The wings was delicious. The fried pork chop is delicious. The greens were delicious. The potato salad was delicious. If you live in Austin or coming in from out of town, do yourself a favor and stop by this place and get you some delicious home from scratch cooking. The second time we went I had the whole catfish fried. Needless to say OMG the staff there is simply wonderful and I pray that they save me a piece of socket to me cake for the next time that I go.
