We came here last Friday to celebrate a friend s birthday. The restaurant was easy enough to get to in downtown Austin. It was on the 7th floor of Zaza Hotel. Here s my take of the whole experience: - Reservations: this place books up quickly! Be sure to make a reservation 7-8 days in advance. - Service: I was disappointed there were no purse hooks but that s not that big of a deal. I ll say, the service was a tad slow. I wanted to order coffee in the end but we got the check along with the slice of birthday cake that came out for our friend. We didn t get asked if we d like coffee, and by the time I looked up to ask for it, our server had disappeared. The beginning felt like a hurry up and wait feeling, and in the end it felt like we were being rushed out. I get it s busy but kinda disappointing. - Appetizers: we ordered a number of appetizers: the Brussel Sprouts, Lemon Ricotta and Grilled Apricots, and Lamb Chop Lollipops. All were delicious, only I have to add a disclaimer: the lemon ricotta was so sweet it felt out of place. I would have preferred a more savoury appetizer. - Entrees: I ordered the sea bass (fish) and it was delicious! It wasn t too chewy or overcooked. In fact it was fluffy and the vegetables and rice complimented the fish wonderfully. My friends ordered the filet and a pasta dish, and they had a great experience with their entrees. - Accessibility and Parking: conveniently located in the corner of Lavaca and 4th Street, you can drive to the hotel and leverage free valet parking for the first 2 hours (tip is obviously welcomed). To get to the restaurant, take the elevator to the 7th floor. - Atmosphere: what a sight! Beautifully designed restaurant especially for bookworms like me. The restaurant is meant to offer a warm and therapeutic atmosphere, hence its name. It inviting and very comfortably laid out for friends and loved ones to gather over a meal and a nice chat. The view outside is lovely as well.

Sad to say this cool place was a little disappointing. Calamari was extra fishy tasting. Brussels Sprouts were pretty good. The sauces were delicious. My chicken dish was decent, and the short ribs and sides were delicious. We got a Creme Brulee that just had sugar on it wasn t toasted to a shell, so that was weird. I shouldn t complain, as it was a free dessert for a special occasion, but was just surprising to see it come out that way. They didn t have another so brought a cheese cake which was tasty. The waitress did her best but some simple requests took a long time to reach the table, such as two bottled waters as my family thought the water they poured had a funny taste to it. So, all-in-all, we enjoyed the atmosphere and our dinner together, but were also caught off-guard with the items mentioned above.

This server is hands down the best Ive ever encountered in Austin! From the moment we sat down, their warmth and attentiveness made our dining experience exceptional. They have a genuine knack for making every guest feel special. The recommendations were spot-on, and their knowledge of the menu was impressive. The service was prompt but never rushed, and their infectious smile truly added to the enjoyable atmosphere. If youre dining out in Austin, ask for Margaux you wont be disappointed!

Came here for brunch during the week and the food was delicious! Very cozy rooftop restaurant combined with the food made it an overall good experience - the only reason it wasn t great was because the service was a bit subpar. Rather inattentive staff had us seat ourselves, and they only came out to take our orders, no checking in or offering suggestions- just rather unfriendly. I d still recommend coming here for the food, perhaps the waitstaff was just having an off day. We ordered the avocado toast, the pancakes, and an iced americano.

Group Therapy, nestled within the Zaza Hotel in downtown Austin, offers a cozy ambiance and a noteworthy Brown Sugar Old Fashioned, albeit a tad pricey. While the small plates selection was modest, the offerings were satisfying. However, the main course options were disappointingly limited, leading me to opt for a burger. The dessert, on the other hand, was a delightful conclusion to the meal, complemented by attentive service from our waitress. Overall, an enjoyable experience, but not compelling enough for a return visit.

It took 40 mins to get our food and we were 1 of 3 tables in there for lunch on a Monday at 11:30am. Granted we were 8 people but the other 2 tables were 2 toppers. There was no communication regarding delay or any apologies. When I couldnt find our waiter, I asked the bartender if he knew how much longer and I got a rude its coming. Food was ok when it showed up but not worth a 40 min wait. Was a super pretty restaurant though.

I loved the ambiance of hotel Zsa Zsa. We only went to experience Group Therapy. We used valet parking which was $12 for two hours or $20 for the day. The valet ended up not charging us at all which was nice. Group Therapy is on the 7th floor pool level. Plenty of indoor seating but because it was a nice day, we decided to sit on the balcony near the pool. It was a shaded area with fans and a heater. I ordered the margarita with mezcal which gave it a smoky taste. Our meal was off the brunch menu. I ordered the crispy chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans which was really good. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a nice crunch. My bestie ordered the omelette plate. She enjoyed her meal as well. The prices for most of the meals was at least $20 or more. All of the cocktails were at least $20. It was definitely worth the one time experience.

We were going out on a girls night and were trying to find a restaurant close by the secret speakeasy where we had reservations later that night. We chose this place with hesitation because of a some of the ratings - but it was so close. The name of the place is so fitting for a girls night. Our waiter was amazingly helpful and the ambiance was modern and stylish as you would expect being in a hotel called ZaZa. The Ahi Tuna Nachos although few in quantity were mounded with yummy goodness on each fried wonton. Actually very filling but light enough that you didnt leave overly full. Also impressed with the amount of tuna on each nacho. I did not order the ceasar but my friend was not a fan of the power of the anchovies and garlic. As soon as I heard those words my eyes lit up and my stomach grumbled. I HAD to try a bite. I am going to have to say - this place has one of the best ceasar salads Ive ever had. I love anchovies and I love garlic and their dressing was all about it - like a punch in the face of anchovies and garlic. I do agree though, their dressing is an acquired specific taste and is not for the faint at heart by all means. For sure a place Id go again - food.service.ambiance. done and done.

Baked Brie: it was good but the cranberries tartness was overwhelming and I love tart flavors. Lamb lollipops: excellent a bit salty but very tender and flavorful. Trendy spot in a trendy hotel, touting a promising, trendy menu. The atmosphere is great. Loved the decor and the music. Sadly, I found the food to be subpar. We started with the zero proof margs, which were our favorite things of the meal. The jalapeno calamari should instead be titled jalapeno AND calamari to be clear on what youll be getting. The calamari was overcooked. The dipping sauce, a roasted jalapeno salsa, was yummy. (In hindsight, the description of the dish does state the and but who reads the description of such a standard dish? I guess I will from now on.) My short ribs were okay. Tender but lacking in flavor and devoid of any sauce that might have come from the red wine braise it said it was made in. It did come with a jus, but thats not what I expected at all. The cheddar grits and brussel sprouts were good though, Ill give it that. My husband made no comments about his fried chicken dish. My mother said the scallops were just short of rubbery. Thats a real shame. And the accompanying risotto was gloppy and not creamy as it should be. She did enjoy the asparagus. Overall, for a meal at that price, I expected more. I cant really recommend, sad to say.

My partner and I both work in the service industry downtown. It was the evening of our one year anniversary and he wanted to surprise me with cocktails and late night eats at Group Therapy. I had never been there and was looking forward to decompressing at what seemed to be a luxurious place. Upon arrival, we realized they had already started setting up for the following morning with coffee cups on each table. There was one gentleman in a white button down frantically seating a couple in front of us. Eventually, we were seated. After 25 minutes of waiting. Not a single person acknowledged us at the table. We also noticed the couple seated before us was also never greeted/acknowledged by anyone. They eventually got drinks for themselves at the bar. There were multiple employees milling about the place while we were there including a bartender. It was very clear we were not welcome even though they didn t close for over an hour. So disappointed and felt genuinely uncomfortable. So, we decided to leave. I don t think anybody noticed. One star because it is a beautiful spot. Such a shame. Especially for a place with $20 cocktails. At first, we were overjoyed to find they didn t close until midnight. It was about 10:15 PM when we arrived. Will not hurry back.

At a flat $20 a cocktail, the group consensus was that the drinks were underwhelming. Either too watered down, lacking flavor, and/or downright unimpressive. Maybe it was a fluke, and it was just that one night - either way, we left somewhat disappointed. The decor was great, however. Service erred on the slower side for a mostly empty room, and the late night dishes were just good, but nothing special - confirming other similar reviews. I would suggest the bars on Rainey St for a much more diverse offering of better drinks for less among other things, or something like Watertrade if youre looking for something higher end. But honestly, it wouldnt be hard to find better drinks just about anywhere.

The ambiance of the restaurant is hip and interesting. The quality and taste of the food was solid but unfortunately our service was lacking pretty heavily. Our server was very kind and looked busy, but there were several misses that diminished our experience. I ordered a steak and it was dropped off without a steak knife. It was at least 15 minutes or more before the server returned for me to ask for one, I couldn t even spot her to be able to flag her down. So my steak was completely cold by the time I was able to start on it. I was also out of soda for quite a while before I was able to ask for a refill and when it came, the syrup had obviously run out so it was basically just soda water, and again it was a long time before I was able to ask for a new one. I try to extend extra grace to service industry workers these days so I didn t push any of this at the time as she looked like she was trying her best, but on reflection the food was really too expensive to not have a good service experience to go with it. Unfortunately we are unlikely to return.

Solid spot to have dinner or a few drinks. The chopped chicken salad and fried chicken are both excellent. The secret garden is my go to refreshing drink. Beautiful interior. The service is attentive and kind. It can be a bit loud and a little bit of a scene, but that can be a good thing some evenings.

Over all I give it 5.5 there alot that need to be looked at from the GM. Drinks almost 20 minutes to get food was just as long if not longer to get. The server didnt clear plates as the dinner progresed. The room is very loud and eco. Then the music started up and the conversation I was haveing turned into a, what did you say conversation. Decent food just need the right kind of guide from management

Very unimpressed with this place. Ordered the grilled peaches; very hard and not even remotely ripe. Waitress didn t get us more water for 40 minutes. The burger was decent, the fries were cold, the Caesar salad was very mediocre and the lobster roll was majority lettuce with minimal Mayo covered lobster. Hopefully they can work on their inattentive service and do better on their disappointing food. Long story short, make the food and service match the price.

From scanning the reviews on here as well it seems like the service is not good for certain groups of people that come in here. My friends and I were here this past weekend and we had made reservations. It took a while to get our drinks, the server was not friendly, and the service itself just really not the best at all. The food was OK. but this review is mainly about how our server didnt even check in on us at all, she did not come and ask if we needed a refill drinks. Took her 30 minutes from the time we were done eating to get the check ONLY BECAUSE WE ASKED when she walked by. I also noticed the restaurant was not busy at all and she had walked past our table 3 times total. I barely write reviews like this but this place needs better service/management. - would not recommend

Nice decor, but the service is terrible. To be specific, we made a reservation, arrived within the grace period, and there was no host, no greeting, no servers. Nobody worked there. There are two guys behind the bar, neither of them made eye contact or acknowledged our presence. We waited around for 5-10 minutes, and left. Pretty bad operations at the place, and poor training for the two guys at the bar. Service is everything in a restaurant, and this place maintains a low bar. Go to Trulucks one block east for a good dining experience.

My partner and I went there in recommendation from another friend of mine who ate there. The host Vincent was the one who sat us at the outdoor seating by the pool and recommended a few delicious cocktails. I got the Savior tiers and my guy got the Maple leaf. We wanted an appetizer but got two: the crispy brussels and a fancy one. Lamb lollies. Holy heck the lamb pops were so good, I took one home. We got the crispy chicken Sammy and the 8oz fillet. It was a special night for us and we had suck an amazing skyline view at sunset. It was tremendous and it all came together so well. I don t write many reviews but I guess the picturesque evening demands proper recognition. Thanks for a stellar job well done. ( get the lamb lollies!!!)

The worst service I ve had a a restaurant downtown. Came in and took 15 minutes+ for a host to greet us. Asked for an out door table when I made the reservation weeks in advance for my birthday brunch only to be seated in an indoor corner. Wasn t busy at all when we came here, took over an hour to get everyone s cocktails all out and another hour for food. We were only checked on when orders were taken and given the check. No refills. Asked for checks to be split before ordering. They said no problem. At check out they refused to split the checks saying their system doesn t allow checks to be split . Bloody Mary s tasted like straight up tobacco with no garnishes. My entire party works or has worked in the service industry and understand that these are difficult times. But the service here offered no excuse or apology. Will not be returning or referring anyone to this unique brunch spot .

The place is beautiful and really well-kept. Staff is nice, foods good. I had one off-putting experience though. I should have said something at the time, but it felt so awkward that I didnt bother. With my lunch, I ordered a glass of Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label, priced at GT at $24 a glass. Its French champagne, medium-ish pricey, but really good. Im studying wine, so I know what it tastes like, the color, etc., and I have it fairly frequently. I asked for the regular brut, not the rosé, and what I got was a brut, but it was definitely not Veuve. Im not sure if the bartender thought I didnt know what I was ordering, or that I wouldnt be able to tell Veuve apart from a different sparkling wine, but this wine was the wrong color (Veuve is yellow-ish, this was paler) with notes of toast and lower acidity than Veuve. When I left, I felt taken advantage of, because why give me something different than what I ordered? Having worked at a wine bar myself before, I know you dont want to open a bottle of sparkling wine and potentially lose revenue on only selling one glass, but if thats the case, then just dont sell pricier wines by the glass. Because I didnt see the bartender pour, theres no way for me to prove that the brut I received wasnt Veuve, but I know it wasnt, and Im disappointed in having paid for something (I checked the ticket when it arrived, I paid for Veuve) that I never actually received. Again, really nice place, but just a bad experience.
