Pro tip, Tuesdays are $1 east coast oysters (be sure to preorder via Open table reservation notes) and 50% off bottles of wine. Small plates are 50% off from 5-6 every day! Enjoy! You can park across the street at 401 E. 53rd.

Out waitress (blonde and petite who has a day job too) was so amazing and we sat at the counter top where you can see them cooking and thats fun too.

If you dont eat here you are doing yourself a disservice. From the outside, I would never have guessed I would have the quality of food and atmosphere we did. I have had meals at Michelin star restaurants that were not nearly as good, and I have had dominos orders that cost more. Do your self a favor and get a counter seat and immerse your self with the amazing staff. The chefs and wait staff were amazing, offered suggestions, and even went as far as offering recommendations for other eateries and experiences for our trip in Austin. The tasting menu was superb even for someone whos a picky eater trying to be adventurous. The popover and fingerling potatoes were spectacular. I love all things cheesecake and almost skipped the juniper cheesecake thinking I might not like it. Never been more happy to take a leap for the most exquisite desert. Do yourself a favor and make the reservation.

Delightful experience. First thing first. Gerson is a rockstar! He brought life to the menu with his descriptions and steered our meal in a delectable direction. The popovers were scrumptious, and the gnocchi was divine. The duck fat fingerlings are a MUST! And if you think youre too full for dessert, youre wrong! There is plenty of room for ice cream. The portion may be petit, but the flavors are robust. Not to mention, the pannacotta is decadent. The honey is for sure the star, and you wont want to put your spoon down. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time. Its a small spot, with the kitchen open to view, and on a busy evening, the volume can be a smidge overwhelming.

We love Foreign & Domestic! I visited here for my second time recently. My partner and I love the lively atmosphere. We made reservations for the bar this time, and it was incredible to watch the cooks work their magic. I ordered the Parisian gnocchi, which is truly an amazing dish. Has a lemon-butter sauce that you will not soon forget. My partner ordered the Bavette steak. The steak was cooked perfectly medium, but we didnt care for the sauce that came with it, which was a bit smokey (maybe its the chili oil?) I remember liking the dessert on my first visit, but cant recall what I had. There is an extensive wine list as well as beers (but no cocktails). This is a great neighborhood spot to have a delicious meal outside of downtown. I will return to try some of the appetizers and other dishes.

Brunch was overall good, with some real winners and some lesser options. The pancake is honestly one of the best I ve had in Austin, and the key lime crème fraiche is a wonderful elaboration. Frittata was a surprising flavor explosion, though the chicken on the chicken biscuit was fried soggy and overwhelmed by the cheddar biscuit. Separate from the food, the service gradually degraded from attentive to MIA by the end of the meal.

I came here with a large group of family/friends (16 people), and we had made a reservation via OpenTable over a week in advance, with a $25/person charge if you dont show up or cancel before 24 hours. We got there on time for our reservation, but they didnt have our table open. We sat outside, waiting, for about half an hour. **additional note, apparently my sister did not update the reservation to add more people until earlier that morning, so I understand that can make things difficult, especially in such a small space.** After that hiccup, the rest of the visit went fine. The food was pretty good; Mom really liked her frittata, I thought the cinnamon roll was really tasty, and I enjoyed the zucchini bread as well. Service was decent, but I feel like they could have checked up on us more and they also must have accidentally swapped mine and my sisters order, because I asked for eggs over medium but got over easy, and my sister ordered over easy but got medium. Not a terrible mistake and the food was still good, so no hard feelings on that. Overall, the place is good, and I would definitely recommend going, just probably with fewer people.

I came for brunch with my family, and despite having a reservation, we had to wait at least 20 minutes past our reserved time to be seated. Pretty much everyones eggs came out overcooked, but we were all so hungry we didnt bother trying to get it remade as this likely would have taken more time than it was worth. My over-easy eggs came out over-medium, and peoples poached eggs, which should be runny, were fully cooked through. The Apple Pancakes were phenomenal, as was the cinammon bread with cream cheese frosting, but a lot of the other food was mediocre. I will give points, though, for making a special drink for my niece. Server was nice, and there was good background music.

Accommodating for a large reservation, despite having to wait a little bit ahead of time to ensure we had ability to sit our party of 16. Brought out variety of bread and coffee while we waited. Everything is clearly fresh and well prepared. Attentive and accommodating staff.

Fantastic female owned and operated spot. For dinner - Get the counter if you can!! Watching this kitchen run is a show in and of itself. The food is phenomenal. I love brunch and dinner equally here. Support this local gem!!! That bay flavored ice cream is next level. It is true foodie ice cream (like you see chefs try to do on tv but sounds gross?). This is what elevated dessert is meant to be. Nuanced, interesting, layered, and delicious. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options! Dietary restrictions: I am keto and have come here with a vegetarian - we both left very happy and well fed Possible cross contamination in the kitchen but they do a great job for non-allergy based dietary needs. Parking: Tiny lot of like 4 spots but plenty of street parking. Kid-friendliness: Not really a kid spot. But. If you brought kids I bet they would take wonderful care of the kids. Wheelchair accessibility: It is a tiny space but all wheelchair accessible

A bit of a wait, but the entrees were delicious. The heat lamp kept us warm. Definitely would make a reservation next time to enjoy a meal indoors, small and cozy. Loved the red snapper fish of the day, and mushroom gnocchi. The campenelle pasta and cauliflower was good. Fun, buzzy place thats served Austin foodies since 2010. Imaginative menu, fresh local ingredients, playful flavors... some a bit too salty for me. Nice wine list with pairing suggestions. Perfect place for entertaining or nights out. There is outdoor seating but heaters were not working, making it a no-go for us. Everything was yummy: grits with Chanterelle mushrooms, Popovers with jalapenos, green salad with pears and pecans, grilled sea bass on bed of creamed corn, roast pork shoulder with blackened peas. Very good sides are good size to share too.

The Rabbit Roast, Pumpkin Ravioli, and Mushroom Gnocchi are equally outstanding, showcasing the chefs skill in combining ingredients to create dishes that are both comforting and extraordinary. Brunch at Foreign and Domestic is an experience like no other. Their homemade pancakes, adorned with hand-whipped whipped cream, are pure bliss on a plate. When you sit down and begin looking over a menu and cant decide what to get, you know youre in for a good meal. Everything we ordered was excellent. Not good, excellent. This was far and away the best brunch weve had in Austin - by far. Cinnamon bun was light, not too dry - perfectly balanced. The pancakes (will get those next week when we go back) looked amazing, topped off with fresh seasonal peaches. My wife had the 44 Farms steak and eggs, I had the 2 eggs any style which came with brioche toast and homemade peach jam, fingerling potatoes roasted in duck fat, along with top shelf bacon. Mouthwatering. A carafe of mimosas to help wash it all down. I had a smile on my face the entire time I was eating, so happy. Service was on point and Sarah (co-owner, chef) came by to say hello - she is so sweet and appreciative. Finally, Austin has a great restaurant scene but in my opinion, has become very over-priced. Good restaurants like Clarks Oyster Bar, Junes All Day, Pecan Square Cafe all are great places but priced at premium plus another 30%. I always walk away feeling like Ive been gouged. Not here. Foreign & Domestic has fair pricing on the entire menu which makes for an outstanding value. If you are looking for a great brunch option - look no further. -------------------------------------------------------------------- What a treat! If the star rating went higher, Foreign and Domestic would earn it. Heres why you should end your search right now and book your reservation here: Food: In a word, outstanding! Everything we ate and everything we watched getting delivered around us was and looked amazing. Service: Best weve had in Austin. Our waiter Charlie, the waitress in training, Barbara and even the other wait staff pitched in whenever necessary. They were friendly, knowledgable, and on point - they all made us feel welcome & appreciated. Ambiance: Super comfortable but elegant. We met the owner-chefs who couldnt have been more gracious and thankful. Not just one of the best restaurants in Austin, this is one of the best restaurants youll ever eat in anywhere!

Wow I m impressed by the service and foods at this place! I agree with all other reviews that they really went extra miles to provide the best service! I had a very pleasant experience dining here with my boyfriend. This is a very unassuming place with outstanding service. It was very popular and crowded inside when we arrived at 7:30pm on a weekday. Street parking was very easy to find. We waited 15 minutes for our table so the restaurant was so nice to offer their popovers for free. Every staff we encountered was so friendly and passionate, which made the entire experience very nice. We came here particularly for the popovers but at the end I was so happy with everything else we ordered and I would say the other dishes were surprisingly good! It s funny that at the end the popovers is my least favorite (don t get me wrong they were still very good) because the foods were just that good here if you know what to order! We had popovers, gnocchi, pork collar, sword fish and fenugreek custard. The popovers were huge and very fluffy inside with a crispy surface. Pork collar is so tender and juicy and the creamy corns underneath were so good! My bf and I loved it so much that we were saying if we came here a second time we would get definitely get double pork collars! The swordfish was way better than I expected as I am usually not a fan of flaky fish but this one had a very firm and unique texture that I have to admit I enjoyed every bite. The curry sauce went very well with the fish. Gnocchi was very soft and cushiony yet a little crispy. Lastly the fenugreek custard was just wow! I don t know why some reviews said it tasted weird but both of us loved it so much. It s super creamy and not overly sweet. As someone who s not a big fan of desserts, this one got my heart. The texture and flavor profile was just unique and excellent (it s probably one of the best desserts I ve had). Overall I would say the food here tend to be on the salty side but that s not a big deal since they were so flavorful and delicious! The bill was about $85 and we both both very full at the end. It was such a great experience dining here and I would definitely come back if I visit Austin again!

Ate here for dinner on a Tuesday. Asked for the $1 oysters, never came. Saw the table next to us that JUST got there, get served the oysters FROM OUR WAITRESS. I believe our waitress gave the oysters to the wrong table, because the table had a different waitress + called it back. Food took a really long time to arrive, understandable though since it was very busy. Waitress gave us a fork that was still a bit dirty. The food was amazing though. I recommend the 44 burger + fries and Popovers, really good. (took photo after cleaning the fork with a wet wipe I had.)

A gem of a restaurant. This is a review for a mid-week Dinner (2 people!) Place is kind of small and the table are arranged in kind if a funky way. There is outside seating (did not try that). There is a counter (I think 5-6 seats max). Open kitchen concept. Lots of hustle and bustle. Great staff and excellent service. Atmosphere can be a bit loud in such a cramped place but you quickly tune people out. Arrived at 6pm and were promptly seated. Took advantage of the happy hour and ordered a few dishes + 2 mains + 2 desserts (ice cream) Appetizers: - Had to have the popovers. Great texture, taste and the butter was quite pepper forward (we like that!) - Heirloom tomato salad. a massive shmear of cilantro and other herbs under the 3 large slices. Quite tasty - Fig tart. Very crumbly but delicious. A combination of fig, honey, parma ham, creme fraiche and other components. Very nice! Mains: - Fish special (it was swordfish) was excellent. Right size, spot on flavors with a tinge of spice. - Tomato Leaf Cassarecce: The menu describes it as tomato leaf & hazelnut pesto with pickled tomato salad on top. This was not the dish we were served. It had a VERY strong lemon flavor - so strong to be quite off-putting. My guest took 2 bites and declined to eat the rest. Desserts: We went with the ice-creams. Strong and (a bit) strange flavors and we sampled the Fenugreek and the Thai Basil ones. EXCELLENT! BONUS: Restaurant comped the pasta dish (was not expecting that and this earns them another dozen stars!) Highly recommended! Parking: Free street parking (on side street) - a bit of a challenge given its a residential area but not impossible to locate a spot.

Was excited to try this place but was a little underwhelmed. We sat outside and it was brutally hot. They had fans going but it was still pretty uncomfortable and the flies started to swarm when the food came out. Can t really control the elements but if you re going to offer an outdoor seating option you ve gotta make sure it s enjoyable. Food tasted good but many of the dishes we ordered and shared were very rich and heavy. That paired with the heat just didn t go well. And the service was ok. Initially was very prompt but once the dishes started rolling out our waitress disappeared for a bit. At one point we had to flag down another waitress because all 6 of us had drank through our water and cocktails. Don t think I d go again.

The kitchen is an open kitchen in full view. Its nice to be able to see your food being prepared. Especially if you sit at the counter. Vegetarian options: There are vegan options available that are creative and delicious. Dietary restrictions: Let your server know and the chefs are happy to work with your restrictions and make suggestions. Parking: There is extra parking across the street at a business that is closed during restaurant hours.

My wife and I came here as we had heard good things...they proved true. Service was top notch. Food was excellent. Happy Hour--Wow...half off all apps and drinks by the glass...and yes...on Tuesdays, $1 oysters and half-off white bottles. We sampled so much and I was so enamored, I gorgot pics on nearly all--sorry...it happens. 2 dozen oysters (no horseradish, but great home fresno chile I think if you ask, and standard mininette and cocktail sauce), chicken liver mousse, and strawberry salad to start--all supurb--my steak was great while my wife had gnocci...and we finished with some chocalate cake/mousse and port. We shared a bottle of wine too, and I had a couple by the glass. Only suggestion...my wifes a Somm...while the wine list could use some touch, its elevated enough for some real glassware. Otherwise, our service was excellent, atmosphere and vibe were the bomb, food was great, and overall satisfaction was awesome. Keep it up!

Building is a bit of a dive bar type atmosphere which is on the smaller side with an open kitchen. We enjoyed that but not everyone might. Food and service were both excellent and not indicative of the atmosphere. Food options were ingredients you might had before presented in new and exciting ways. All extremely fresh due to their local farm to table service. The wait staff were all excellent. Knowledgeable on all wines and food. Would highly recommend. We will definitely be going back.
