Since I moved to Texas this has been the single best Tex-Mex experience I have had. We unknowingly came in on what turned out to be the first day of their soft open after a remodel. I was a little concerned at first because the front looked like it was going to be pricier than what the website said, but by god they have stuck to their guns and kept the prices low, especially for the portions they give you. I got the combo fajitas with added mojo shrimp. My God. Tender, succulent, juicy shrimp beef and chicken. It was absolutely mind blowingly incredible. The service was prompt and the staff was all so very sweet. And the new decor is comfortable, welcoming, and cool. Giving five stars because 100 isnt an option. Highly recommend this location!

Of all the Mexican restaurants in Austin, Serrano s had been my favorite until recently. We went yesterday and the food was just average. The worst part is they got rid of the Jalepeno Poppers. They were so good and my favorite menu item. What were you thinking Serrano s? Guess I ll have to find a new favorite.

I have ordered delivery service for a long time from Serranos. What I love is that when I oder my favorite, Tacos Grandest, I get crispy tacos separate from all the fixings! The meat comes in a separate container, and everything else comes so you can make your taco YOUR WAY! The shells arent soggy and again you can make your taco your way with all the ingredients they provide! I love this place!

I ve had consistently great experiences here. The food has great flavor, especially the dishes with the smoked chicken (ex: chicken fajita tacos). Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. Classic TexMex Serranos has been in Austin for many years. It provides solid food at reasonable prices. Restaurant atmosphere is what youd expect for a chain tex-mex restaurant. Fairly comfortable and colorful. I had the Chimichanga with chipotle creamy sauce. The chicken had a nice flavor with the sauce giving it a nice rich compliment. I wasnt too excited about the rice content, but it was ok. All around a pretty solid meal. Additional note: The restaurant has a nice bar area with TV monitors for those who like a drink.

Amazing experience! Rita M was our server and she did amazing! Very knowledgeable about the menu and even helped us figure out what would be perfect pairings. My wife and I are picky eaters and Rita walked us through the menu and helped us to figure out everything. Came in on Saturday afternoon. Sat in the bar area. Full house but our waiter Rudy took care of us like we were the only customers. Had a couple of drinks that (Jen) the bartenders made like a professional. Best drinks I have had in some time. Salsa was great with just the right amount of heat. Fajitas were good but the onions were in need of some attention. The outer layers of onion just dont cook and have the same tenderness and flavor. Most of the onions were so tough I had to not eat. Peppers were good though. Overall I still give the experience a solid 10. Hopefully the manager will see this and make a correction in the future on the onions.

We love Serranos!! Best steak fajitas ever, seriously. The service is always so friendly, efficient and we ve never had a bad experience for the 10 years we ve been dining here. We went on a Friday night and there is nothing better than ending the week with a table side margarita and endless chips and salsa. Our waitress Karla was fantastic and so accommodating ! We ll see you all again in a couple weeks when we need our fix! Kid-friendliness: High chairs provided. Casual environment and plenty of room for families.

I made the mistake of giving this place a second chance, hadnt been here in over a year but it was close and I figured Id check out the happy hour. Had the nachos and a couple of beers. Although it was Friday night, we were seated within 30 minutes, the staff was friendly and provided every need. The food and drinks were excellent, I will definitely come back! Vegetarian options: I had fried Avocado tacos, which came in warm flour tortillas with a red cabbage slaw. It was a very tasty and filling meal.

Im very disappointed. I dont understand why the waitstaff have to insist they are right. I order chorizo and egg. Egg and huevo mean the same thing but the waitress had to come to me 3 times and the 3rd time brought the menu pointing out the word and I finally told her I understand and it means the same thing just one in English and the other in Spanish but it was very annoying she had to prove herself right. Then, she never brought the tortillas or refills. The bus guy paid more attention than she did. Again, Im very disappointed!!!

We are very big fans of Serranos. It s been our go-to when we re craving a night out but aren t trying to go too far from home. The food and drinks are both consistently wonderful so we always know we re going to enjoy our meal. They recently re-did their menu and it s full of gems. Their guac is great and we ve enjoyed everything from their chimichanga to their fajitas, their pollo Serrano to their tacos. You really can t go wrong, but I recommend the La Perfecta margarita in particular The service consistently goes above and beyond. We most recently dined with Elizabeth but another service member who stands out had a really fun name I want to say it was something like Pickles? I still recognize his face every time we come in even if he doesn t serve our table. He was so fun. Elizabeth was incredibly attentive and didn t forget a thing. She was kind and friendly, just provided a well-rounded, pleasant experience. Management is also very friendly. We had a minor issue with our churros tonight and they really went above and beyond to make it right for us. If you re reading this, give Serranos a try! I m sure they ll keep you coming back. I know they ll be seeing us again very soon.

We love coming here for quality Mexican that is fresh and comes out quickly. My one wish is that theyd invest in remodeling the entrance to better accommodate the waitlist. Great food. Great service. Thank you for keeping prices reasonable. Chicken fajitas are the best in Austin. Flour tortillas are always fresh. Street corn is amazing. If you get fajitas, add the carnitas too. We especially love the guacamole, charro beans, and Pacifico rice. Salsa is the right level of spice for us, but it may be hot for some folks. Robert is an awesome server. The only demerit is that the queso seems a bit pricey. Update: Serrano s still delivers delicious food. One irritation is that my family of 7 gets the large table mandatory tip of 20%, which isn t a big deal but it would be better if managers confined service was good before letting servers add it. The automatic add allows servers to ignore large tables for drink refills and tortillas. If they have to ignore, then bring extra drinks and tortillas with the meal. Otherwise people are thirsty and fajitas get cold while we wait for tortillas. Update: The chips changed in the last few months and I miss the older ones.

Just ordered from Serranos for the first time used Uber Eats for delivery. Our main dish, the beef fajita dish wasn t even in the bag. You d think for $26 they might include it in the delivery. The tortilla soup is excellent, the refried black beans are good, and the quesadilla is okay but not good for children as intended. Too annoyed to be bothered trying it again.

Serranos is always good and a staple for us. Our favorites are chicken fajitas, migas, and chicken fajita nachos. I would give this place a 5-star food rating if theyd just give a less spicy option for their salsa. When I was younger, their salsa was my favorite of any Mexican restaurant around, and I ate a ton of it. Unfortunately, now that Im older, I cant eat things that are super-hot anymore... and their salsa is one of the hottest out there! So now I enjoy it more often to go, where I can use a milder salsa (make it homemade).

Okay, I been going to this place for 30 years and the staff has changed from friendly to never smiling and asking if we need anything. I waited over 30 minutes for my single crispy taco order after we had to double ask to get them to wipe the salsa from bar from the previous customer after that this happens... I am leaving and the bartender falsely accused me of calling her bad names and when I say shes gone bizerk a waiter actually physically pushed me. What? No Way! that is against the Law !! I highly recommend never stepping a foot inside any of these establishments employed by a bunch of juvenile delinquents. That was as bad as customer service can be! I am considering formal litigation for being pushed by their employee.

We switched locations because Applebees was struggling and we are so glad we did ! The place is beautiful and smells of fresh grilled peppers. Seating is pretty spacious and the booths have nice high privacy walls . Service was fantastic , food came hot and quick . I had the carnitas and added grilled pineapple and picketed onion. Fantastic flavor , pork was juicy! I would come back for this plate alone. We even had a brave boy eat a raw Serrano pepper . We had a great time, highly recommend.

3 weeks ago I would have rated them a 5 star restaurant for their price point and quality of food. However, they have changed their chips from fresh to chips that taste like they came out of a bag. The same type you get at every mediocre tex mex spot. Big disappointment as I ate there several times a month.

if you are ordering from UBER, be careful. They will leave out parts of your mean and dont really care about the inconvenience. They say its UBERs problem, even though they admit that they did not give a meal to the driver.

Update: Since 2020 serranos is not quite what it once was. Still good food but not the same quality as before History We love Serranos. They are a regular stop every time we come back home. The best Tex-Mex the city of Austin has to offer. The people/service are what make this place far and away better than other spots like Matts El Rancho. They make you feel welcome and not like youre just another open menu about to spend some money. Fajitas are amazing and their queso is will leave you wanting more every time. They truely care about service and understand the customer. Thank you.
