I came in 8/31/2024 and got the chicken bowl. The chicken is minced into small pieces and is lacking any flavor. The beans were overcooked and hard. The rice was overcooked to the point where the grains split and wilted. This establishment is a hard pass go to Chipotle and pay the exact same for a quality meal 10x better than this.

I walked in and the young man behind the counter, immediately upon seeing me walked to the back, saying something to the cook on shift. The manager came out the back and was splendid with her service so it was not all bad. Then, a heavily armed security guard came in and profiled me. If Im wrong, OK, however I was not comfortable with someone with a big gun starring at me as if I am a criminal or a potential criminal. The security guard opened the back door, never taking his eyes off me which made me TREMENDOUSLY uncomfortable. I am a working professional in the area with a bunch of credits and I like Freebirds. If you dont believe me, have them look at the video and discredit this post! God Bless You All!

Completely average way over priced burrito. Just the reg size i got was $11+. Couldnt taste any distinctive flavors. I had a Freebirds burrito when they first came to Austin. Cost half as much and it was very good. Recently moved back to Austin and was excited to revisit...will never eat there again. Especially at that kinda price for a burrito.

Great food, but parking mishap and unhelpful corporate response cost us $100. My wife and I are huge fans of Freebirds, and we regularly visit for their delicious burritos. My personal favorite is the monster burrito with chicken and cauliflower rice, which sets them apart from competitors like Chipotle. However, our recent experience at the South Congress location was ruined by a frustrating parking situation and an unhelpful corporate response. After enjoying a great meal, we took a short walk down the street for ice cream (my wife being 8 months pregnant explains both cravings!). Upon returning, we found a boot on our car and a $100 ticket, leaving us quite confused. Frustratingly, there was no signage near our parking spot explaining that leaving the premises was so strictly forbidden. While the Freebirds manager was kind and pointed out a sign (albeit one not visible from where we parked), the general manager, Tony, couldnt solve the issue, or really help in any way. Our complaint to the corporate email, unfortunately, resulted in a generic email defending the property owner and essentially blaming us, the customer. This felt particularly disheartening considering Freebirds stated value of INTEGRITY - always doing the right thing!, which didnt seem to be upheld in this scenario. Despite the parking hassle and corporate disappointment, we still love the food and have visited other locations since. However, if you go to this South Congress location, be extra cautious about poorly signed parking regulations with draconian enforcement, lest your burrito to cost an extra $100. Parking: They booted our car and charged us $100

I placed an online pickup order for a bowl and a quesadilla. Food was just okay and dining room had crumbs and boxes scattered all over the place. Staff was very unkind. Went to pick up my order. No greeting or anything--fine not a big deal. Guy asked if I was waiting for a pickup. I said yes. He asked for the name. I told him. Then he looked at me with a suspicious glare and asked for my last name so I gave it to him. Does he think I just magically guessed the first name of the pick up order hoping to score a free meal? There was only one order ready for pickup for context. Someone needs to train them on customer service or find someone who will treat paying customers with respect.

I recently moved to Austin. I had never been to a Freebirds, but decided to give it a shot. OMG, BEST experience ever! I wasn t sure what or how to order. Megan helped me put together an amazing bowl, and suggested chips and queso to go along with my meal. All I can say is wow! She was so welcoming and helpful and the food was fabulous. Almost any restaurant can make great food, if they put in the effort. But it s the employees that make or break a dining experience. Megan s a winner. The burritos are massive, and a great value for money, especially when you compare them to other places that serve burritos. these guys have been in business for a while, and the quality of the food is good. I ordered online for a pick up order and the whole user experience was great. I recently ordered a Monster Burrito and chips/salsa from UberEATS, and I must say, I was thoroughly pleased with my experience. The restaurant went above and beyond to accommodate my request for pico de gallo instead of regular salsa, and I truly appreciated their attention to detail. While Im not particularly fond of regular Coca-Cola, I couldnt help but imagine how amazing it would have been if they offered Mexican Coca-Cola as an option. Nevertheless, the food itself was exceptional. The steak in the Monster Burrito was cooked to perfection, and the cauliflower rice added a delightful twist to the dish. I love Freebirds! Its like if Chipotle actually had flavor. The jalapeño sauce is my absolute favorite, and the portion sizes are perfect, with the option of making them bigger. Unfortunately, the vegan option was pretty dried out, and the server was on his own with a line of people. Add more staff - it was lunchtime. Parking is extremely limited, and the spaces are narrow. I wouldnt come with a truck if you can help it.

Ever find yourself craving a burrito and not sure where to go because many of the BYO places are similar? If so, I highly suggest yall consider Freebirds as your go-to. Ive tried them years ago, but I tried them again recently and I cant believe I slept on them! Allow me to explain why I believe theyre better: - Sizes: aside from the industry standard sized burritos you can get, they have smaller ones for small appetites or even BIGGER ones if youre extra hungry! - Tortilla: they have a spicy cayenne one that is a must get over the regular one! - Rice: they have Spanish rice!! I prefer this over white or brown rice any day. - Beans: they have refried beans!! Way better than regular pinto or black beans in my opinion. Such a simple change, yet a drastic improvement. - Fillings: they have more variety of fillings as well. For example, they have potatoes, tortilla strips, and roasted garlic! - Sauces: last, but not least: the sauce variety. They have 9 sauces to choose from, my favorite being achiote chili! Overall, I was highly satisfied with my visit and will def be back!! I give them a solid 5/5 for being amazing.

Im not sure if this is their flagship store being on South Congress, but it certainly could be. The truth is that its like any other Freebirds location where you get to create your own burrito. Freebirds has more toppings and options than any other burrito purveyor, so theres that. This one, though, is cleaner than most, much more organized, and has a drink area with the holy grail of condiments -- lemon packets for iced tea. Those things alone are praiseworthy. The service at this location is pretty efficient as well. If I had one criticism, its the volume of online orders that seem to get filled before walk-in customers. But with it being within walking distance of my office, thats a small price to pay.

I had Grub Hub deliver a burrito to me the other day! It was cold! and when I reheated it in microwave the tortilla just fell apart! Had to eat a burrito with a spoon! I live on Riverside drive just 5 minutes down the street. No reason to deliver a cold burrito!! My order notes were GH241218090317364? I ordered from Grub Hub for 8 pm delivery. Your receipt says promise time was 7:29!?! How long did they ride around with my order getting cold?

I love freebirds! Always an excellent experience! The burritos are delicious, the meat and veggies are fresh, and the staff take pride in making them. Staff is always positive, friendly, and look like they are having fun while working. Ill definitely be back soon!

The foods always good as well as a service however do not hand them a $20 on $11.37 bill only to confuse when you give them a additional $137 on top truly interesting the guy was probably a nuclear physicist on the cash register

Ordered for delivery, burrito and chip w/ queso. They called, said that they didnt have the beans for my burrito, and the did not have the queso. I said thats fine delete the beans, and just deliver the chips w/ salsa. After about 20 minutes received a notification that my order had been canceled. No reason why, and no phone call back. Bad business, and NOT a way to treat customers.

Oh my goodness, this place was delicious! So much better than your average Colorado Chipotle or Qdoba! Im so impressed with the flavors and the service was so nice. Would 100 out of 10 recommend these burritos! And the brownies are so thick, fluffy, so chocolatey and soft! The chips are extra fluffy and thick as well. Amazing food!

I get it that you hate homeless people, but it seems excessive to ask me to check the bottom of my receipt for the bathroom code when I JUST picked up my order and put it in my car. Corporate trickling down stupid rules as a blanket solution to specific problems.
