Its a church chapel pulling double duty [edit: removed masquerading] as a music venue, and just a heads up the space contains all the affiliated religious iconography of a chapel.

Loved this venue. I dont think there is a bad seat in the place. The acoustics and large stage makes for an all round enjoyable experience. Plus there is a well stocked bar in the foyer and the staff are very friendly. They have great shows with top quality acts. We saw Dave Alvin, Jimmy Dale Gilmore and the Guilty Ones who were fabulous.

Great music venue. Reason for 4 not 5 stars: When you check out to buy tickets you are automatically selected to pay $20 for ticket insurance in case you can t go. We could not go to a show last Christmas. I tried to use this, and it gives you a short list of reasons to pick from of why you can t go. If you don t choose the right one, It basically tells you sorry you didn t pick a covered reason. There is no way to know what these covered reasons are. So, just be careful when you check out for tickets to uncheck this insurance box. Otherwise great place, great listening room.

First time there, saw David Ramirez, was phenomenal. Loved the overall vibe. Felt like being in a big living room with a private show with a bar, except the living room was in the shape of a church. Anway, perfect venue for me because I want a comfy chair and not standing in a crowd. Lots of free parking made it even better. Going out anywhere else can kind of feel like a beat down but this was just so easy.

Not the weirdest place Ive seen a rock show, but its close. It was more than a little odd hearing the profane songs of Rhett Miller sung under a cross. Someone there must have a sense of humor though as the lighting guy illuminated the cross as Rhett talked about all the blasphemy in his songs. The 04 Center (aka Austin New Church) had very nice acoustics and the seats were pretty comfy. Another plus: I didnt burst into flames when I crossed the threshold of the building.

Been to 04 Center 2 times. 1st time was a bad experience. Left review & 04 Center invited us back & offered to talk. Went back on 3/25 for Tom Russell concert. Tried to talk to staff but staff was reluctant to talk was evasive & from time to time were flat out mocking me Asked if 04 Center rents space from UMC or if 04 Center is part of UMC? Talked to 6 different people & got 6 answers. From We are the UMC but we re also not the UMC to We re in partnership with UMC to UMC lets us borrow the space. Sent email to 04 Center but just got a reply with a phone No & still no answer. Only thing everyone agreed on is 04 Center is not paying rent to UMC so its safe to say they ARE part of UMC. Upset that as a church they do not conduct their business in a way that reflects the spirit of Christ. Webpage states they want to bring about the Kingdom of God yet the concert experience was the opposite of the Kingdom of God. Heres whats upsetting As a church you should make everyone feel welcome & show world what love of God feels like. Staff wasn t welcoming. They were eyeing me with suspicion the entire time. Lots of fake smiles instead of real genuine love. Off putting to constantly have reminders of what s prohibited flashing on big screens. Didnt feel like a loving place where love & trust prevail. Stepped on stage to snap a pic before show. A guy came sprinting down aisle yelling, looking like he was about to knock me off stage. Aggressive bouncer style behavior isnt appropriate for church. Worst thing a security guy literally standing on stage staring down audience. Through the entire show. VERY uncomfortable. In the Kingdom of God there are no security guys staring us down. Security guards do not belong in a sanctuary. Concert shouldn t be a police state experience. Never experienced this before. Appalling & uncalled for! Super expensive cocktail tables in front of stage, more expensive tickets & cheap tickets in the back of room. A Christian venue should not grant better seats to people who can afford more expensive tickets. The Bible commands us not to show favoritism. This IS showing favoritism. Christian venue should only offer seats on first come first serve basis. They made a lot of money by selling overpriced drinks. Don t see how selling overpriced cocktails to already intoxicated people or in one case stoned does in any way align with Christ s teachings? For communion the UMC uses grape juice instead of wine because alcohol is a stumbling block for many. That s why 04 Center shouldn t sell alcohol inside church. For profit shows & selling expensive drinks? Can t help but think of Jesus turning the tables over at the temple capitalism doesn t belong in a sacred space. Its only ok if profits go to charity. So WHY have a music business in their sanctuary? Only justification is if the church uses concerts as mission field to reach out to people. But didnt see that in any shape or form. I attended the Tom Russell concert. Tom was clearly not doing well. Dont know if it s physically or emotionally but he was pale & sad & shaky. Totally obviously not in a good place. Did 04 Center ever tried to reach out to him? Do you have a pastor there to reach out to people, talk to them, pray with them? To just see if they are ok? Doubt it. We tried to reach out to Tom. Were concerned about Tom. Approached his wife & asked if Tom was ok. We voiced heartfelt & legitimate concern. Any Christian is called to do that. To reach out to your fellow men. To be our brother s keeper. Instead of reaching out to TR staff suddenly asked us to leave. NOT what a Christian should do. Somebody is concerned about a friend who is not doing well & is struggling & you ask them to leave? At the end of the day there is still a cross on top of that building. This is still a sanctuary & is still the House of the Lord.Anybody who is trying to do the will of our Father should always be welcome & should not be asked to leave.Pray about concert business & figure out ways how to do the will of our Father & use space & concerts to actually bring about the Kingdom

Seems like what used to be a church.. or maybe it still is on other days. The makeshift bar was cool, but expensive.. All staff were awesome as hell, I cant say enough to emphasize their awesomeness. Just wish it held more of a music venue vibe rather than what seems like Sunday school.. Check it out.

Comfortable Setting due to smaller seating capacity of 350. Yes, it is a church building, but the seats are comfortable and the view and sound were amazing. Small concession area for beverages and if you reserve a table they will bring them to you by using the app. We are from out of town and were not sure what to expect but this is a GEM and will gladly come back for another event.

I visited the 04 center on June 11, 2022 to see the Mattson 2. I purchased a VIP ticket which was 25$, about double the GA ticket and the VIP section was unregulated. A lot of people just moved up. I felt like labeling a section VIP and charging the higher price was really unnecessary. I did appreciate that the parking was free and plentiful. Also, the venue does not have a full bar, so keep that in mind. Its more of a catering style set-up. I did have great time seeing the Mattson 2 once again. The sound was loud and full in the church haha.
