Super cute dive bar with plenty of outdoor space. Came here for the two step class and left so can t say much about service/products/bands but they do have live music often *with cover charge* Parking: The parking lot fills up quickly ~ I got there early (6-7p) You may have to find parking in the neighborhood so you could end up walking in the dark for a while as the streets are pretty tight and I didn t see any spots coming in/going out.

Came to enjoy a show with some friends only to be bit by a German Shepard as I was pulling into the parking lot on my motorcycle. I told the people there to which they said Is it a German Shepard? So these people know that they have a dog problem with them attacking other folks. People should not have to worry about dogs attacking patrons.

Came here tonight with my dog, who was on leash. There were multiple other dogs off leash around the bar who were sweet and well behaved. Then, an employee with long hair walked out from the bar with his German shepherd off leash. His dog proceeded to run up and attack my 20lb dog. I pried his dog s jaws off of my dog s neck and was able to get it to back off by yelling loudly and startling it. The employee/owner of the aggressive dog simply watched. Even so, I didn t get a chance to say a word to him. In fact, he was the first to speak to ME to say other dogs were not allowed at the bar, inside or outside (subtext: I m kicking you out of this bar because I m a small-pricked boy who is too stupid to properly train my dog and too embarrassed to take responsibility for him ). It left me a little dumbfounded, but I happily left to trot myself down the road to a better bar. Thrilled to never patronize this establishment again and recommend everyone I know to do the same! Very excited to see what eloquent denial the quick-witted owner of this business will post in response to this review!

Sam s was incredible. The music was amazing but the sound was perfect for the space. My ears weren t ringing and I could still talk to people without having to shout. Vibe was fantastic with people dancing and singing along to the music. The place was packed inside and out but it was still relatively easy to navigate. Service was excellent for a place so busy, and the drinks were fast, cold, and well made. The people, staff and patrons, were all friendly. Sam s would be the perfect place to visit as a tourist, but it would also be the perfect regular hangout. Parking: The lot, though large, fills up quick. There are a lot of spots on the surrounding streets, but you might be in for a bit of a walk.

Sams reminded me of what the Broken Spoke uses to be: nothing fancy, good cold beer, good music and nice women to dance with who know how to dance. These days the Spoke is full of tourists who dont know how to dance.

Pretty cool. Saturday night was super crowded. Bar didnt have mixes for basic drinks. Nobody was complaining but it was a $20 cover. Bartenders were way overworked. Youd think there would be a second bar outside with such a big outside area. Prefer not to wait 30 minutes at the bar. Update: I accept that explanation. Marking my calendar! Parking: Had to park wayyyy down the street. There were neighbors outside calling the police on cars parked in front of their houses and driveways.

Sam s Town Point is one of the last true dive bars in Austin, Texas. Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is NOT your standard imitation, pretend we are in old Austin pretentious type dive bar this is the OG South Austin dive! Any given night, you can find great music and very interesting characters at this neighborhood bar. They have a well used dance floor and pool table. Plenty of seats and a great outdoor patio area. This place never disappoints, you will always have a good time at Sam s. Stop by for a few minutes or several hour and have yourself the true, old-school, South Austin experience. Parking: Plenty of parking most days, but on weekends and during special events the parking lot fills up quickly. In this case there is some free street parking available. It is really best to take a ride share service to and from.

Great authentic dive bar all around except for brown and black medium sized dog that got startled at truck being turned on in parking lot as I walked over to talk to a friend it ran up and latched on the side of my knee 1/15/23 for a second. Im a dog lover, have dogs, have never been bit by a dog before ever in my life. It managed to break skin through tough carhartt pants I wear for construction. Love the dogs there but not cool if you get bit if you were walking in the parking lot.

Great South Austin experience! This place has classic honky tonk feel with a cozy interior which is very dated and adds to the ambiance. The back patio has amazing live oaks and a cozy backyard feel. They often have bands with a groovy 2stepn beat and definitely good to hit dance floor for some Texas swing. The pool table is also a nice addition to keep things lively on a week night. Bring your friends out and boogie down!

Although I ve always enjoyed a great dive, Sams is a tad too much of a dive. I feel like the floor is about to give away. LoL if the weather is nice, I much prefer their outdoors shows than the uncomfortable inside. I m an Austin native and a live music addict. So in terms of the sound quality, inside was actually very good. The bands I ve seen there are the stars as they always are at any small Austin venue. We are very lucky to have places like this to see the many many talented musicians who grace us in Austin Texas The Live Music Capital of the World

One of the coolest music clubs in Austin. Rumored to have been a Prohibition era speakeasy, this rustic building is hidden in a neighborhood. Open every day, music acts most every night. Friday & Saturday usually feature an iconic band with a great opener. Huge back yard, tables, chairs, and an excellent Tex-Mex-etcetera food truck. Full bar, draft beers and cold brew coffee on tap. Wheelchair-accessible. Weekends draw all ages. Several friendly dogs roam about. The dance floor is usually dominated by talented western swing dancers, but theres room to just get up and shake that thang.
