Terrible experience with who I assume was either the owner or the owners spouse. I was on a business trip and spent the last 3 days going out with large groups. I decided to grab dinner here before a show at the theater down the street and spend some time to myself. At first I sat down and made some small talk with the couple next to me but they were clearly out on a date, so when my food came I started texting with my wife and brother to catch them up on my trip. Apparently this greatly offended the woman next to me who I assume was an owner or related to the owner since she went behind the bar several times. She decided to make me her business even though I wasnt bothering anyone and was paying for drinks and food. She decided to berate and lecture me that I shouldnt be using my phone and should be talking to the bartender for entertainment. She also did this loudly in front of her staff and other guests. I paid and quickly left after eating. Thanks for ruining my meal for no reason. Make sure to steer clear of here. Other reviews mention instances of weird and unpleasant behavior from the staff. The pizza was overpriced but tasted okay. The beer was good.

Food is excellent, service just as good, drinks yummy! It s small but they ve made the most of seating inside and on the patio. We loved the vibe. It reminded us of restaurants in NYC. We enjoyed the calamari, chicken parmesan and lasagna. My husband had rum and coke while I enjoyed a few Margarita No28 s! Finished the meal with cannoli s. Kid-friendliness: Table close together, seemed more like dining in a bar inside. Don t see it as a kid friendly place unless you sat outside.

This was our first visit to Numero28. We were there when they opened at 4:30 p.m., on a Wednesday. We learned about it through @512bites on Instagram. We parked at a nearby parking garage, as parking can be difficult downtown. There is limited indoor and outdoor seating. We were immediately seated since we were there early. Happy hour started when we arrived. My wife had a cocktail and then a Peroni. I wanted an old fashioned with a well bourbon. The person taking our drink order came back and said I couldnt get an old fashioned. He was not at all friendly. Fortunately, a lady behind the bar heard this and said she would make one for me. She was super nice! Luckily, another lady came in while we were seated and took over our table. She was very nice as well! We had the Numero28 pizza, with a bit of sauce added. It was fantastic!! I think it was one of the best pizzas Ive had. I had the tiramisu for dessert, and it was very good too. Aside from the initial sour greeting and service, the overall service was good, and the food was excellent. Well definitely come back!

December 2023 Austin is not Manhattan but dining at Numero28 made me felt like it. This little Italian restaurant is located in the 2nd Street District has great atmosphere with excellent cuisine. It was early in the day so was able to be seated plus it was a little chilly outside. The menu both in Italian and English which perhaps better to have two menus where I can read some Italian and wold add more authenticity to this place. But there was a wide range of choices to choose from. Since this was my first time here I just quickly selected the Pollo Alla Parmigiana and glass of Pinot Grigio with the Garlic Foccacia Bread Basket as our starter. The garlic foccacia bread was the first course and placed in the middle of the table. It was very presentable with six triangle cut up pieces. Two were grabble quickly before I cold take a photo of showing how attractive they were. They tasted so good and with the olive oil on it added more flavor. The bread had a nice crunchy crust with softness in the middle, and was thin like a flatbread. Next was the chicken parmigiana and again was very presentable with a nice aroma. The breaded chicken was sitting on top of spaghetti with tomato sauce and mozzarella on top of it. The chicken was delicious with great flavor. It was easy to cut with a fork showing how soft it was. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and complimented it very well. It was very enjoyable. The service was top notch and tended to us with precision. My random menu selection paid off well and ready to return to try one of their pizzas and homemade gelato.

Looked awesome. The brunch was subpar. We spent 10 minutes waiting for drinks even though they were dead because the bartenders were both finishing their cigarettes out front. When they came in, we got our drinks and were then ignored the rest of the time while they complained to each other loudly in front of us and the other couple at the bar. Probably 12 employees walking around with nothing to do, but we were still mostly ignored. Maybe it s better when they have to be busy. 3 stars because the host and the bussing employees were nice. Won t be back.

I had a rather disappointing experience at this restaurant. The gnocchi was dry and lacked flavor, while the ravioli tasted like it had been frozen, not fresh. My wife and I have been here probably 10 times now and I would definitely consider it our go-to date night spot. Great location in the middle of downtown, great service always, very reasonable prices, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, and most importantly the food is always delicious! Ive made my way through 80% of the menu now and everything is excellent but I would say our favorites are the Bruschetta trio appetizer, the Cesar salad, the chicken parm, and of course their cacio a Pepe is a must. Theyre always busy but always seem to have a table available, weve never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes to be seated. Next time you decide to do a last minute dinner, check them out! Wish I had more photos, I will also add that the espresso martini affogato with pistachio gelato is the best I have ever had.

We ordered an overpriced DOC pizza (ie. Margherita with Buffalla Mozzarella). The pizza came out with plain mozzarella and the team came arguing with me that it was buffala (it wasn t). Eventually conceded that indeed, it wasn t. On a prosciutto pizza they missed adding the shaved parmigian cheese also called it out but no action was taken. They still had the guts to not correct the price of the pizza down to a regular margherita (a $16 difference on my order) and force a large party tip of 20%. Lastly the pizza is not that good and certainly does not justify the super premium prices they aim for.

Im becoming increasingly more bothered about horrible customer service in Austin. Numerous issues with our dining experience. First, witnessed our waitress petting someones big fluffy dog while they were standing outside waiting for their food and then going up to multiple tables without washing her hands. Asked our waitress how many servings for the cacio e pepe. After discussing it we went with 2 orders for 4 people. Including our appetizers food was a little slow coming out. (Appetizers were good in taste) First cacio e pepe came out. Server put 2 plates in front of the 2 people at the end of the table and served them the entire pasta bowl. The remaining 2 patiently waiting for their pasta finally asked when theres will be out. The waitress said That was the pasta. It was a serving for all of you Mind you one of the people already ate their entire plate of pasta! In much confusion we said we ordered 2 and didnt even receive plates so how are we supposed to know that?! Her response was well you could have asked for plates Then handing us the receipt with 2 pasta bowls on there even though 2 of us didnt even get to eat any pasta and then adding a gratuity tip on there for a table of 4... Manager came. Handled it well with a great attitude besides the fact of stating She walked away out of frustration which is understandable Glad poor communication and behavior is understandable and tolerated when youre paying these extreme prices anymore for a great experience (service included) when dining out.

Calling all Italophiles, this restaurant is the real deal. Having travelled recently in Italy, I miss the tastes, sights, service and pace of La Dolce Vita, especially after a long work week. With the crew in from corporate for MotoGP, I seized the opportunity to combine work with pleausure and booked a dinner with the owner, Marco, for staff and clients. He and Numero 28 team did not disappoint. Their warm attention to detail provides an authentic Italian experience, as they carefully attend to the needs of each guest, suggesting just the right wine or liqueur with each dish, perfectly paced for lingering over a meal all evening or grabbing a bite before heading to ACL. Here you will find a divine combination of traditional home dishes, street food and more labor-intensive, pastas, flatbreads and main courses. Numero 28 is an understated gem amidst the see-be-seen of the 2nd Street District. Do not let its modest appearance and lack of pretension fool you. And do not miss out on the dolci: sensing our satiation, our bartender, the divine Ms. AJ, concocted a diminutive version of the restaurants well known umpteen-ingredient espresso martini to be sipped alternatively with bites of housemade gelato. I cannot say enough good about this place. My only hesitation is that you will read this and come here and I wont be able to get a Resy.

We expressed a preference not to occupy the first corner table due to a large group nearby, but the host declined other options. Eventually, we were directed to the bar area, prompting us to depart immediately. Unfortunately, the initial encounter set a negative tone for the entire experience.

I normally dont give negative ratings to any restaurant, but this merits one. Food was par, and although we normally have drinks, we opted for tea. Our server asked if we wanted refills, said yes, then charged full price at 4$ a glass without mentioning a charge for refills. Then theres the seating. There were two of us with plenty of available tables for seating. Instead of being seated in a table that seats 4, we had to wait for a table for 2. Yes, there were plenty of staff to address available tables that remained empty throughout our dinner. We dont plan on returning.

Came here for happy hour and was very disappointed, they were lacking items on their menu. The food was good, but very simple, lacked creativity, and plain. I wasn t wowed by any of the items I got here. Any home cook could replicate anything they made for less than half of what they charge. I genuinely do not think the food was worth it. More so, the interior is so outdated and felt I was in an Olive Garden from the 2000s. I would just go to North Italia if you re craving Italian food, it s right up the street. Wait staff was sweet though!

Usually have a 5 star experience here but not this time. One of the female employees came up to us when we got our food and called out my friend for checking a cell phone and said my one rule is no phones we should be eating our food Strange thing to say to people being respectful and spending money at your restaurant. Hopefully this is an isolated incident as numero 28 is of my favorite spots in Austin.

One of the most pleasant evenings you could ask for. My gf and I had a showing at violet crown beforehand and decided to catch a quick bite and chose this place because it was so close. Best decision we could have made. AJ the bar manager was so welcoming and sweet and didnt even let us order our own food because she knew what we should get and boy was she right. If you get a chance, go to the bar and let her order everything for you. You will not be disappointed. We will be back again and again and again. Best Italian food in ATX.

The best Italian food I ve had in Texas! Being from Europe, I tend to have high standards for Italian food and this place nailed it. The owner was incredibly welcoming, and when one of the food items we ordered wasn t to our liking, he compensated us with some great tiramisu. Everything is fresh! Try the eggplant parmigiana, which is exactly how you would get it in Italy. They make a great espresso martini as well! Service is top notch. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Matt was great to have at our table and made sure everything was up to par. Italian food in Austin? Go here or bust.
