If you are considering options, this is definitely the law firm to go to. I used Scott Nyitray as my attorney for a custody battle and he and his team are amazing. Very committed, communicative and compassionate. I was very pleased with the outcome, but through the whole stressful ordeal, Scott told me exactly what to expect and what to do and I never doubted that I d picked the right firm and attorney. When we got to the courtroom, that confidence was reaffirmed. It was obvious that Scott and the firm he represents is respected and has a good reputation in the family law circuit.

Travis is a good human and a wonderful attorney. He is well respected, which is helpful. He was no nonsense and while not as friendly with me as another attorney I worked with and love he got the job done and kept things focused. He has a simplistic approach and I appreciated it. I am thankful for the outcome and thankful for Travis during that time. In the end of what was otherwise good, I was saddened by Travis s responses to my concerns about billing and about some errors made billing and otherwise. Errors that cost me money that would have been not incurred in some instances and in other instances would have been covered by the other side (who was ordered to pay legal fees) had those fees been presented. I think it would behoove any attorney to review with their client errors their staff made and to be a bit more careful and caring when handling client funds. I felt like I was kind, caring, and reasonable despite the errors and would have appreciated being treated with more decency and dignity when I attempted a discussion.

Travis Turner has been our divorce attorney for many years. My husband unfortunately agreed to a poorly drafted divorce decree in 2008, which led to many years of ongoing conflict with his ex-spouse. Travis worked tirelessly on our behalf. He was able to negotiate a modification to the original divorce decree, leading to thousands of dollars saved in unnecessary spousal support. Additionally, over the last 10 years, Travis has assisted in resolving ongoing custodial arguments, as well as, dismissing false claims to child support arrears. In so many ways, Travis Turner has been a voice of reason amidst a tremendous amount of stress. I know it is Travis Turner s job, but it is our life, and I feel that he went above and beyond. I would recommend, without reservation, Travis Turner and his law firm to anyone going through a complex or contentious divorce. They are the best in Austin!

Becca and AJ were absolutely the best team! From the moment of my consultation I knew this was the firm that I would be going with to assist me through my divorce. Becca listened to everything that I was concerned about, she asked questioned, she made me think about things that hadn t even crossed my mind, I knew with her representation that I would be in the best hands. Every step along the way they helped me understand the process, they were amazingly fast drafting the temporary order and making sure that was in place immediately since there is a child from my marriage. They filed all the paperwork, after the 60 day waiting period we considered all the factors and they were able to draft the Final Decree and worked with me the whole time. I was able to email any time I had a question or a concern came to my head. They filed the initial request for divorce with the court at the beginning of January and my divorce was signed and finalized in June! I appreciate Becca and AJ so much. They made an overwhelming decision simpler to understand and I knew they had my best interests at heart the whole time.

At the worst time of your life, Travis & Michael, their associates, and particularly their excellent paralegal, Gina, are there. Two things: (1) this is the firm other lawyers pick to represent them in a divorce and (2) this is one of the few practices that wont waste your time, and as importantly your money, on nonsense or nastiness. Expect experienced, professional, thoughtful, advice. Demand no less from any counsel you hire in a family law matter. Avoid those that just traffic in nastiness - might sound good, but it costs a lot for nothing. Results first: BurnettTurner.

I can t say enough about Travis Turner, Gina Schroeder, and the team at Burnett Turner. Travis was recommended to me, and I in turn have highly recommended Travis to a few of my close friends when they needed assistance. The way they handled the day I was served helped reassure and enable me to move forward through the uncertainty that followed. Gina called me within 20 mins of being served, and I was meeting with Travis in his office a few hours later (a Friday afternoon). They both outlined the process, took the time to really learn the details, and focused on learning what was important to me and my daughter. From the beginning to the end, I never felt like I was just a client by either Travis or Gina, but that they genuinely cared about my and my family s future. As for the case.... Travis came up with an approach and strategy that we stuck to throughout the process. He kept in mind what I said I wanted/ needed from the beginning and when I wavered, always brought me back to that. He ensured we stayed focused on the end game, including maintaining the potential for future co-parenting, and didn t engage in frivolous or non-purposeful actions. Travis and Gina never wasted time or money on unnecessary things. Their approach from the beginning was focused and purposeful and things played out exactly the way they said it would. Travis is smart, direct, straight forward, and professional. He was masterful in action, such as in the temporary order hearing/ negotiation, deposition, and mediation. His negotiation skills are first rate. He was well prepared throughout and ensured I knew what to expect and was prepared for those events. He always played it straight with me, and never made promises he couldn t keep. And he delivered . The outcome and the speed in which he delivered it exceeded my expectations and in the end created the conditions to build a new life for my daughter and I on my terms. Last but not least Gina Schroeder is the best . She was a constant source of support, sometimes calling just to check in. She was diligent in handling a massive amount of discovery requests from the other side meant to slow down the process, and supported the blistering pace strategy that Travis employed. And she had a strong grasp of complex financials that I thought would be a source of contention, but wasn t thanks to her. I could go on and on She was just wonderful. I wouldn t go with anyone other than Travis and his team.

$29,000+ WASTED in 3 MONTHS! June 2017-Sept 2017 I suggest hiring a different firm. Yes, this was 2 years ago but my husband had an issue involving the verbiage of the new court order for an entire year and 1 month to be exact after the case was closed. Ill get to that towards the end of this review. 1. They decided to forgo our depositions in order to not have the court day moved! Without asking us. Preparing our depositions had already been paid for and were certainly a huge part of our case. (Proof in emails they were important to us). Not having them preformed changed everything! Not only the direction of the case but every decision my husband would have to make from that point on. 2. We were charged double. Every-time our Lawyer talked with his paralegal about our case we were charged twice for his time AND his paralegals time talk among each other. 3. My husband did not agree in mediation but several days after during the day of my grandmothers funeral he signed the mediation papers :( Once again, remember our lawyer decided on his own to not preform our depositions so that the court date wouldnt be moved back. Kind of a BIG deal! We had every intention to go in front of a judge but without our depositions and facts our case seemed kinda pointless. We no longer had the confidence to go in front of a judge at this point and my husband signed these mediation papers out of fear. 4. Case closed in Sept 2017. About 5 Months later my husband began receiving letters that he was in arrears! He had never been in arrears. Basically the verbiage of his new court order (health insurance part) wasnt being accepted by the Attorney General of child support. *** Faulty order. 5. It was negotiated and written in the new order that My husband could opt to carry the health insurance policies and as long as he did he would not be obligated to reimburse the mother of child. We contacted the lawyer about these arrears letters and he did try to help. He drafted a new addition to the health care part of the new court order the AG would accept. But guess what??? Theres more! The mother of the child wouldnt sign it! Who would of thought? Its not like she had anything to lose--- (More drama created because of a faulty order) After 29k+ Spent A client should never have to deal with this type of aftermath! 6. Now we had to make an appointment with the AG that both my husband and childs mother would have to attend. That day finally came and a few good things came from that meeting. My husband got a new order, husbands CS dropped $10 as well as what he would have to reimburse Childs mother for insurance if he ever decided to no longer carry the health care policys himself. This was actually great! However, this was all accomplished by me! MY time and efforts! Im also the one who paid the $29k+. 7. After all this I decided to email the firm that I wasnt happy with the cost of services provided. I waited this long because I wanted to get through the AG stuff that took a year and 1 month to finalize. There were obviously factual reasons not to be happy with the money paid for the services provided. 8. We emailed back and forward a couple times and then they ghosted me. This is when I filed for a fee dispute meeting. 9. We finally had the fee dispute meeting- I even hired another attorney for this ($1000 more dollars). We were in separate rooms. After about 2 hours the firm offered me $800!!! My husband, our lawyer and I were in absolute shock! So we countered back with a higher number than planned because of their insulting $800 dollar offer and GUESS what!!!! THEY WALKED OUT! HOW PROFESSIONAL! I hope if you consider hiring this firm that youve read this super long review so that you can be prepared! Be extra couscous about how they handle your case and decisions they make. DETAILS MATTER. They should work for you! That means not making big decisions without your approval and also writing a New Court order correctly the first time!

I have & will always referred Travis to everyone I come across! Through out my entire divorce, Travis was the bull dog who got things done & Ruth was my zen navigator who kept me calm. I was advised early on by Travis how be prepared & Ruth made sure I knew there was light at the end of the tunnel. They made sure I didn t get stuck in a long divorce that left me poor & on the street with my kids. Travis defended what was fair & just for my children & I. Everything you never thought your husband would do to you, mine did. It was the worst divorce I had ever heard of, but Travis & Ruth orchestrated it amazingly. Im so very disappointed in Michael Burnett, the lack of genuine effort he gave my case, his participation in the family law systems racketeering, and his deceitful techniques. He knew how my case was going to turn out before he even really lifted a finger, which reflects how broken the system is and how little invested he was in helping my son and me. Ive met some other parents who had similar experiences with him; hence, me learning that some of his actions were actually common techniques of his. Its so heart-wrenching because these are families in crises and typically one parent gets alienated from the child[ren] and extremely abused by the family law systems. Clients be wary of Mr. Burnetts close connections with Jake Gilbreath (attorney involved in the tragic Kaplan case) and that he and Turner were once partners with Mr. Piper and several other attorneys. All these attorneys are fish swimming in the same pond. The judges swam in that same pond, too; many of them are golf and former drinking buddies. Not only are there paradigm issues, but also loyalty and implicit & explicit bias issues. Parents really need to understand that family law is a complete racket. Just so the readers know, I was able to resume 50/50 JMC once the attorneys got out of the picture and my ex-husband was no longer negatively empowered by the family law systems. So often when a parent posts a negative review, the attorneys will come back with a statement to invalidate the review. I believe the attorneys are in the front lines of accountability for the violence these families in crises are experiencing. They are the hired guns or agents of war, and, truth be known, the driving forces. Whats in it for them? Money. Its all about the money for them, their colleagues, and their networks. Travis Turner, Ruth and Scott Nyitray are better than the best. First, Travis is on another level when it come to family law. His professionalism, thoughtfulness, and straight forward approach is what makes him above everyone else. Travis is the most talented and gifted attorney I have ever used. He treated me like a person and not like a number. If I needed him for any reason he was there. On one occasion when I needed him the most, there were no questions asked. He put on his coat and took care of business. To have someone like that on your side during one of the most difficult times in your life makes the process a little easier. Looking at the reviews for this law firm, we wish we would have gone with Travis Turner. He seems to have the tenacity to WIN! Approximately two years and $25,000 later resulted in an undesirable outcome. Save your money.

I worked here for about a month and a half. I absolutely loved the attorneys and the paralegals. Their receptionist definitely made me feel welcomed since my interview. My husband bought me a plane ticket to go visit him for my birthday about 3 weeks into starting my new job. I went to my office manager and asked if I could take that monday, and she gave me a clear no. Since I was unable to change my flight to another day, i switched to the morning and came straight to work from the airport. Which I informed the office including my office manager through the correct route which is through the office calendar. Nonetheless, a week later when my office manager came back from her vacation, she fired me for taking half a day. Since I was in my probation period. But 3 of us were recent hires. And i was never late and did not miss as many days as the other 2, which would also take 1/2 days constantly to tend to their lives. Or an hour here and there. Understandably, so The reason was to me, mind blowing since I gave it 110% there, (i am ex military, and i work as i trained for HR and to complete a task in a timely and efficient manner) Ultimately I dont need a job that is gonna find the first minor excuse to let me go, so Im glad I didnt waste my time here, if it comes down to it, my personal opinion is that i was treated this way for being a minority. I have held many professional jobs and i know I am ethical and professional and being let go for something that not only everyone else was doing (which was as far as I could tell, acceptable), but without even being written up or any warning, leads me to feel this way. Again, it is my personal opinion. You decide for yourselves.

Travis is an incredibly professional, smart, organized, and thoughtful attorney. He did a terrific job handling my unusual divorce case, as did his staff. Divorce is never easy even if amicable. There are always complexities and it was so settling and reassuring to have Travis navigate me through the entire process. He is very easy to talk with and never passes judgment. He just want to find a path for you that results in a fair settlement. During the process I could focus on other important aspects of my life such as work since I knew Travis was on top of my case and making sure everything was proceeding properly. Gina, his paralegal, was also an important part of the team. She was always very calming when there were aspects of the process which I did not understand or times when I was concerned. Travis Turner represented me in the precedings of my divorce/custody hearing. I found him and his firm to be very professional and found him to be extremely bright. The divorce/custody hearing was moved to a different State as expected but Travis laid the ground work for a successful outcome. His advice and expertise in the initial hearing benefited me till the end. Im happy to say that I gained majority custody of my son by the end which is often difficult for a father to get. I definitely recommend his firm. Update from 2017: Travis Turner represented me when my ex-wife attempted to take away primary custody from me. This was the second time that I used Travis services for a custody dispute. In both cases Ive been pleased with his knowledge and professionalism. He and his team pay close attention to detail and had me and my childs best interest in mind throughout the process. Hopefully, this is the last time I have to deal with a custody dispute but if its not Ill have Travis represent me again.

Words cannot convey the appreciation I have for Travis, Christi and Ruth. Their hard work allowed me, a single father to win custody of my daughter. As any father in this position knows its an uphill battle trying to gain custody of your child as you feel like you have no rights. Originally I started out with one of the well known, nationally advertised Father Rights law firms. Within a few months I began to feel like I was getting a cookie cutter service, as if they were handling my case according to a rule book. Once I was awarded a court date, I began to look for a new lawyer before the Father Rights firm became too involved in my case making it both expensive and difficult to start over with a new firm. I interviewed several law firms and knew after speaking with Travis for only 30 minutes that Burnett Turner was the one. I could not have been more right, Travis, Christi and Ruth handled my case in an exemplary manner which resulted with me gaining custody of my daughter, in effect saving her life. Even though he wasnt representing me for most of my divorce, he was kind enough when I reached out needing someone at the last minute to help me with a court appearance. Travis Turner and his staff were nothing but accommodating to me during my recent hiring of their law firm. They were very thorough and extremely punctual in my case. Travis preparation was extremely well thought out and his acumen in the court room is intimidating at the very least. I felt very secure with him by my side and his knowledge of family law was so good that the judge mentioned several times how impressed he was. I personally had a horrible experience with this firm. My ex canceled my health insurance, my attorney did nothing. I requested my last name to be changed back to my maiden name, my attorney did not include this in the decree and I had to pay an additional $300 to have it legally changed and after close to spending $15,000 I was given a stack of papers and a cover letter presented by Courtney. When asked where do I go to turn in the deed for my home, she said she was late for a meeting. The gentlemen at the front desk helped. Would not recommend their services.

I was referred to Mr. Gilbreath through a friend. Ive often found that references by word-of-mouth are the best. This could not have been more true. Mr. Gilbreath was absolutely phenomenal, I could not have asked for anything more. He got to work right away assisting me with a difficult divorce. Divorces can be financially and emotionally straining to go through, but with Mr. Gilbreath by my side it was a breeze. Mr. Gilbreath was always attentive and responded quickly to any questions, calls, or emails. Joyce A. 05/27/2014 We switched to Travis Turner midway through a child custody suit and he immediately took action and filed things that should have been filed by our previous attorney and researched and answered questions we had yet to get answered within the first two days of receiving the case. Looking back, the decision to change to Travis is what changed the direction of the whole case, which at that time was not very favorable for us. This was a very difficult case with numerous parties involved and Travis had the skill, knowledge, staff and expertise to pull it off. He kept us informed throughout the entire process and would send us copies of everything he filed and every response from the opposing party. He responded very timely to all of our questions and fears, was very honest and forthright about what we could expect and was always a step ahead of the opposing party. He and his paralegal, Denise, were very well prepared for trial and had thought out every possible scenario that could occur and had a well thought out strategy to counter. In addition, Travis and Denise truly had a vested interest in our case and the best interest of the child at stake. Throughout the case, there were times when fear would grip us, but Travis was always there to offer support and assurance. He understood the emotional roller coaster we were going through and was always able to make us feel more reassured and confident. I was referred to Travis Turner a few years ago, when I was overwhelmed by the circumstances resulting from the stupidly generous settlement I made a couple of years prior with my ex-wife. Once he recovered from the shock of reading the document, Travis was BRILLIANT in coming up with potential solutions and strategies which resulted in a much fairer deal for me (he literally got my life back for me) - while still leaving my ex with a generous financial arrangement. Over 4 years ago I found Travis Turner and decided to hire him while going thru my divorce. While going thru the process, Travis was extremely helpful in helping me get past the emotions of my divorce and start focussing on the end results. Not only did he help assure that I get joint custody of my kids, he made sure the arrangement was beneficial in every way possible. Since I have kids, my divorce will probably never feel like its over since I will be dealing with my ex for many years to come. Thru the years, whenever my ex has tried to come after me for money, and even once tried to take me to mediation, Travis walked the walk. He has never mislead me, and has always been extremely confident in where he stands with each issue. My ex never got another dime from me, and has since left me alone. I cannot say enough about my experience with Travis. Not only is he amazing at what he does, but he is genuinely a nice guy. He is extremely easy to talk to, and he is great at making sure everything is explained thoroughly. I acquired Travis Turners representation in Dec 2011, thanks to a recommendation from a close friend. From our first meeting to today, Travis has been the most valuable asset in my corner! I relayed on Traviss expertise and followed his instructions/recommendations to a tee. I believe this allowed me to walk away from this unfortunate situation with my head held high.
