AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. If you would like a competent lawyer that has your best interest in mind, I would advise you to find someone else. I used Joe to file for a divorce and he did not review my marriage agreement (which I sent to him upon retaining him) until the opposing counsel brought it to his attention months later. There was a date error on this certificate which VASTLY changed my liabilities - from nearly 0 to my house, business, etc. He provided no legal advice and advised me to go along with whatever the opposing counsel suggested, even though it was not in my best interest . He would not answer a single question I asked him and would charge me $100+ for each one sentence email he would send to me that did not provide any guidance. He was extremely discouraging and did not suggest mediation. He merely suggested I give up and pay out 50%+ even though my situation was very unique and not clear-cut (a signed, informal marriage agreement with a date discrepancy). If I continued with Joe I would have given up an extra ~$500k in my divorce. In the end I paid $4500 for him to draft a boilerplate divorce petition and forward emails from the opposing attorney with no legal advice.

Joe and his staff have helped me with a very difficult child support issue, that has lasted for close to four years. I live out of state, and Joe has assisted me every step of the way. When it came time for our court hearing; Joe smoothly guided me during my testimony to the judge. Grandparent Guardianship Success 5.0 stars Posted by DeAnn June 20, 2022 I highly recommend Joe and his team to you. This is my story. I have guardianship of my granddaughter for the last 6 years. This last year the mother made an attempt to kidnap my granddaughter at her camp. I was out of town and Joe was on vacation. I got a call from the camp that the mother wanted to take my granddaughter out of camp to see a dying relative. The mother in the court order had no visitation rights to her child. I called Joe and within 15 minutes he was talking to the police at the camp and the officer told the mother she had to leave because of the court orders we had. I could have lost my granddaughter forever if it wasn t for Joe being on watch for his clients even on his vacation. I will never forget that horrifying day when I got the call from the camp, Joe began work on terminating the mothers rights and we won in court. Joe is amazing human being. We will forever keep him in our prayers.

Look no further...Joe and his team are the best! I procured Joe as my divorce attorney through a referral ( another well known attorney ), and I cant express enough how grateful I am. Hes truly genuine, very talented and actually committed/focused on his individual clients. I m certain that Joe and his team see cases like ours all the time. However, when your biggest love is being a father and a divorce threatens the possibility of not having your children 50/50. A fear of uneasy sets in and you can t get that out of your mind. Joe studied my case. He asked real questions and he needed full transparency. We gave him everything he asked for. After meeting with Joe, He told me that this will be a process and he had our family s best interest Mind. After a year of back and forth and having to provide everything under the sun. Joe Newberry was my family attorney for about 1.5 years. He and his staff were extremely attentive, professional and honest. Joe always gave me options that he believed were in the best interest of my child and family. I cant think of a single time where I needed him in an emergency (including weekends) and couldnt get in touch. He was always ready and willing to get in the court room, if needed. Joe acts with the upmost integrity and really cares about the outcome. Joe is an excellent critical thinker and is quick on his feet. Joe is a good attorney and he s a good and honest guy. I ve worked with him for quite some time now and I definitely appreciate his no nonsense approach and knowledge of the law and complex legal matters. He remained calm and has kept me calm in the face of some weird stuff from the other side. Regardless of tactics displayed, he has always kept the kids at the forefront of the matter doing the right thing throughout. Joe has a good team working with them. I really like the main paralegal assigned to my case, Leslie, and it s nice that he always brings her to hearings, etc. with him. She s smart, helpful, and has a common sense approach. She does a good job in her work whereas I ve seen other paralegals at other firm(s) that frequently spelled things incorrectly, made careless mistakes, and weren t very thorough. That s not the case with Leslie and I really appreciate it. It s hard to be taken seriously when pleadings are riddled with careless errors and that has not been my experience with this firm. Melissa, another paralegal on my case, is also friendly and helpful - I just haven t worked with her as much as Leslie. Family matters are tough to navigate and it s important to have a steadfast advocate that keeps their focus on what s most important, listens to your needs and the needs of your children, and fights for same when necessary.

There are no words to express my gratitude and appreciation for what Joe, Leslie, and Melissa did for me and my family. I was blessed and fortunate that I came across Joes name when trying to find an attorney to salvage my case after my first attorney and 9 months pro se had put my case in what seemed like a no-win situation. My case had already gone on for over 2 years when I hired Joe. I had gone through a mediation on my own, and had a GAL assigned. I have always thought that the truth would prevail, but I was so WRONG. I was in the process of being railroaded by a GAL who was completely snowed under by the other party and was eventually given, by her own admission, the most restrictive visitation recommendation she had ever given. I was looking at seeing my daughter ONCE a quarter! Joe and his team went in to action, and after well over a year of fighting for me, Joe was able to get me standard visitation. Joe fought two attorneys on top of the GAL recommendation and was able to overcome all of that to give me and my family the outcome we deserved. He fought through every roadblock that was thrown in our way, and was able to give my daughter what she deserves. I could go on forever about all Joe did for us, but it would never give justice to what he was able to do. I give Joe the highest possible recommendation. Joe Newberry and his staff can be summed up in one word; PROFESSIONAL. Joe and his staff work efficiently, quickly, respectfully, and dynamically to resolve legal family matters. I began looking for an attorney in Mid-December to assist with lowering my child support and getting more custody of my son. I browsed a few attorneys on the internet and requested contact from a few. I received phone calls from two of the firms one morning and spoke to a paralegal at each firm. I wasnt feeling great about my options until later that afternoon when I got a call from Joe Newberrys firm. To my surprise it was Joe himself calling. Immediately I was impressed. He asked about my current circumstances, what I was wanting to change, and a little bit about the background between my ex and I. After a few minutes of talking to Joe, I knew I found my guy. Joe was very direct, assertive, easy to talk to and left me with the feeling that I truly had someone in my corner. Within an hour, Joe had emailed me the required forms to get started and told me as soon as he got those back, he would begin working on my case. He wasnt lying. The following week he asked for photos of my living situation as he wanted to have those as proof that I was able to provide a healthy living environment for my son. This is just one example of Joe and his team being proactive. Throughout the entire process, Joe was constantly in contact via phone or email to ask questions, update me with where we were in the process, what the next steps were, and most importantly, to get my thoughts and opinions regarding things. Joe discussed all matters with me and allowed me to have a part in the decisions instead of just doing what he thought was best. At times Joe would tell me something wasnt a good idea by providing details, stating facts, giving pros and cons, and laying it all out for me to make the decision. He made everything very simple to understand. Joe and his staff did not keep me in the dark on anything, and I was constantly in the loop on what was taking place, what our next move should be, etc. Going through a custody case is hard enough and I couldnt imagine going through it without knowing what was going on. Joe continuously sought the best solution for my son, rather than for myself of anyone else. The entire process felt like Joe took on my case as a father more-so than an attorney, and that speaks volumes for the kind of attorney Joe is. Joe and his staff are well organized, extremely knowledgeable, proactive, and direct every step of the way. Joe had everything prepared weeks in advance with everything from pay stubs, pictures of my house and bedroom for my son, new child support amount, and even a letter he asked me to write to the judge. Joe was so well prepared we had nothing but time to wait on my ex and her attorney to reach back out to begin negotiations or wait for court. Joe continued to push the issue with my exs attorney and ultimately got my case settled outside of court. I hired him in mid December and we were settled by mid March. Like I said, Joe and his staff work efficiently and quickly. I knew what I wanted in an attorney when I began my search. I wanted an attorney who was a parent and could be empathetic to a good father, someone who would listen and be direct throughout the process, one who would do what was in the best interest of the child and not myself or the money and wasnt in to taking the other person for everything possible, and I wanted an attorney that would fight for me and my rights quickly, effectively, assertively, and successfully. Joe Newberry and his law firm are all of those things. I highly recommend Joe Newberry for any family law matter that requires legal representation. STAY AWAY from this firm. its that simple. He and his Mother Judy know nothing but eating your money. They absolutely do not prepare until the last moment and they give the other party everything to avoid facing the judge. They have changed their office name to avoid the previous bad reviews. STAY AWAY from this firm. I had to fire Joe Newberry after he worked on my divorce case for around 5 months. It kept me wondering if my lawyer was working for me or was getting paid by opposing party and working for them. My spouse filed an annullment for marriage a month after i filed divorce and they kept this a secret from me. I was never informed about such an important issue. My lawyer kept it a SECRET frome me.Because of my lawyers mistake opposing counsel called for video deposition and scheduled it after 15 days and when i asked him what deposition is about and what might be asked and what documents i should submit , my attorney replied that he absolutly had no idea on this information and asked me to meet him a day before deposition to discuss . He expected me to get documents and everything ready in 1 day for next days deposition?????? He charged 8300 doing nothing. He considered himself to be a super hero for getting me maintanace which my husband was willing to give.

Joe was my attorney over a 10 month period and provided exceptional representation the entire time. I was subject to a rather contentious child custody proceeding that had involved the Attorney Generals office coming after me for child support that had already been paid and an ex-spouse that was threatening to move my children away. Joe managed to help hold the AGs office at bay while this and other visitation issues where litigated. Unprofessional and incompetent and just a flat out liar. I fired joe newberry 5 days after hiring him. Upon meeting him, newberry told me that all family safety plans from cps have expiration dates on them. Total lie. After giving him the entire weekend to come up with a viable plan to reunite me with my daughter, newberry came up with a terrible plan. After explaining to this lawyer why his plan was terrible, his response to me was well whats your plan then. I fired him immediately. This man is a total fraud and a huge joke. He got where he is on his mommas coat tails and charged me 1000 for 4 phone calls and a strong arm letter to cps. Yuck. Newberry is such a coward that when I called his office for a return of my 9000 retainer, he suddenly cant come to the phone anymore and left his mess to his very incompetent secretary Ryan. Ryan informed me that newberry wanted a certified letter stating that he was fired and a return of funds. I informed Ryan that I would be down with the police to pick up my funds. Ryan explained to me that he had emailed newberry who then said that the check would be sent to me certified in the mail the following day. I called the Texas state bar association and asked for a complaint packet sent to me and that has already arrived and to no ones shock, my 9000 still hasnt turned up in the mail. This man is scum and hard up for money, no other explanation will due for not returning the money of a disabled American veteran who is terminal. This man would feel shame if he hadnt sold his soul for a nickel. I hope this review will save someone the time, and anger and complete mess that this man inflicts needlessly. I will be filing a police report as well as following up with the state bar. It is obvious that this man is not serious about the law because he doesnt know what he is talking about and misadvises, misleads and flat out lies. Good luck getting this coward on the phone after you pay him money.

The whole team at Leecraft & Newberry was wonderful and easy to work with during my whole case. After hiring a different attorney that was horrible and made an even bigger mess of the situation I had a hard time wanting to trust another attorney. I contacted Leecraft and Newberry to terminate the rights of my sons father. He had not seen him in over 6 years and owed close to 40,000 in child support. Joe and his team were amazing. I was always able to speak to someone when I had questions and the process was quite smooth. There was one unforseen bump in the road but Joe arranged everything and it was quickly resolved. The rights were terminated and my son was also able to change his last name. For many reasons that was very significant to my son. He now has my late husbands last name which is the only father he knew. Quickly after everything was finalized, his father somehow found us and got in contact with me. He in no way has shown any real understanding of how his actions have affected my son. He also begged for a chance to do better and has really shown no real effort. Knowing that he has no rights to my son or any real legal power, as sad as it is, is a huge relief. I can handle the situation without fear that he could come and just fight to take my son or out of the blue request his visitation rights. I am very greatful to Joe and his team. They were so professional and made me feel like I was the only case they were dealing with. I have had several experiences with lawyers and Joe is by far the most passionate I have had. Although I would never recommend my custody issues on anyone, I would most definitely recommend my attorneys. Judy, Joe and their entire team was sent from heaven. Their family-friendly office made it easy and gave me the necessary strength to fight the fight. My family and I could not have asked for a better team to represent my children and me. Their family is now part of my family.

Why I decided to go with Law Office of Judy Leecraft I picked you Joe and his team in trust to best represent my case for what is best for my kids after spending several hundred dollars to three other law offices for consultations. Some of which advertise that they stand up for fathers rights. I almost went with one of them until they did not return may call at a moment that all I needed to know was how do I get them a check and some questions on very important things that were taking place right then that I need advise on. Joe and Judy were highly recommended to me for a fighter. When I called the first time I was told that my case was most important due to the nature of kids being involved with very time sensitive steps that needed to be in place. I was missing what was most important from the other firms that I met with and it was real people to me up front in person and not at a table (business style). Joe and his team gave me the hope and drive that I needed to fight and I fault very confident that a Father stood a chance to be just as much of a part of his kids lives as the Mother. I know times have changed but I never would have imagined that it could happen until you meeting with them. I am very thankful for all of you and your staffs work. This has taken time but looking back now, like the saying goes; good things go to those who wait. You and your team made it all work out for the best for our kids.
