The menu prices caused me sticker shock! But if you can get past that, then I highly recommend the French Toast. Get it exactly the way the chef makes it! Its DELICIOUS Thanks to my server for encouraging me to let the chef have his way. Food : 5/5

CHICKEN AND WAFFLES! I dream about it, Especially now that we no longer live in Austin. But when we are there for a visit, its one of the first stops. Its where I took my wife on our first date, too. After all these 15+ years of experience enjoying their food, it has the same outstanding quality. Long live 24 Diner!

August 2024 We visited this restaurant after moving my son to UT. The vibrant atmosphere reflected Austin. The menu also reflected the creative and the a little expensive/exclusive vibes of the city. We ordered the daily branch with the side salad/soup or sandwich. The waygu sliders tasted flavorful. The cauliflower soup of the day was so so. My son enjoyed the sandwich and my sliders. My guests did enjoyed the avocado toasts and the creative twist of chicken and waffles. My rating 5 as very satisfied Taste 4/5 Temperature 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Courteous/ Attentiveness 5/5 Speed of service 5/5 Will I revisit? 3/5 (kind of pricey ) Will I recommend? 4/5 Parking: Free good parking spots and easy accessible.

This place has really tasty food and opens early! The coffee is flowing, the biscuit is buttery and airy, the potatoes are seasoned and textured well and they have some damn good bacon! I also love their fried chicken biscuit with hot honey, the chicken is godly. I do think their interior needs some updating (or deep cleaning), its a little dingy - but then again, the food is so damn good, its all fine by me.

I had the Wagyu Sliders with a Side Salad, and they were exquisite. My Wife had Chicken Fried Chicken and she was very satisfied. The parking is free just outside the restaurant. The time was around 7 p.m., and there was no wait time to be seated. The waiter was nice and professional. From ordering food to receiving was about 20 min. When the food came out, the presentation was very nice. Although they were out of most draft beer, what they had left was very good. We drove into Austin from San Antonio just for this, and for me, it was worth the drive. Great service and great tasting food. The Sliders were off the chain. Overall for two people we spent $68 including a $12 tip. Highly recommended.

I ordered 3 chicken & waffle entrees. The chicken was good, but the waffles had a sour, fermented taste, and the restaurant forgot to put cinnamon butter and syrup in the bag. We could not eat the waffles. EDIT: it was difficult to get a hold of them, but they did eventually refund me The online ordering website also listed the seasonal pie as apple (it came as blueberry) and the pork chop with pickled peaches plus green beans (instead collard greens and no peaches), but both were delicious so we re cool on that.

The pictures and reviews of 24 Diner were nothing like the actual food. As soon as our food arrived I noticed how off the waffle looked, like a fluffy waffle that had deflated and been sitting on the counter for a day or two. As soon as I tried it the waffle tasted rubbery and doughy like the mix was days old and they kept adding in mix to the same container producing a weird taste. When I asked the waitress if I could replace it, she said it was made from a sourdough base (not explained in the menu) while I could see a sourdough being sour , the waffle still tasted very bitter and old that I couldn t believe that sourdough base produced that flavor. I asked for a biscuit in place of the waffle and while the biscuit was nothing special, I don t have any complaints there besides the fact that she charged us for both, didn t come back to our table, only filled up our drink once which I finished before our meal even arrived and then a different waitress dropped off our check. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich and you could compare to any other sandwich you could pick up at a fast food joint. Overall, disappointing and wouldn t recommend 24 diner or come back. Maybe their dinner is much better. Parking: Parking is also very narrow, we had to move the car to be able to open the door halfway and not hit the trucks next to us. Once we left and were getting in the car the vehicle next to us apologized because we couldn t fully open our car door and complained that it was so narrow and we told him we said the same thing and that s why we moved to the spot at the very end of the parking lot although parking might not be the restaurants fault either, there is some parking lots nearby that we saw where customers might be able to park.

Walked in and was immediately sat on an early Saturday. It did kind of take a bit longer than anticipated to get our food, but it wasnt anything crazy. My friends ordered Biscuits and gravy as well as Veggie hash. They both truly enjoyed their meals. The mushrooms tasted like it was marinated. The cheese grits were extra cheesey as well. My wife just got sides of toast and a hard fried egg. I ordred the meat lover frittata. Its like an omelet but baked. It was super delicious. But the mvp of our meal was the homemade strawberry jam. Mannnn that thing tasted great on the sourdough toast and biscuit. Overall, we were all very pleased with the experience here..

So I ordered meatloaf. I noticed it tasted bad. Then after talking to the waitress she informed me it had cheese in it. Now, pausing for a moment, why does meatloaf have cheese in it? I have had probably 100 different meatloafs in my life. Never have they had cheese before and it was not listed in the description on the menu. She offered to get me something else. I asked for the chicken. Finally it comes out in a togo box. All good at this point -- the meatloaf was gross but at least they made it right with a different entree. Welp, nope, turns out they charged me for it?! Idk if they thought I ate too much of the meatloaf and therefore had to charge me for the chicken (probably 50% of the meatloaf because my girlfriend had like two bites and I kept eating it because I was confused about the taste and thought it was maybe all in my head). But anyway, not a great experience, theres too many other great restaurants downtown to justify returning.

And the Parmesan garlic fries that were my level of garlicky goodness . My friend had the meatloaf and it was i top of greens and mashed potatoes it was a large portion and flavorful . But the star of the show was our server Adrian , he was attentive and made great recommendations. As well as brought me a little coffee cake with a candle because it was my birthday. We stopped at this place while visiting Austin, and it was pretty good. Their service was good. We ordered Caesar salad, which had so much cheese and was the best Ive had in a while since other places are usually skimpy with the ingredients. Since it was happy hour, I tried their house wine, which was not bad. Definitely try their hummus, but maybe not at the regular price. Overall, their burger was very juicy and flavorful, and the Parmesan garlic fries were divine. Do note that the fries had a lot of garlic, which was great if you love garlic like we do. Unfortunately, I didnt take a many pictures, but this place is was worth trying. Its best to go during happy hour because its pretty pricey.

Crazy expensive for breakfast. Portions were small. 2 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, one slice of toast, home fries = $18 . Orange Juice = $4.50. I was the only one there at 7:30am, took 10 minutes for someone to ask what I wanted to drink. Waited for my bill another 10 minutes after done eating. This place is always packed on weekends, probably from tourists in Austin not knowing. Not impressed at all.

Came in for the Chicken & Waffles reviews. I ordered a plate for myself which I believed contained a mixture of dark & white chicken. However, I ordered white chicken. But what I m here to review is the plate of Chicken Tenders & Fries. This plate, I ordered for my toddler. I felt so bad because my girl had been waiting for chicken & fries for a while only to be served the darkest fries ever and I could barely cut the chicken tenders with my knife. Not only that but the chicken tasted sour and has if it had been sitting there for a while. We ended up paying $60 for 3 dishes. Absolutely, bad food quality and overpriced. Your kids deserve better food and take your money where the food tastes better.

There were reviews on Google Maps for vegan options here so we went for brunch. One of the reviews includes the following reply from the restaurant about their vegan menu- Were thrilled to hear that you could stop by and enjoy a vegan friendly meal with us! I asked about vegan options and was told there really weren t any and they don t know why people come in asking for vegan. The only exclusively vegan option is their veggie sausage which is beet based. I got the veggie hash without egg or cheese and added the veggie sausage and toast. It was delicious. Just wish there were more vegan options. Our server was very nice and double checked items for me. Service is 5 stars all the way. Also the bathroom was filthy. Just really dirty. That s why I knocked off stars for atmosphere.

Literally un-eatable. The waitress quickly took them away and brought me another portion that were perfect. The manager also came over to our table and offered to remove the price of the biscuits from my bill. So I m giving this restaurant 5 stars though I would suggest the manager/owner speak with their cook(s) about serving food they obviously know is not up to par. One lazy cook can really hurt an otherwise excellent restaurant s reputation.

Ok . lol .. my chicken and waffles was trash, the waffle was cold, the chicken was frozen I could tell because it had a pink tint to it. If you re going to serve me frozen chicken don t charge me $20 for the plate thank you. Our group was all out on one check without letting us know that they refuse to split checks for parties over 3. Like what? So a $250 bill got put on one person with everyone else scrambling to figure out how to pay that person. Just dumb. Oh and my milkshake was over $8 it was the highlight of my meal but not a $8 highlight.

The waffle wasnt a great texture since it was cool. The chicken was ok and at least that was hot, although pretty bready. My friend said her food was mid, but it was just a breakfast platter. There was also a dog yelping next to us, so that was...entertaining, I suppose. The mimosa I got tasted more like mineral water with the lightest hint of orange. Overall, for the recommendations that people gave me, it was the most lackluster birthday brunch Ive ever had. It wasnt even full for a Sunday morning. What gives?

This place was kind of mid. We went on a Sunday around 12:30 and the food was pretty cool to the touch when it got to us, and it wasn t busy (meaning that there were 3 or so booths free). We got the sweet potato hash- good flavor, not enough crispiness on the sweet potatoes, but portion size was good And we also got, fried chicken and waffles- undercooked waffles (think soft waffles) and the chicken had a heavy breading to chicken ratio. Finally, we got two milkshakes, those were pretty good. Mine was the strawberry milkshake and it was super tasty, with made in house strawberry cake bites in there with bits of strawberry preserves, the shake consistency was a little on the milkier side, but again, the flavor HIT THE SPOT. Def made the visit worth it.

Visiting from out of town and heard good things about Diner 24 from colleagues who went to college here in Austin. Could not have been more disappointed in the food. I ordered the waffle combo and my brother ordered the chicken and waffles and on both orders the waffles were putrid. Everyone at our table tried a bite and we re in agreement. Unsure if they were using out of date ingredients or unclean kitchen practices but the waffles were gross. We addressed our concerns with the waiter and was very disappointed to see our check. Basically paid 15.95 for 2 pieces of bacon and scrambled eggs as the waffles were uneatable.

I love this place! They use only real Maple Syrup! Every other breakfast place like Kerbey skips that these days. Extra points for having GF next to menu items for gluten free. I m obsessed with the Porch Chops & Peaches dish! Food

The server and hosts were very kind and attentive to what we had and if we wanted more water or drinks. Had a delicious breakfast for dinner the frittata was huge and more than able to serve for dinner and breakfast. So good. It paired very nicely with my extra spicy Bloody Mary. Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options could have more but what they did have looked delicious. Parking: Park and then move your car don t think that you can pay and leave your car there and explore the area. They will tow. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu looked alright

Great brunch place with so many options for every mood! I ve been going here for the past couple of years and love the hashes, patty melt, pastries, and iced coffee. A good chill brunch place for a typical downtown Austin price plus the wait times aren t too bad on the weekends.

Well the food was pretty tasty, but unfortunately, my burger and my friends sliders were overcooked (we asked for med rare) we were starving though so we just wanted to eat what was in front of us and not wait for them to make us new ones/fix it. Mashed sweet potatoes were good, as well as the veggie medley. But cmon, I thought this was Texas. Shouldnt they be the premiere place where they cook their high quality meat the right way?

Great place for late night comfort food. Ordered the meatloaf and it did not disappoint! Plate was loaded, had a huge slab of meatloaf on a bed of greens and nice portion of mashed potatoes with gravy. This was a serious amount of food. I did not know think I could finish but I did and found out I need help getting up from the table. Wonderful place with great service and super good food. Parking: Free shared parking lot with Waterloo.

Frankly, I was a little bit disappointed with the food. I wouldnt have thought that the sweet potatoes would be the most flavorful thing in a hash that also has sausage, poblano peppers, and jack cheese. The fried chicken was surprisingly bland too. It was easily overpowered by the brown sugar butter that comes on the chicken and waffles, and the waffle itself was a bit limp. I wouldnt recommend the espresso here. My cappuccino was served in a narrow, square mug so that I got several mouthfuls of pure foam before getting to a surprisingly tepid espresso underneath. Now, I like a good greasy-spoon diner with chipped plates as much as the next person, but I dont usually pay $15-$20 per plate for greasy-spoon-diner-quality food. I mean, $5 for 3/4 cup of grits with a bit of cheese on top is a little much.

This used to be one of our favorite local spots but after today I will never return. We arrived and there were multiple open tables but we were added to a wait list and told it would be about 15 minutes. No biggie. 20 minutes passed and no text so we headed back into the restaurant. Apparently they forgot to have the system notify us the table was ready a few minutes before. We were seated and ordered. The service was horrible and the food was cold and I m pretty sure burnt. I m certain that it had been sitting for awhile and had the busboy not brought it I don t think we d have ever gotten it. At one point my husband went to get me more water at the bar because our waiter passed by multiple times but never checked on us. The only people who seemed to be doing any work in the whole restaurant were the bus boy and girl. For over $70 the whole thing was ridiculous and is a perfect example of how Austin has been ruined. Multiple other diners waited forever to be serviced and even pay their tabs. Will not be returning ever and advise others to skip this place.

Since we went on a very busy day, we had to wait a bit to be seated. The food was good and there are plenty of healthy options. Everything was very nice, except for the annoying coffee that did not accompany a nice breakfast. A barista who knows the difference between Cappuccino and Latte is required.

Beloved 24, this is the place to be. We wish it was still open 24 but since its not, will frequent when it is open! I love the salads, burgers, and bartenders. There is normally a delicious special or new shake flavor to try. Food is worth to get to go, or ambience is worth experiencing in person. Staff is generally the real deal and not stuck up duds (this isnt a subtweet at better half unless you want it to be).

We had a total of four drinks including two cocktails. Eli was helping us today and they were amazing, very understanding and kind. There was never an instance where we felt as if we were not taken care of. Would definitely recommend for great food and service!

The waffles taste sickly sweet, almost sour. Very off putting and artificial. Waitress was making weird advances and touching. Very weird especially in front of my partner. The sausages taste gritty and had pieces of shredded bone with every bite. Overpriced for what its worth as the portions dont make up for the low quality. I cannot recommend avoiding it enough.

This place is going cheap on us. They got rid of their Frankly organic vodka. And the bartender then tells me I can t tell the difference in a Bloody Mary. I m a mixologist. I can tell. The bloody blend was super basic and just tasted like straight tomatoes. I also received attitude when I asked about the change in vodka. If you re gonna have a nice restaurant, have good liquor and bartenders who know what they re doing. I won t be back for awhile.

Super great service and lovely atmosphere! Also conveniently located. Last time I ate here I had a bad experience so I didnt eat this time, but all of my friends reported that the food was similarly not good to the last time I was here, so I believe its a pattern. The waffles tasted cardboard-y, and the menu prices were very high, which is expected for Austin but still a lot. We had a round of heartbreak getting the checks seeing the price vs. the quality and quantity of food we got. Despite all the positives in vibes, would definitely not recommend based on the food.

Upon being seated, the benched seat was laden with pet hair and had to be wiped off. It was from a service dog so not that big of a deal. A rat lives under the bench seat along the wall on the lefthand side of the restaurant. It scurried along past our feet under the table to a hole in the corner of the wall. My daughter jumped out of her seat and my wife was eye to eye with it while he peaked out from the hole. A first for us in all of our dinning experiences. Outside of that the waitress was amazing and the food was typical diner food. I hate to post this review but if no one says anything that there is a rat problem, it could go unnoticed. I feel like our meal should have been comped, but we still dropped $95 for three people with tip. The waitress admitted to seeing the rat before, so where there is one there is probably more. I hope they are doing what they can to wipe down surfaces and eradicate the problem. People have a natural aversion to rats due to their association with filth and disease.

Friendly service, uncomfortable seating in the booth (table is too tall for two-seater booth/chair arrangements if you re sitting in the booth) but this is a restaurant so let s talk about the food. Caesar salad is made with very delicious classic Caesar dressing and I was impressed. What was weird was the chicken I asked to be added was chopped up in small pieces and it was cold, added into the salad throughout. That s not BAD, but it certainly is the worst way to add chicken to a Caesar salad. The best (and only way that s not a waste of time and chicken) is to grill the chicken breast HOT, slice it julienne style, and lay it on top of the salad. If they had done that it would have been a perfect salad, because the dressing was excellent. But the texture of cold (almost mushy) tiny, flavorless chicken cubes hiding in the salad kind of ruined the salad. Who taught the chef this method? They should change and it will make a world of a difference. My friend says the burger and fries were good. That s all.

My wife and I were excited to try this place out. Kinda swanky..obvi with being on 6th St. Are waitress was super tired but nice, until she just up and left in the middle of our lunch and we had a replacement waiter. We had to send our hamburgers back to the kitchen because they were literally bleeding on our plate. Second round was only slightly more well done. Perhaps their cook is partial to raw meat and thinks others are as well. Maybe it was an off day. Their corn fritters were bomb tho ..very tasty.
