Cant say I would come back whatsoever. Food was not great. Over seasoned and over priced. Soup dumplings were pretty good . Drinks were awful. Tried everyones and we all thought the same. Service also seemed inconvenienced by us even ordering. If the food is amazing I can put up with bad service. But not both.

The food is really really mediocre. Nothing was impressive or something I would order again. Additionally the service was so rude. We were a party of 10 and they just seemed so annoyed and huffed and puffed if we asked for anything. Kept interrupting us just overall so rude in comparison. Overall I don t recommend this place.

Pretty good flavors overall, especially the steak. Was really disappointed in the Sichuan Spicy Wontons. They were stuck together and were inedible. For the prices we were happy the flavors were good (better than most takeout in the city) but not justified for what we received. Used to really love this place years ago but Im not sure we will go back.

Had a great first experience here with my wife last week. We were taken care of by several people, and it made it feel very team oriented. Alex did a great job. He kept me from ordering the same dish twice, and we were able to try more things. Claire was also helpful in seeing to the end of our experience. I wanted to mention that it was a slow night, early Monday evening, but the team made it feel the same as a normal dining room. We didnt have to wait around for service. The experience went as if the restaurant was busier. This is a good sign. The Dofu tofu is amazing. The green beans are as good as advertised.

We went to Wu Chow Downtown for a client dinner, and I was blown away by this restaurant. The dining scenery is clean, modern, and colorful, creating an upscale vibrant ambience throughout. Our server was very kind and funny. He even had a drink named after him because he had returned from heart surgery recently. It is really lovely to see that a restaurant like this cares so much about their staff that they d extend a gesture like this. The food was unbelievable. We ordered the soup dumplings, green beans, honey pecan prawns, Peking duck, gong bao chicken, beef dish, fried rice, and more - every single item on the menu was to die for. I could have eaten any item we ordered as my meal every day for the rest of my life and been happy, it was that good. 10/10 highly recommend this restaurant.

Not what Id call dim sum I am leaving Wu Chow with a heavy heart, Im almost at a loss for words, but I feel the need to write this review as a warning for fellow dim sum fans in Austin. The service was good, the interior was lovely, food was presented nicely, but what I was served I can not in good conscience label as dim sum with few exceptions. The soup dumplings and custard tarts were pretty baseline - good but nothing noteworthy - the crispy reinterpretation of turnip cake was fun and reminiscent of fried taro dishes found elsewhere, but everything went downhill from here. When the dan dan noodles came to the table, I was shocked - the noodles had a pasta-like consistency and flavor while the sauce evoked a spaghetti bolognese (I wish I was exaggerating), but the true atrocity was the sticky rice. This deserves its own paragraph. Look how they massacred my boy... Sticky rice or Lo Mai Gai is a hallowed cornerstone of Dim Sum served wrapped in a lotus leaf. When I saw sticky rice on the menu I ordered it without hesitation, assuming the name to be merely anglicized. When a geometric pyramid of rice arrived at the table one of my fellow diners exclaimed they must have added the lotus flavor somehow! Alas. The dish can only be described as fried rice-inspired sticky rice. Though dry and blandly seasoned, it wasnt unpleasant; but diners expecting some form of Lo Mai Gai will be severely disappointed. If you are looking for traditional dim sum, look elsewhere. If youre looking for contemporary dim sum, you may be disappointed. If you think dim sum is like Chinese tapas for breakfast, right? and are looking for brunch with drinks, you wont be disappointed. As one diner a table away wisely observed: I dont really like Japanese food, take from that what you may.

I am so disappointed. I ve been here dozens of times over the years - this was by far my worst experience - from food to service and everything in between. The chicken dishes was tasteless. They forgot to put my one and only thing I wanted - the pork soup dumplings - out to thaw - and never told me. I had to ask where they were as he d forgotten about them. Was told it would be another 20 min - on my lunch break. Nope. The tables were filthy - and we were one of 2 tables in the entire restaurant the entire time. They are not the same as they once were. Too bad. Used to be my favorite restaurant. Happy Birthday to me.

We drove to downtown Austin to try this restaurant. We entered the restaurant, and we were told that they were closed until 5 pm. We were confused because the times clearly showed that they are open from 11 am. until nighttime on a Wednesday. The person we talked to said that it can be confusing, but they are closed around 3 pm. We are from out of town, so we are not used to so many restaurants having siesta hours. We ended up driving to Cedar Park to eat Japanese food.

My friend and I loved the mapo tofu, had a soft feeling and the sauce was to die for. The portion sizes were good. Mapo tofu: 10/10, soft and yummy Beef noodles: 6/10, very flavorful but was lacking Pork soup dumplings: 5/10, wasn t as flavorful as it s supposed to be made

I love wu chows food. Most days I m going right when they open and the hosts always makes it seem like it s a hassle. But I love how fresh the food tastes especially the mapo tofu and hot and sour soup. However, I also like to order delivery and it s frustrating the menus vary and I can t find the silken mapo tofu with pork on favor only the strictly vegetarian version. Please make both available - it s tasty. Dietary restrictions: They have good gluten free options available which makes it convenient for family members with celiac who can t often find accommodating Chinese restaurants.

It pains me to write this because Wu Chow has always been a staple for my husband and I. Soup dumplings used to be our favorite but this time they needed salt and overall they were underwhelming. Beef chow fun is usually my favorite but it was lacking in flavor, sort of chalky, and all the noodles were stuck together. Honey pecan prawns were still delicious, they had an overwhelming amount of pecans but not really something to complain about, also had the egg rolls and those were good, the sauce they get served with is my favorite. Will probably try one more time but was very disappointed with this last trip. Server was incredible, she was kind and attentive. We would ask for her again! Come on Wu Chow I know you can be great! :)

I cannot say enough amazing things about this location. First and for most it is a restaurant for the people and when I say that I mean you can bring every person with every type of diet or allergy and they can not only eat, but eat WELL. The food is amazing, the spices and seasoning will have you coming back. And please, do not sleep on their cocktails! They do special drinks for the holidays and events, like pride or the Chinese New Year, that will rock your world! As far as services goes, I can only speak for myself but man the soul of this place! I feel heard, listened to, and cared about. It doesn t get much better than that when it comes to service! Last but not least, their music is EVERYTHING!!! Hands down the best music played at a restaurant that I have ever been to! Shout out to every worker at the downtown location! You guys are seriously the best! I wished that they had more dessert options, but we were so full after dinner that we didn t even miss dessert. So, heres the scoop on Woo Child the dim sum and Sichuan wizardry down in downtown Austin. Now, I held off on this review because, lets face it, Austin can sometimes prioritize looking cool over serving up killer food. But hold onto your chopsticks, because Woo Child is about to flip that script. This place doesnt just serve dim sum; it throws a dim sum party in your mouth, and Sichuan cuisine here is like a flavor rollercoaster you never want to end. In a town where aesthetics often steal the show, Woo Child goes, Hold my hot sauce, and cranks up the taste to 11. After several trips, I can confidently say Woo Child isnt just a restaurant; its a pleasure cruise for your taste buds. Its like they took the food game, did a little dance, and set a whole new standard. So, if youre tired of the same old foodie song and dance, Woo Child is the downtown maestro conducting a symphony of flavors thatll make your taste buds sing.

I visited the restaurant after reading positive reviews during my out-of-town trip. Arriving a few minutes before closing, I observed two customers still dining. When I inquired about dining in, the unfriendly bartender declined. Opting for takeout, he had to check with the kitchen. While waiting for my takeout, I sat at the bar and ordered a cocktail. Despite mediocre food and unwelcoming service, the restaurant automatically added a 10% service charge to my takeout, which was disappointing given the nearly non-existent service.

Wu chow is our favorite place for dinner in Austin. We first tried 4 years ago, and totally fall in love with it. I like their atmosphere as well. Such a nice romance place that with delicious food. Some dishes that highly recommended. - Beef chow fun, everyone loves it, right?! It is the best main dish we ever tried in different Chinese Cuisine. The favor is just right, not too much or too light. - Chengdu Chili Chicken, spicy warning, but its so good! Tender chicken breast with some spicy carrots, cabbages and beans. We were glad that this chili chicken dish has some veggies in it, so we are able to order one more meat dish! - Honey Pecan Gulf Prawn, huge prawn! Love this dish at the first try! Love this place. BUT too hard to order, because we would like to try all dishes! 100% recommended.

This place is absolutely outstanding! It offers exceptional value for your money. On my second visit to Wu Chow, I was once again impressed by the consistently high food quality. We indulged in the chicken dumplings, which were impeccably fresh and incredibly delicious. The crispy chicken with Szechuan pepper provided the perfect balance of zing without being overly spicy. However, the real stars of the meal were the cumin lamb and the chili chicken simply the best! I highly recommend these two dishes, especially when paired with their fragrant fried rice. The portions are generously sized and easily satisfy two hungry diners. Overall, this establishment is a gem. They also have a wide variety of cocktails and beer/wines! The ambiance is delightful, and their prices are very reasonable. If youre visiting Austin, I wholeheartedly endorse this place. Its a culinary delight!

Nice place to hangout on a friday night for some fun and delicious food.

i had a great time at Wu Chow. I would absolutely recommend Wu Chow to any vegans or vegetarians. The server was able to ensure everything was vegan before it came out and there were a number of options. The service was great, the happy hour wine was good, and the food was delicious. The Sichuan Braised Eggplant was amazing. Our server was attentive and the food came out quick. The server was able to make great recommendations for vegan options. If you re a vegan i would 1000% recommend and just ask your server which meat options can be replaced with tofu.

Had a great dinner. Arrived at 9 and left at 9:40. Great food and personable and prompt service. Cheerful staff and a lovely ambience. My wife forgot her hat but we called the next morning and a very calm and pleasant person retuned our call and informed that they found it and kept it for us to pick up. I went back and the hostess immediately had it ready for us. They will always be remembered for great food and service, have earned our business and we will return for sure.

The food is ok. It is oily, but tasty. The second biggest problem is the fact that they charge a 5% takeout fee and another 10% service fee on top of your bill when you walk into the restaurant to pick your food up. The biggest problem is that if the food is not ready, the hostess will seat you at the bar. There are 2 middle aged gentlemen who work the bar with horrible attitudes. I was not greeted, offered water, or asked if I wanted anything. When the food was done, one of the two middle aged gentlemen simply handed the food over to me without saying a single word. Not a hi, bye, thank you, or any sense of courtesy.

My only complaint would be that the chairs outside are not at all comfortable and the fans they have don t help at all with the heat. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options denoted by a special symbol on the menu Dietary restrictions: Staff is highly knowledgeable about the ingredients of dishes and their ability to be made gluten free. Parking: No Spaces directly reserved for the restaurant Kid-friendliness: This restaurant is not particularly child friendly. Possibly for older children.

The food was ok, but they forgot items and charged us for them. They brought the wrong drinks, and that was after I asked for a refill on a basic soda three times. Their website says the parking garage parking is free but they dont actually validate parking. And thats the only place to park, because parking is a nightmare around the joint despite being a very unwalkable part of downtown Austin. Criminally overpriced, bad service, and a deceptive website. Do yourself a favor and go get better food in North Austin.

Food was way too salty.. everything was high on sodium and lethargic environment added in disappointment. We went after 3 year, after halfway meal we realize that why don t we come here and again. AC system is not compatible for Texas heat .. so it was HOT even at 10 am in the night. They have portable ac unit near bar so we can imagine AC doesn t work properly. Thankfully server gave us handfan as we were using menu cards :D. We ordered 5 dishes. 3 dishes sply deep fried Sichuan chicken , chengdu chili chicken and lamb was way too spicy, Sichuan tofu was dry & crispy veg noodle were some was salty but no spice. I would not recommend this place for heart or blood pressure person . In the night light were too dim to make it luxurious but it was not fun. We love Asian food love Sichuan style also but we had better Sichuan & Asian food around Austin area. We go to Lin & qi so many times but I would not go back here again . Dietary restrictions: Not heart , BP, health friendly. No healthy options or menu

The restaurant was truly bizarre! I ordered the spicy dumplings and Shanghai soup dumplings. The dumpling skin was undercooked and chewy, making it difficult to eat. After just one bite, I had to set it aside. Despite seeing many positive reviews, I thought maybe it was just one dish that didnt turn out well. But to my surprise, the skin of the soup dumplings was just as bad! Its unbelievable that they could mess up such a basic thing like the dumpling wrapper. I really dont understand where those positive reviews came from

They did not even give a small bowl for the soup dumpling like they do in most places

I stumbled on this WU Chow while looking for a gluten-free Chinese food options. The menu online had a nice variety so I decided to go for it. Something to note when driving, there are several trees making it difficult to see the small red sign so be aware while navigating. If youre on the sidewalk, you cant miss it. There is valet but its not close to the entrance; youre better off going to the small lot at San Antonio St. and 5th. Its well lit and had plenty of spaces on a Thursday evening around 7 pm. The ambiance was really nice! Theres basically a wall of windows letting so much natural light in and overlooking the outdoor dining area. However, its not too bright inside and still has a low-light feel. Staff was really friendly and we were seated quickly. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations. She was attentive, asked about allergies beforehand, and answered my questions. My water glass was never empty and cocktails were refreshing. I love that everything comes out on share plates. This is great for those dining with a group of people and want to try various items... especially if you cant decide what you want. All of the share dishes come out with serving utensils so that no one is using their personal items. That being said, the food was phenomenal. I had been craving good Chinese food because its a rare find when you cant have gluten. This place really hit the spot and I will definitely be returning. Dietary restrictions: Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and based on my gluten-free restrictions. She made some great recommendations and was attentive, asked about allergies beforehand, and answered my questions. Dishes were plated nicely. Hoisin sauce that came with the duck had some kind of kick to it (paprika?), which I thought was strange. Two-faced noodles were nicely crispy. However, all the dishes were incredibly salty, and I had a hard time finishing them without drinking a ton of water.
