Foxys was the perfect location for our happy hour / after party during a conference at the convention center. From the planning to the execution everything was professionally handled by the amazing staff. The food, the custom drinks, and the ability to bring in outside entertainment left nothing but happy faces around the bar that evening. Thank you to the staff, we will see you again next year!

After waiting a couple hours for the bats, which were a no-show, we walked to Foxy s Proper Pub, where we were greeted immediately upon arrival by Brett, the bartender. We ordered drinks and then our food a few minutes later. Brett was very helpful in helping us make a couple choices. The food arrived promptly, and everything was hot, tasty, and as described on the menu. Even the fries were perfectly cooked. The menu offers some standard choices but also some nice surprises like the beet salad, which was delicious. Definitely worth stopping by this jewel. We will return. Thank you to Brett for the wonderful service!

Great place to host an event! We worked with Sthella to set up a company event where we invited clients and it couldnt have gone better! We ended up with around 25-35 people and rented the downstairs patio and it was plenty of space for everyone. The staff was very pleasant and professional, and even added to the enjoyment of the event. Sthella helped us choose the menu and she was a huge help. We were happy with everything including the cost. Even came in a little under what we thought it might be with food and open bar. And again, the entire staff was friendly and fun, we cant thank them enough. The next time we are hosting in Austin, Foxys will be our place!

I went there this past Friday to get a drink and bite, unfortunately I was informed that the fire alarm had shut down the kitchen for the evening leaving me with an empty stomach. Luckily the bartender Sarah asked if I would like some queso and chips since they could at least prep that much. I happily munched on my appetizer and was glad to have something to eat. Worst experience of my life. The red head bartender is the worst I ve ever seen and she got personally agressive when she wouldn t take responsibility for getting our drinks wrong. Even when the owner tried them and clearly noticed it was tequila and not vodka, and make us new drinks, she never came over to apologize. Never again. Politely eff off.

My sister in law and I were in town for one night to visit a friend and decided to stop here for dinner and drinks before the show. Atmosphere was good. Service was painfully slow. If I could give zero stars for service I would. More than once I had to give up on our, very unpersonable, server and get my own beer from the bar. It would be difficult for our server to be less interested in us. Our appetizer came out at the same time as our entree which was disappointing since it was good. But once the entree is served, Im done with the apps. Bangers and mash was very average. Wife had the fish and chips which were fine, but served with a strange, sweet tartar with pecan. When I come back to Austin this place wont be on the agenda. Oh, and how strange that when we sit for dinner first thing they wanted to do was get my card to start a tab at the bar? Cant you just put it on my bill? This place is a mess.

You are supposed to already know to seat yourself and to order at the bar apparently. Even if you do go to the bar youll wait until the bartender is done chatting like hes in no hurry. I can t understand how rude the brunette bartender can be. I came in with my gf and group of coworkers for happy hour about a month ago. Not bad prices and a decent vibe inside but the brunette bartender was just on another one, straight up ignores us. I literally raise my voice for her look at us. So I said to myself I will never give them another dollar. Fast forward to this past Friday. Me and my gf are out close by and she says let s give it another shot. We go, there is the brunette. But we get the blonde bartender, she was cool. Get our drinks and open a tab. Finish a drink and walk back to the bar and ask for another drink and want to order some wings. The brunette bartender say that she can t do that and we need to wait for the waitress I have a tab open like what.. there was not a waitress anywhere. So weird, I tell her then I will close my tab and she gives me this weird look like how could I have tab open. I will make sure to tell my coworkers and friends to never check this place out. High rent, not many patrons. Good luck staying in business with that staff. What weird times we live in.

Visited on my first night in town just as the kitchen was closing. They were kind enough to keep the kitchen open and served us a great fish and chips as well as an incredible hot pretzel with mind blowing mustard. Visited again on my last night in town when my partner wanted a Coke in the hotel. Every convenience store was closed, but Sophia behind the bar made me the hero. I love this place! I come here a few times a month, definitely one of my favorite bars downtown. Quality food/drinks, not too loud and beautifully decorated. Excellent ambiance and cocktails. This is the type of bar you go to that is off the beaten path. The staff is friendly and even though the menu is limited it is well prepared. It has a very Cheers vibe, for those that remember that sitcom. Those that complain about the slow service even when there are few patrons should be ignored. They are the type of clientele that require immediate attention in order to be satisfied, so please do not let that deter you from visiting this bar. If you really want a reason to complain just walk a few blocks to dirty 6th street and really try to get attention there.

I wanted to start by saying I was in the service industry for 7 years so I get it when someone has a bad day but this girl completely ruined our experience and we will not be going back. However, we would go back if she wasn t there. The brunette bartender working last night was bubbly and sweet and has nothing to do with this review. We came in last night for the first time with a group and it was pretty empty. Right off the bat we get bad vibes from the blonde bartender as we shuffle around looking for a cocktail list. First off, she makes great drinks I ll give her that. Other than the drinks, she was probably the worst service industry worker I ve ever seen. Not attentive at all, and when she finally saw us after waiting patiently while she stood around for like 10 minutes, I asked her *smiling* if I could order some drinks from her. Remember it s extremely slow, there were probably 4 other people at the bar besides our group. She turns around not smiling, not welcoming, and just says what s up. In the middle of me ordering she literally turns and walks away. I was annoyed, everyone was annoyed. Save yourself the time and go next door to cedar door. We ll try you again sometime in the future, Foxys, so disappointed.

Went in on a slow Friday night around 11pm. 4 people total at the bar. We got drinks pretty quickly and then it downhill. A bunch of friends, maybe 10, of the waitress came in and we had to wait 20 mins to even get her attention while she chatted and joked, but didnt serve them. The staff at Foxys are great, theyre polite, humorous, and quick. I was in there earlier today, to watch the jets game, and these guys opened early for us, full kitchen and everything. Now, you may be thinking Its a pub, I will order food if I have to, but preferably not, I havent had Fish n Chips this good since I visited England, partly because fish n chips are usually disgusting in Texas, no matter where you go. The pub burger they serve is a mix of brisket and chuck meat, its delicious, the tomatoes are cold, which a lot of restaurants mess up, and the meat is juicy. Onto the Curry chips, now for a lot of people these might have too much flavor, but they were genuinely a great take on the theory of loaded fries. Its a great pub, which is in fact Proper, a bit pricey, with delicious food, great beer, and an excellent whiskey selection. 100% recommend.

Luck of the Irish It was St. Patrick s Day and search all over downtown Austin for green beer until a bouncer said come on in we have it. I never been inside Foxy s Proper Pub where from outside looked small but it rather big inside. One problem before entering was it looked packed but decided to venture inside like an explorer. I was navigating shoulder to shoulder through people mostly 25 years younger than me where most were holding cups of shiny green beer. I ended up at a long bar under a chandelier made of green Jameson bottles. This room resembled a two story library out of Harry Potter. Lots of of iron, wood, and character, but no wands. As I finally got the attention of one of the many bartenders serving thirsty folks I got my green beer and those behind me were marveling at it. It tasted like a golden ale beer and enjoyed it. Besides green beer looks like on a normal day Foxy s serves a very wide range of authentic Irish mixed drinks, beer and food. It s really a cool place to checkout where I was impressed by what I could see in the massive crowd. There was patio, bar and indoor balcony seating. There was also what looked like a private area seeing a few going through a curtain unless it was the green beer talking. In hindsight the green beer made my day in celebrating St. Patrick s in style.

What a beautiful space and I was very happy to get a Smithwicks on tap. :) My husband and I were there on a very slow weekend night, first time visitors to Austin, and sat at the bar. It wasnt busy. Maybe we were too excited to talk whisky/beer/Irish stuff, but I would given Foxys 5 stars if the bartender would have (at least) pretended to engage with us. Her attitude and silence was almost intimidating - not at all what we were expecting from an Irish pub. Disappointing.

For relatively expensive food, the portions are small and the drinks were not made very well. The old fashions were not made well and had a ton of cherry juice or something thrown into the drink. The bartender also didnt know what Hendricks was and had to ask how to make drinks. The fish and chips with curry ketchup was pretty decent. The lamb burger was dry and bland. The vibe was cool, but overall wasnt impressed with the food/drinks and service.

Edit: 03/25/22 Unfortunately, I have to remove a star. The kitchen was closed and the Guiness wasnt poured right. I know that sounds ridiculous but Guinness needs to poured a certain way for the right flavor. Without food its not a pub just a bar. The people were nice though the familiar faces are gone. Its sad the place went downhill so quickly. Im hoping they can return to a properly Irish inspired menu and train their bar tenders on how to poor a proper pint of Guinness. Prior to shutting down their kitchen they were straying further and further from Irish food. Though they did get rid of corned beef which is not Irish! To improve the menu you need creamy rich soups, wheaten bread, boxys, and lamb. Soften the music, pubs are places where conversation is encouraged. Finally get some Irish musicians, there are plenty in this city! (They even have a Facebook group!) Edit: 12/19/21 From my previous reviews you might assume we are regulars, youd be right. Why do we keep coming back to the same pub? Because this place cares. 2 weeks ago we got married and had our after party at Foxys! It was fantastic. We felt attended to and everyone had a great time. The beer was cold the cocktails fantastic!! We had such a great time that I forgot my bouquet there. I thought all was lost certainly they wouldnt keep it. 2 weeks later we showed up for some pints and they gave me my bouquet which they kept alive in a fridge for me! I was able to take it home and preserve it. This place is top notch. Edit: 10/24/21 This place gets better and better. They updated the menu to include disco fries. The most Irish bar food you can get, french fries covered in gravy and meat! Its also a breakfast food. The biscuits and gravy some how got better. Idk all I can say is, if you arent eating and drinking here you are making poor life choices. Original post: sometime in July 2021 The food here is absolutely the best in Austin! The Irish Toast should be experienced by everyone before they die. The biscuits and gravy are the best in the world. The fries with curry ketchup are a delightfully unique taste sensation you can only experience here. The fish and chips are the best in Austin for sure. Finally, the party melt will melt your hangover away. Its all good. We havent had one thing we didnt love here. As for the bar all the cocktails are delicious. Try the velvet vixen!!! Also the mimosas are top notch and they have Guinness and Harp on tap. If you are Irish this is your spot!! My husband is from Ireland and gives this place his stamp of approval.

Was a really well decorated place, done up classy and still very comfortable. The only downside tonight was either the kitchen was closed or they have no kitchen I never figured that one out. The pitied furniture was very comfortable and it wasnt packed so that was pleasant also. Great place, would certainly go again.

Came in today around 7:50pm - more than 3 bar tenders working with the place pretty empty We sat at the bar for 15 minutes - 3 of us sat front row and center, looking to grab a few drinks. Instead, we were not acknowledged/asked if we wanted a drink the whole time. Rude. If you don t enjoy your job, and refuse to do it, how about you just get a new job instead of standing around just chitchatting with each other?

Excellent fish and chips. Frothy Guinness. Good Whiskey. *Cool upstairs with a few indoor table games (we played some chess), lounge and outdoor patios (upstairs/downstairs). Although-Customer service for the drinks was VERY slow and not thorough at all considering the simple orders on this laid back Sunday after holiday night (seemed inexperienced? and served a subpar >Irish< Coffee COLD and without cream.) Luckily, we were a patient few with some time to catch up.... Overall good place with a casually/nice but relaxed vibe that we would visit again, despite. Maybe, it was just an off night..BUT we would have ordered more rounds, if there was another server! We were just tired going downstairs to always keep ordering. I noticed another guy (bartender) came onto the scene he seemed faster, confident, and experienced. +dog-friendly+ #dogfriendly

Classy decor / chill staff / solid pub feel This renovated venue is Gorgeous with an almost high end lounge feel to it. However, it still maintains some of the English pub feel that so many new places shoot for, and often miss. opens early, I come here to watch premier league soccer, usually there aren t many other people since it s early in the morning/afternoon. Regardless of the staff I have met, they re all really cool and laid-back and easy to chat with. Prices are standard for downtown, food looked good but I didn t try so Idk. If you re looking to watch a game, especially a soccer game this is a solid bet. If you re looking for an attractive place to take a date, this place will also work for that. Also has a large outdoor area organized well if the weather is nice.

We went on a Sunday evening, so pretty low key vibe. The old fashioned was pretty good (but they forgot to put a cherry in it). Enjoyed the vibe, but got the feeling the staff was not happy for us to be there. Would absolutely go again, but would be hesitant to recommend to others without another experience myself.

Great pub! The staff is friendly and authentic. The pub food is delicious. And when youre looking for places to see while hanging out in Austin, Foxys is probably a short walk and definitely a solid first stop. If you know what Craic is... Foxy has it in spades!

God forbid you need service when all the bartenders are taking shots with the 6 customers who were there. Didnt acknowledge the 2 of us where there for 15 minutes without so much as a glance. Terrible service, if I was the owner and saw my bartenders taking shots instead of helping people they would be fired immediately. Youre there to do a job and make the business money.

Loved this place! The layout of the building is awesome with all the different seating areas. The potato skins were delicious and the bartenders were super kind. The upstairs feels like something out of the movie The Gentleman. Like I could plan a heist up there

Foxys staff were the most fabulous new friends! Halloween at this lounge was an exact example of what fun should be~in costume. The girls and the other guests were having so much fun,vwould highly recommend this place to anyone passing through and definitely make yourself a regular if youre a local!

Stopped here for lunch while in Austin. Place was just a little off the beaten path, of course Im not from there so what do I know about beaten paths, but was nice and quiet and we got to eat outside in the beautiful weather up on the deck facing the street. The food was outstanding, service impeccable, and the bartender did a superb job and was great company too. Definitely would recommend and definitely would go back here next time in Austin.

Great people and great food, although $10 for one scotch egg with barely any meat was absolutely ridiculous. Ive had much better at a Renaissance fair. Overall, it was a nice place to hangout. The bartenders are awesome

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon and there was a nice crowd with good vibes! Irish music, soccer on the TVs, friendly crowd. Bartender Sophia was great and even talked to the cook a little. Foxy s Coffee was delicious!
