I cant say enough about Moonshine Grill. The atmosphere was very relax, the service was amazing, and the food was outstanding. Our server, Ashley, killed it. She was able to take a table of 8s drinks and food, commit it to memory, and got everything correct. Overly kind, and such a joy to have as our server. Then came the food. The Chicken Fries Steak was amazing with the hit of spicy in the gravy. And the brussel sprouts were so good, my wife ate some and loved them, and she tends to have a strong hate for brussel sprouts. Top it off, I got a glass of General Taylor Bourbon, which went well with the meal. DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE!!! It is a great place to take family.

The restaurant was cozy with a great atmosphere. Bartenders were helpful and I loved the Bourbon slush! Devoured the garlic bulb appetizer and tried the cathead buttermilk biscuits. They were huge! Horseradish crusted salmon (could have been cooked a tad longer, imo) had great flavor, and I would come back just for the brussels sprouts alone. Peanut butter pie is in the fridge waiting until I digest, lol... but looks and smells fantastic. Will definitely be back when I return to Austin.

My family and I came to Austin to get out of town from Canada for the weekend. Having two little ones with us we struggled to find many places close by that had a family atmosphere. We tried this place out and it was hands down our favourite meal from our entire stay! Drinks were delish, service was 10/10 and our main courses were to die for! Hubby had the hanger steak and I had the horseradish salmon possibly one of the best meals ive ever had! We cant wait to recommend it to our family coming in November!

They keep the food coming and the drinks flowing. We all left with very happy bellies! I will definitely return, and order the pork chop again. Oh, and the biscuits (the biscuits!!!!).

This place was the highlight restaurant of our visit to Austin. We had some great food but Moonshine Grill had the hattrick. The atmosphere here is awesome. The bar is beautiful, the architectural details of this old renovation are beautiful. The wallpapers are all different, but in the same tones, so it flows beautifully. The patio looked really awesome. It was 105° when we were there, so we ate indoors. But the photos here dont exaggerate how cool this place is. The food was really delicious. The Hot chicken sandwich was a generous size, and had a smoky paprika flavor, really tasty. The deviled eggs were good. My favorite was the fried green tomatoes!!! Holy heck...these may be the best ones Ive ever had in my life (Ive had a fair bit, if theyre on a menu..I try them). These are special. They were crisp and crunchy start.to finish. The chopped shrimp and pimento on top, with the zesty remoulade was the perfect pairing with these crunchy gems. Really excellent. The frozen lemonade cocktail and the whiskey cocktail were so refreshing on such a hot day. Oh..I cant forget to mention the popcorn...its a salty one... So be prepared. But a nice warm up to the meal! I normally take note of our servers name, but I was not paying attention (my bad) I was taking in the vibe... but she was great! She was also the bartender. She was attentive, friendly, made great recommendations. Next trip to Austin, we will return here ..which says a lot, because I like to try different spots ..but I am coming back for those FGTs!!

I was visiting Austin with my friend and we went here 3 times during our 4 day stay so it is safe to say that we thoroughly loved it here! The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. I loved the unique touch of having complimentary popcorn. During our visits we tried the hangar steak, rainbow trout, blackened catfish, pork ribs, and chicken almondine. Every dish was a hit! All of the staff were amazing, but especially Cassie who had excellent recommendations to really sell the menu. It was great to see the staff helping each other out and making the service so seamless. They also offered a complimentary dessert to celebrate my friends birthday.

I came earlier in the week and had stellar service at the bar while munching on the cream corn queso & chips and drinking a beer; I then transitioned to a table for one (I hate eating my meals at a bar) and the service at the table that day left a bit to be desired. Allison and the team today more than exceeded my expectations as I returned for a solo brunch. Great attention to details coupled with inviting personalities as today s team provided great service. Their grits are amazing and pack an incomparable flavor while the chicken and waffles truly hit the spot. Moonshine will be a regular destination during my 2-3 annual trips to Austin.

Oh man. We came to celebrate a birthday based on a recommendation we got over a year ago, and Im so glad we finally stopped in. Were garlic fans, so the garlic bulb appetizer was a big draw in, and it did not disappoint. (There were a few of the toasted crustinis that were a little too dark/burnt, but thats my one and only critique for the food) The garlic bulbs came roasted with balsamic glaze, an herbed cream cheese, and roasted red bell peppers. The combination was great. I ordered the horseradish crusted salmon and my husband got the New York strip. We both loved the brussel sprouts (sweet heat and cheese with the perfect roast) and the proteins were well cooked and very satisfying. I was a happy girl. The service was a little lackluster, but nothing egregious.

Moonshine Grill in Austin was a fantastic dining experience for us. My husband got the hangar steak, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The dish came with sides that complemented the steak wonderfully, making for a satisfying and hearty meal. I opted for the chicken and waffles, and it was everything I hoped for crispy, tender chicken paired with fluffy waffles and just the right amount of maple syrup. The combination was heavenly, and the portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming. The drink menu also deserves a shoutout. I tried the slush with peach moonshine, and it was incredible. Refreshing, not too sweet, and with just the right amount of kick. The ambiance at Moonshine Grill is charming and cozy, with a rustic feel that makes you feel right at home. The service was friendly and attentive, and our server made EXCELLENT suggestions.

We came here because it s supposed to be haunted! We didn t see any ghosts, but as their name would suggest, this is where you should go if you like moonshine.

Great service and atmosphere! The food presentation looked good, but the taste was too salty. The complimentary popcorn was very salty. We ordered three appetizers, and two of them the fried green tomatoes and panko fried pickles were also heavy on salt. Unfortunately, we couldn t enjoy our entrees because the appetizers were overpoweringly salty. It s disappointing because Moonshine is an Austin favorite. I visited many years ago and remembered it tasting better than this latest experience.

Complementary popcorn provided at the table #win We then ordered pickle spears for an appetizer. It was a panko breading on the pickles that came with a ranch dipping sauce. They were nicely breaded and the ranch had a kick to it. It was like a Parmesan buttermilk ranch with some cayenne. Quite good. I had St Louis style ribs that came with a Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce and tobacco onions and Yukon potatoes. The ribs were ridiculously good. The meat literally fell off the bones and was so flavorful and seriously didn t even need the sauce. The onions weren t anything great, just your average onion straws. The potatoes were so smooth and delicious. My wife had the horseradish crusted salmon which came with brussel sprouts. It did not taste like horseradish, however it was cooked to perfection. The lemon dill butter sauce that came with the entree helped pull it all together. The brussel sprouts were tender and crispy with parmesan on it. Our kiddo got the chicken and waffles. The waffles were fluffy, buttery and sweet. The chicken was juicy but the breading was thick and bland. The chicken needed a lot more seasoning to cut the sweetness of the waffles and syrup. A basket of jalapeño cheddar cornbread was provided with dinner which wasn t anything super spectacular and was what you expected. Give us a follow on Instagram @gbdiningdykes

Had the Rainbow trout and it was delicious. The corn bread stuffing on top is so good. The green beans were fresh with alot of bacon. We got the biscuits, calamari and deviled eggs for appetizers. Never had a honey butter so perfect before. The Calamari does have a spicy kick, but I liked it. The deviled eggs came with 5 so it was perfect for our group. If you like sweet desserts then the banana pudding is for you. If you want something less sweet goneith the bread pudding. Ask for the frozen har lemonade with lavender added in. It was so good it should be added to the menu.

Came here for brunch with my husband. We had a devil eggs appetizer and was disappointed that it was so bland. Its hard to mess up devil eggs and they did. They promptly took care of it and offered a dessert. Thats great customer service right there. I had the cornflake chicken salad for my entree and my husband had the club sandwich. I thought my chicken was a tad overcooked and dry. It was still good but I wish it wasnt dry. The club sandwich was good. I like the soft bread while my husband preferred the bread slightly more toasted. I think it comes down to personal preference. We love the sweet potato tater tots side. The banana pudding was phenomenal. Service was great. Our server is wonderful.

Last week I hosted a dinner at the Carriage House - private area attached to Moonshine Grill and it was absolutely fantastic. Devon helped me to plan the menu, decor and flow and it was an absolute success! Wish I could remember everyone who helped out because the service was impeccable for a rowdy group of 26! Charming and intimate space and good food as always. Cant wait to host here again in the future!

If youre ever in Austin, you have to go to Moonshine Grill. The historic building is in a great downtown location and has a great vibe. The service is fantastic. They have a full bar with craft cocktails . Our bartender, Blue, was awesome. All of our meals were delicious and presented well. Try the shrimp and grits, you wont be disappointed. Its a popular destination so order a drink and chill on the porch while you wait for your table.

Love this place! Will go every time I am in Austin. I was in Austin for a work conference and a group of the other vendors I was with that said they passed by this place the and heard good things about it. So on a free night we tried it out and we all were super impressed. Our waitress was amazing. We are all in the Restaurant service business as Nation Account manger so service is a big deal to us. We ordered a few apps like Calamari (so good) and they were all good. I had the chicken fried steak and it was awesome. The others had the Pork Chop and one had the Salmon. No one had one bad thing to say. The presentation was awesome of the food the price was good, to be honest we all talked about that food for the next 2 days. Oh yea the drinks were really good too, I really liked the frozen bourbon drink.

Incredible food, experience and atmosphere. We ran the gauntlet on a good part of the menu including apps, drinks, and entrees. For appetizers, we expected the corn dog shrimp to beat out the others, but surprisingly we loved the pretzels and pimento cheese over the shrimp and wings. When it came to drinks, the Sazerac was my personal favorite. Entrees were all delicious across the chicken fried steak, chicken and waffles, jalapeno hanger steak, and Sunday house club. We had the opportunity to eat shareable apps in the bar table area prior to being seated and enjoyed both aspects of the meal. Added this spot as a favorite for when in the Austin area.

We came for the whiskey and stayed for the food. The service is top-notch. Im a chicken and waffles connoisseur. The dish here was pretty good - not the best, but definitely in the game. My hubby had the shrimp and grits and gave them a solid nod of approval. The lighting was dim, but the sound was on blast. Its loud friends. Nice for a Friday with friends.

We were given a 20 minute wait. 40 minutes later we were seated and ignored for another 20 minutes. After receiving our warm drinks, we ordered and waited another 30 minutes for the food, which not very tasty and lukewarm. The menu is rather uninteresting as well.
