We went on a very busy day but the service was still prompt and food came out at the right intervals. We enjoyed the calamari, grills octopus, peking duck, fried pad thai and Xiao long bao. It is on the pricey side for food so if you are looking for cheap eats, this might not be the place for you. And Id recommend making a reservation.

Weve had takeout from here many times, but going there is better because the hot fresh dishes are just that much better. We brought my father-in-law for his birthday specifically to get the Peking duck, one of his all time favorite dishes. He said it was the best hes ever had, on par or better than what he had in a Beverly hills restaurant 40 years ago. I have to agree it was the best duck Ive had. The crispy pad Thai, stir fried filet with onion, and general tso chicken were also great. Probably also the best general tso Ive had. We got some dim sum too, which I thought was not quite as good, though the shrimp dumpling was excellent. The soup dumplings and pot stickers werent on par with the rest of the meal imo.

**Review for 1618 Asian Food** Had the pleasure of dining at 1618 Asian Food and was blown away by the quality and taste. Their cheesecake is hands down the best I ve ever had perfectly creamy, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness. For my take the best thing on the menu was the lemongrass grilled pork spring rolls. They were served with a warm peanut sauce and were exceptionally pleasant. We also tried the green curry with steak. I think steak was not the optimal protein for this dish. It felt like the flavors were competing. That said I would gladly order the green curry again. The peppers, onions, mushrooms, and eggplant, all married with the curry in a very pleasant and satisfying way. The flavor was deep, complex, and savory, with a hint of spice. The curry itself had a very Lush mouth feel and was my second favorite item that we had that evening. We also tried the shrimp and duck pineapple fried rice. It was a pretty good dish but I feel like it could have used more basil and a little more brightness to balance out how rich the duck was. During our meal we also enjoyed a pot of hot jasmine tea. It was a pleasant accompaniment. The host and wait staff were also very attentive and pleasant. Our finish dishes were quickly taken off our table, and I never felt like we were waiting for very long. That said, nearby I also saw our waiter engaging with other tables answering questions, chatting people up, making local recommendations for other things to do that evening nearby, singing happy birthday. At no points did it seem like they were belabored to do this. I got the impression that they enjoyed their job, or were very good at selling the idea that they did. I look forward to returning in the near future and sampling more of the menu. Vegetarian options: Tofu spring rolls Vegetarian yellow curry Vegetarian dumplings Dietary restrictions: The wait staff asked each table with an earshot, including ours, about the presence of any dietary restrictions, as soon as we sat down Parking: There seemed to be parking in an apartment building nearby, but we were able to find parking on the street. Wheelchair accessibility: From what I could tell the restaurant was easily accessible by a wheelchair.

This restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes that all sound appealing on the menu. My friends and I had a great time trying out several options. We started with three appetizers: fried calamari, bao dumplings, and scallop dumplings. All were tasty and set the stage for our main courses. For my entree, I chose the chicken yellow curry, which was excellent - definitely a standout dish. My friend ordered two mains: a duck dish and fried pineapple rice. While it was a lot of food, we enjoyed it so much that we managed to finish most of it. Our server, Lily, provided great service throughout the meal, adding to the overall positive experience. I came here because our friends recommended this place we are a group of 4 for dinner. To start with I really liked the Ambiance of the place. It is very beautiful the interiors are fantastic you will feel like you are entering into a decent upscale restaurant. We started with 2 glasses of wine although their cocktail menu is super awesome. (Guess was in wine mood). We ordered TOM YUM SOUP , one with salmon and one with chicken. The Salmon portion and the chicken portion in soups blown me away it s passed the mark. The soup is fantastic 5/5. In appetizers ordered we ordered Garlic chicken wings definitely not up to the mark and none of liked it and staff gesture of amazing they did not add that in the bill with out any hesitation that s the best part of customer service. Ordered shrimp balls they are decent I wouldn t say awesome but it is good 3.5/5. In the main course we ordered their main rice item in menu the pine apple fried rice with shrimp and coconut fried with chicken. They are really really amazing definitely a 5/5 for both of them a must try. Lastly I would say the best of this restaurant the desert Flambeau Everest Cheesecake it is one of best deserts I have had in the recent times it is simply amazing a definite try and the presentation how they make is so super cool. Highly recommend this place, I know there are so many options we haven t tried in menu but what we tried is so amazing if you are fried rice fan definitely try the pineapple and coconut .

The pineapple fried rice was absolutely gorgeous to look at visually as it is served on an actual pineapple. I definitely felt that for the price though, the quantity could have been more. I was prepared to be disappointed. So many of these Asian fusion type places are fine, but not great. However, 1618 was a real standout. I have been twice and have tried several dishes and everything so far has been good to great. In particular, the red duck curry and the stir fried fillet were excellent. The calamari is quite unique and really good. Surprisingly, the pad Thai, which is usually kind of meh, was a real eye opener; strong tamarind flavors with just a bit of heat. Sometimes you don t know a good thing until you have it. Having 4mins away from this restaurant in 2021, passing it daily while jogging and/or running errands, I was finally introduced to this restaurant in 2024 while visiting a friend for graduation. That friend suggested this place for lunch on Saturday, May 11th around 11:30am and what an experience it was. Finding the way to the entrance is a bit obscure but with the tall ceilings, large door(s), well-balanced natural lighting, and perfectly placed wooden fixtures, it is instantly welcoming once you come in. As the first to arrive, I attempted to get a table but their policy is that the entire party must be present before being seated. This gave me time to appreciate the interior design while I waited. The combination of bamboo, pop-style furniture, natural light exposure and modern fixtures really do uphold the name. Once the three others arrived, we decided to be seated on their patio section. I appreciated the interior but the goal was to eat (surprisingly, you don t really notice the traffic behind you). The menu was insanely robust! There s so many delicious options to choose from in addition to what you d expect from an Asian restaurant; Pho, dumplings, fried rice, soups, you name it! The server was kind and patient. We took a while to look over the menu to decide but he checked on us a few times and had all the answers to all of our questions. I ended up ordering two Dragon Mule cocktails and Scallop Rainbow Dumplings while the table ordered Orange Chicken and Chicken Dumplings. Each item was complimentary in it s own right. The Mules were superb, a smooth & fruity passion fruit with just enough kick. The chicken dumplings were amazing! Hot to the touch and succulent. (Don t forget the Panang Sauce!) The Orange Chicken was absolutely perfect! The chicken was juicy, the glaze was smooth & rich and it didn t compromise the crispyness of the skin (and obviously the rice was perfect). I was stepping out of my comfort zone with the rainbow scallops but I was still impressed. Soft texture, moist and rich flavor garnished with a beautiful flower. Overall, I was tremendously impressed with this fine establishment. Price aside, the ambiance, the service, the expansive menu, explains why 1618 is constantly in demand. I cannot believe that it took so long for me to visit. It is officially a delicacy, a must-see Asian restaurant in Austin for momentous occasions or a pleasant food destination for spa-like service. I can t wait to return to try more unique offerings.

First time dining here and the food was amazing. I had excellent service from Graham. He was very attentive and professional. All of the bartenders were kind as well including Kiara, Hannah, and Bryan. They also were so busy. Yvonne was a lovely waitress. Nice menu with interesting, unique offerings done very well. Highly recommend papaya salad and their pho (2nd to Tan My in Austin). Fancy ambience, atypical of your standard asian restaurant. Good wine menu too. Definitely returning.

Yvonne was great! I come to 1618 all the time because the food is so good. Their lamb, oxtail pho, and xiao long bao are really good. We got a cheesecake for my sister s birthday today and it was awesome! She lights burns alcohol over the cake and uses cinnamon to make sparks

First time in and we had an absolutely wonderful meal. Place was packed and we had to wait 20 minutes, but wow was it worth it. Shaira was our server and she took great care of us. We had soup dumplings to start, which were up there with the best we ve had. Filet mignon with onions, Saigon lamb, and chicken lemongrass vermicelli bowl were all outstanding. Can t wait to come back in.

Food is pricey (to be expected) for what you get but very good. Did not take long for all of it to come out. Got the 5 sampler appetizer, filet minion with onion and General Tso plate. Once we sat down by the friendly hostess it took forever for our waitress to acknowledge us which I had to ask about. She was not attentive. I had to call her over every single time we needed something. Did not get checked on. The $10 each dragonfruit and lemongrass infused drinks were so strong that it felt like drinking a candle. Couldn t handle it and had to keep pouring water in to dilute it. Nice place inside, nice atmosphere. All of the waiters and waitresses did not look very happy. Usually for an expensive place they re super super friendly. But good food.

This place is a hidden gem on riverside. the food was soooo good. I tried a lot of food i never have and the pork Bao was delicious, and the pho was the best i ve had in a long time. The food was quick but fresh and all of it was really tasty. There was a violinist playing at 7 and he played soft ambient music. Marvy , our server, was very sweet and explained everything to us.

Delicious food and attentive server, however detracted by: 1) I had a reservation and checked in with the host a few minutes early. They said it would be a few minutes which I assumed to mean we would be seated at our reservation time. However, something looked off as walk ins of the same party size were seated before us and it was already about 5 minutes past my reservation time. By this time, a different host was at the front and I asked them how much longer it would be. They checked for my name and indicated that it had fallen to the bottom of the list, apologized, and seated us right away. Not a great first impression. 2) I was looking forward to ordering the Banh Trang Da Nang (Vietnamese Pizza) which appears as an appetizer option on the Main Menu of their site. However, I was confused as it wasnt showing on the dine in menu. I asked our server who clarified it was only available for Happy Hour. 3) The womens restroom desperately needed maintenance. The stalls were in complete disarray.

My friend and I visited this restaurant for the first time, and we were absolutely blown away by the exceptional service we received from our waitress, Shaira. From the moment we sat down, Shairas warm and welcoming demeanor made us feel right at home. Her attention to detail was impeccable, and she had a keen sense of what we might enjoy. When we asked for a recommendation, she enthusiastically suggested the scallion pancakes, and let me tell you, they were out of this world! Crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside a perfect start to our meal. Throughout our dining experience, Shaira was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring our drinks were topped up and checking in on us just the right amount. She has an incredible ability to make you feel like the most important guests in the room, all while managing her other tables with the same level of care and efficiency. This was a great spot for a wide variety of Asian food! They had a little bit of everything from Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese. We got the 4 season duck which had a wide variety of flavors, and the snap pea bao. Both were very good!! The service was fantastic, prices were reasonable, and the ambience was very nice. The tea came in a cute little pot with a tea cup and we also got a birthday dessert which was nice! Definitely would recommend!
