Yesterday was my first visit to Catfish Sam s, but it wont be my last. Ive passed by this place for a while and finally stopped in with a coworker from Mississippi. Upon entering, we learned that their catfish comes from Mississippi, the catfish capital of the world. The staff and atmosphere were pleasant, and I personally prefer and enjoy Ma and Pop establishments, so it was a delightful experience. Our waitress, Melissa, was sweet and helpful; I highly recommend her. The rolls were tasty, and the food arrived quickly. The fries, hush puppies, beans, and their homemade hot sauce were all good. As someone particular about catfish (my favorite fish), I have high standards, the fillets were delicious and generously sized. Catfish Sam s, Im much obliged to you and y all earned a spot in my regular rotation. I look forward to returning!

I enjoyed my food enjoyed my visit and appreciate the feedback that was offered since I had not been to the establishment for quite some time. I was disappointed to not have been served after receiving my food. The waitress was sweet, but she may have been. I guess too busy with Regular customers? Because I heard her interacting with them. However, she did not check on my table at all. After she served my food, I had to engage her in order to get a to go plate and a bag and my check overall. Id give it a three and a half for not not bad.

The greeter at the door was pleasant, the service was good, the food served ASAP. I ordered the catfish filet lunch special and it was delicious. The lunch special is a lot, two catfish filet sweet potato fries (optional) hush puppies, tomato relish, onions, okra, coleslaw and baked beans. I think I covered it all. Enjoy!!! Ive never had a bad experience until this evening. My husband and I came in to dine at approx 6:15 p.m. We where seated and greeted promptly. Our waitress was pleasant at first and took our order. Approx. Two minutes later I realized my husband had ordered the whole catfish which takes much longer to cook. So I decided we should order an appetizer. I asked the waitress if I could get the menu back because we where going to order an appetizer. The waitresss immediately stopped being pleasant and seem to have an attitude. We received our food from someone from the kitchen. The waitress did not deliver any rolls. My husband had to get up to ask her for them. It was 45 minutes from the time we ordered before she ever asked if we needed anything or even asked if we needed more tea. I never leave reviews but she is bad for business. Edit Response to owner. The waitress was an older possibly hispanic lady working the Rt. Side of the restaurant. Even though she never came back to the table to take the order for the appetizer or check on us for 45 minutes. I did give the food and atmosphere a 5 star. We do plan to come back for the great food will just make sure we are not seated in her section.

I have been coming to this establishment for over 20 years since high school. I called on 6/25 a month in advance to book their private room for a surprise dinner for my husband s birthday on 7/27. I was told that the date was reserved and I needed to come put a $75 deposit. Given we live in Dallas, I had my dad pay the deposit and called the day before to confirm our reservation which was confirmed by the lady that answered the phone. My husband s entire family arrives and they have a completely different party in the room and lost the reservation. The manager Mason was not apologetic only said that he refunded the money. It wasn t about the money. It was about having 25 people show up and we all have to sit at different tables. Mason, please be more courteous and respectful. I will never eat here again after the way we were treated. *Edit: in response to the owner s comments: I attempted the call the number you left which is not a working number but appreciate you following up. I just wanted to clarify that there was no confusion on the reservation. It was made on 6/25 with Juan who supposedly wrote it down as 7/27. As to the party size, Juan asked how many in my party. I told him at least 20 but maybe closer to 30 as I was still awaiting confirmation from out of town guests. Juan stated that the room only accommodates 40 and that we would be fine as long as our party was smaller than that. As for Mason s apology, my father arrived early. I didn t arrive until a little after 5pm. When I arrived and asked him what happened, he was not apologetic and rude to me. The reservation was under my name. I had my father come pay the deposit since I live 45 minutes away in Dallas and Juan said it couldn t be paid over the phone. But I paid the deposit and my contact info was attached to the reservation. When we arrived, we all sat at different tables for almost an hour while Melissa did give us drinks and rolls. As the person who made the reservation and called the establishment the day before to make sure that everything was set for my husband s birthday dinner, I would have liked a genuine apology. As I mentioned to Mason, it wasn t about the deposit which is why I gave Melissa the refunded money/deposit for the reservation as her additional tip on top of the 20% for the food. Catfish sams has the best fish in the Dfw area I highly recommend them..all the food is always fresh and its my favorite place to eat. Everyone is so friendly. Its absolutely great. We have gone to catfish Sam s for 15 years. We went there tonight to get an order to go, and the prices are incredible! We ask for an extra shrimp, and it was 4.95!! ask for extra beans and it was 4.95 for a little cup. They are absolutely crazy trying to. squeeze every penny for the customer!, The management doesn t care about the customer, just what They can make profit on!!

This local family owned place is a hidden gem. Fish was crispy and fresh! Hush puppies have some spice but not hot. Tarter sauce was very pickly. Rolls are dynamite, and I couldnt have enough! Beans were ranch style but delicious. Portions are huge, so bring your appetite (or share). Staff was friendly and interactive! Loved this place and will be returning!

Hands down the best place for catfish and gumbo. Their food was excellent. The catfish breading does not crumble nor is it soggy. Thee gumbo is the perfect amount of spicy. Very cool old-school catfish place. Of course I had the fried catfish and it was cooked perfectly. The sides are traditional country fare like pickled vegetables and cole slaw. My only complaint is that the hush puppies are not in the same level as the other food. To me, hush puppies are as much of the experience as the fried catfish. I would recommend that they not use the tubular premade hush puppies and go with something a bit more homemade. Service was fast and friendly. My kind of place. I live in a place where catfish is not a normal meal offering. Anytime I am in the southern part of the US, I like to find a place like this. Decent catfish with very nice waitstaff. Feels like the early 90s never ended inside. Kind of expensive but the food is pretty good, I m from Missouri and grew up eating wild caught catfish and haven t found much in the DFW area that measures up but this is one of the better spots in the metroplex.

The BEST catfish weve had in a while. The shrimp and catfish immediately reminded me of growing up in Mississippi. All meals come with cole slaw, baked beans, and relish (basically pickled tomatoes). Oh, and they bring out a basket of huge, warm rolls and butter! We had an awesome server, Melissa. Definitely ask for her! We also had an opportunity to speak with the owner. She was pleasant and excitedly shared the history of this family-owned restaurant. If youre looking for some good, Southern-tasting seafood, stop by. We came for the first time. I had the mini Slap yo Mama Sam s Catfish dinner it came with coleslaw beans tomato relish and hush puppies and a baked tater. I really don t care for fries. They are however fresh cut fries. Our server was Lucy such a sweet girl and so helpful. Darrell had the shrimp dinner it has the same sides. We both like sweet coleslaw and we asked and she brought a sample. Nope didn t like but that s our preference y all might like it. I had a bake potato and I asked for lots of butter and sour cream. This is the first time ever did I get what I asked for!!!! I got double tomato relish Darrell got double beans. I had to taste the beans for the review. I can tell you that the mini strips looked more like filets the fish was hot just the right amount of spice an crispy. The rolls were almost as good as my homemade rolls LOL. The food was so good! Darrell s shrimp was jumbo butterfly and he ate them all! Hush puppies were delicious especially with butter! You need to make try that s place and ask for Lucy!! We will be back!

Their food is not as good as it use to be when we first started going their several years ago. And the relish tray that use to come with every meal now does not come with the smaller portion meals and comes with the meal instead of coming before the meal.

Been here twice now and would highly recommend. While the price tag may seem high, portion sizes are huge. I always bring home leftovers so it s worth the cost even with appetizers. I highly recommend the gumbo Staff professional and courteous. A little sad I didn t see a fish this time in their fish tank (it was most likely hiding from the dinner rush)

The food was delicious as always. Our server, Juan, was amazing. Very friendly, very attentive & made us feel special. The atmosphere has changed much, which we enjoyed. The pralines are a must! Wheelchair accessibility: Was simple, I used a cane and had no problems. Plenty of handicap parking
