I was giving some friends from England a tour of DFW. They were interested in seeing sights related to JFK and I knew this school used to be a casino and that a lot of celebrities and maybe some organized crime were involved. Even though I grew up in Arlington I had never made the time to visit. Theres so much history still left underground and unexplored - I hope the city or some benefactor decides to invest because theres so many escape tunnels left hidden and unexplored - this tour will just leave you wanting more! Ask about going to see where Oswald is buried just down the road!

I would recommend anyone to visit the Top O the Hill Terrace. If you love history and know anything about the great preacher Dr. J. Frank Norris, you will love your visit to this place. You not only will receive a good history lesson, but you can also get a picture next to their statue of J. Frank Norris. So, enjoy!

Anyway, my castle was the sandstone gate turrants next to the Jobe place that was built in 1920. I dont know it is still there, but our first Christmas tree was a live silver spruce that was in a large wash tub. Mom and dad planted that tree in the back yard. Dad had an old iron wash pot on legs with a grate across the top that he would grille steaks on on Saturday nights...while drinking beer.

Sunday we went on a tour for Top O Hill Terrace at Arlington Baptist College. Vickie Bryant lead the tour and was fantastic. She was so passionate and has uncovered so much information about VEGAS BEFORE VEGAS right in Arlington, Texas .who knew! We were introduced to so much history and learned of the hidden tunnels that had been used at that time. Definitely would recommend the tour and we re interested in going back. Thank you Vickie.

Top historical place to visit in Arlington. A Vegas before Las Vegas. Mrs. Vickie shares tons of information about the history of the place. All info at the top of the tongue. Shes encyclopedia of details. You dont understand how you spent 2,3 hours listening to her narration. The old artifacts are well displayed n neat. Admire her enthusiasm and energy to take us around the property, the tunnel etc. She should write a book on this. Enjoyed my visit as an international student of UTA.... Best wishes from Medha.

I had no idea about the history of Top O Hill Terrace until my sister arranged for us to go on a tour. I was completely unaware that this place was VEGAS BEFORE VEGAS and now its Arlington Baptist College. If you LOVE or just LIKE History, youll enjoy Top O Hill Terrace. This location in the 1930s and 40s was a gambling playground for the rich, famous and infamous. Were talking about some of the big names of that time like Bonnie and Clyde, Mae West, W.C.Fields, Gene Autry, Frank Sinatra,, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Jack Dempsey, Max Baer and the man responsible for Las Vegas, Bugsy Siegel just to name a few. Before it was a casino, it was a tea room but in the 1920s Fred and Mary Browning bought the property and converted it to a gambling mecca. The Browns added an escape tunnel and secret rooms for hiding the gambling equipment during police raids. The tunnel and secret rooms still exist and can be seen during the tour. Its all just fascinating stuff. Tour guide, Mrs. Vickie Bryant, is absolutely WONDERFUL. This tour is a WINNER in my book.

This place is called the Vegas before Vegas an illicit casino and brothel where many rich and famous people visited during the prohibition era.

The tour was great; very informative and extremely well done. This Arlington secret needs to be advertised more and needs assistance from the city of Arlington or local charity to help support it financially. There is a ton of history that needs to be documented and preserved for the future just like museums all over the country. There is also a ton of additional history underground that needs to be uncovered. This requires money. Wake up Mayor! Wake up City Hall! Provide some assistance and/or help find an organization that will.

Visited to take pictures of where my dad went to seminary back in 1964-1968, and stumbled upon Ms. Vickie Bryant who kindly invited me to tag along on a tour that she was giving a womens club. Im 39 yrs old, and not only did I hear tremendous history of where my dad went to school, but also learned so much of how this became an historic landmark. Ms. Vickie has some stories of famous celebrities that are confirmed to have visited the site when it was a high-end casino, along with underground tunnels and rooms that were used to escape police. she shows the facts and artifacts to prove it. Very interesting! Well worth it, especially for me to better connect with my dad and understand the times that he grew up around. known as Vegas before Vegas. from poker to preachers. To God be the glory!

Fascinating piece of hidden Arlington history. Tour guide mentions too often how much her religion should prevent her from talking about drinking and gambling. And how telling certain stories would guarantee her being killed by the Mob. (If thats true, just keep it to yourself!). But. Truly interesting history going on at Top O Hill Terrace, and she tells a completely engaging, if monotone, story.

Vicki was very informative and has done a lot of research to be sure all her information is accurate. It was very cool that everything was tied together with visitors coming in sharing stories and keeping history alive. The tour consisted of watching an hour long presentation and about a 15 minute tour. I wouldve learned more by watching a documentary on the PBS channel. Along with not being very engaging, the presentation was very much the Baptist Church patting them selves on the back for buying and ending the casino, and encouraging people to pat them on the back to. The actual tour consisted of going down a hall way on the side of the hill, which was about 20ft before you have to turn back around and go back out. After that was the courtyard with a fountain, and a hokey magnetic trick by the tour guide, where when walking over certain spots the magnets would move around. Even if it is actually magnetic and not the tour guide moving their wrists, it wasnt that impressive. I very much believe the tour guide is blinded by their own excitement. After these 3 quick spots, they proceed to talk about other tunnels and things, but dont even bother to show them, in fear of harmful gasses. I really think that there is more to this place and that it has potential, but for Petes sake! Be more engaging! Dont just brag about yourselves the entire time! Im not here to be indoctrinated into the Baptist Church! You have potential to be more engaging and more exciting but youre very much limited by your own inability to humble yourselves!

Vicki Bryant, curator of the museum, creator of this magnificent tour, must be commended. She has dedicated herself to the research and the forming of the Top O Hill museum for many many years. What she delivers is the best dog & pony show of this historical place, it is a must experience for all that love to soak up the quite unique happenings that went on during the 20s & 30s up on that hill ! I wish I could give you ten stars. Thank you for such a memorable day. !!

Mystic Gambling The presentation was most enlightening and incredible to believe the celebrated guests, gangsters, and gamblers that frequented the establishment. The great lengths that were taken to thwart the police and FBI were quite unique. While the presentation is almost 2 hours, there is a short break and it is very interesting information. Then you take a short walking tour outside.
