Just watched the documentary with Will Ferrell and Harper. If an establishment is so stuck up their own butts they cant laugh with WILL Ferrell...A Comedian. I would Never want to eat there. Get over yourselves. Lighten up. Life is too short to be so freaking serious. Especially when youre serving 72 ounce steaks.

The tomahawk steak was so delicious and flavorful that I ate the whole thing, even though it was quite heavy for one person. The top sirloin was tender and went well with the cheesy potatoes, fried okra, and fried mushrooms. Everything was perfectly cooked to our likings, and the flavor was amazing.

Its a tourist attraction, not a tourist trap. The streaks are outstanding. It is a bit pricey. Tables are picnic style and it is noisy. Service is fine and it is generally just a nice stop in going through Amarillo. Dietary restrictions: They have a dietary restrictions menu, just ask. Lots of options.

EDIT: Its to bad the truth hurts and they blocked me on Facebook from telling people what this meal is truly like. They cant block this thoe. The meat is extremely grainy and very textured. Passing through truck driver from VT. I was more than disappointed on the 72 oz steak challenge. The 3 shrimp are good, the simple salad and baked potato were good, the roll is absolutely awful. Took a bite and the more I chewed it the more I wanted to puke but knew I had to swallow it, the girl said she loves the rolls. I told her shes never eaten a good roll in her life if she thinks these are good. The steak, I ate almost a quarter of it and told them to toss it in the trash can. 1st bite was good to fair. The more I ate the worse it got. The meat is a cheap cut with absolutely zero flavor, the only flavor it has is from the seasoning they put on it. Your being use as a cheap side show. 3 other people were trying it and no one finished it. Thats NOT a steak, thats a cheap butt roast. Ive had better steak at a cheap diner with steak and eggs. Ill never be back to eat, maybe to grab a drink at best. Everything might be bigger in Texas but it sure doesnt taste better.

There is a really good gift shop and so many things to see, photo, and checkout. We didnt stay in the motel, it didnt look great from the outside.

As a generational Texan, I ve stopped by this steakhouse over a dozen times. It s the kind of place you count on for a big steak, hearty sides, and that unmistakable Texas charm. After watching Will Ferrell and Harper s documentary on Netflix, though, I started to think more about how places like this could improve. As a trans person, I ve felt the quiet tension of walking into certain spaces, even in my own home state. The food and service here have always been consistent, but there s something to be said for making sure every traveler no matter who they are feels like they belong. Texans pride themselves on hospitality, but that shouldn t just apply to some of us. I think this place, and many others, could benefit from embracing that wider sense of welcome. We can love our traditions and still make room for everyone. That s what makes Texas strong our ability to adapt without losing who we are.

My server was rude and she was not willing to help at all. She was slow and she didnt check on me or refill my soda not even once. The service is slow, I spent almost two hours there. I ordered a special cut steak it was expensive but there was nothing special about it. My steak was overcooked, dry and hard. I complained and it was done better the second time but this wasnt a 50 dollar steak for sure! I could have a steak like this at any Texas Roadhouse in America for half the price I paid here. 24 oz steak 15 oz in bones and white stuff ( see the photo of my plate after I finished). I ordered loaded baked potato and I got it plain. Pretty much anything that could be done wrong about my order it was done wrong! I left zero tip and I wont be eating at this restaurant again.

The Dallas cut steak I ordered was perfect. The service was great and the atmosphere was uniquely Texan. The reason for the 4 star is alot of the products in your store were made in China? I would be willing to pay more something made in the good ol USA! You can do better than that. Parking: I didnt count them, but I sure they were near 100 or more with trailer and RV parking in a big lot at the rear of the restaurant.

Been here a couple times and had their catered food once or twice during my decade or so living in Amarillo. Some fun entertainment to be had, its a huge tourist trap, but the food is hit or miss. Had a great breakfast here once, but every steak they ever made me tasted like an ash tray. So does the air, it REEKS of cigarettes all the time. Keep your children far away from here for the sake of their health.

If youve never been, you really should try it. Prices are in line for what you get. Traveling alone for business and Ive been here a few times, Ill go to Outback down the road. Cheaper, quieter, and quicker. With family or a business group id certainly come here and enjoy the package. Food is great. Servers work hard and try to keep up. Good spot.

Of course a must visit on our USA tour. Huge parking lot. When we entered we were speechless cannot be described. Of course fully based on tourism. A nice lady brought us to the table, ordered us Meal 2x steak... with potatoes, beans, fries, Caesar salad, 1x beer, 1x Coke and then we paid 100 dollars. Steak was very tough for both of us, and covered in cartilage (flaxy). Fries were the worst weve ever eaten. It was an experience but I wouldnt eat in this restaurant again. Your giving Texas a bad name. Your steaks are terrible! Texas is known for being friendly and your staff are depressing. Zero smiles zero personality. I dont think any of them are starving for sure. Your prices went up $6 per item. The quality is none! Service is the absolute worst! I use to stop in here regularly but the last few times it just went completely down hill. I live in Texas. I buy our beef from a ranch . Whatever beef your selling is worst than Dennys or Ihop for 1/3 of the price plus better service there. Black bear diner at the TA offers better options for alot less. I dont mind paying a high price but the setvice and the quality is garbage! Loaded baked potato? Lies. Picnic style! Steak sauce, none. Your version of sauce is crap. Picnic style dinner salad. Picnic style drink cups. Worst unfriendly zero smiles personally at the door. Where do you find these people????? The only thing keeping you in buiness is the tourist. Sad sad. People texas has better steaks just nothing as bad as this place!

Had a wonderful time here. We experienced bad weather passing through and stopped. They have indoor horse stalls for $40 per horse, per night, and they let us park our rig on the dirt lot, providing we werent blocking any cars. You have to check into the office before you unload your horses. They give you your stall numbers and instructions at that point. Now to the restaurant. The ambiance was perfect. They have a really nice giftshop there, a place to buy sweets, a little bar, a shooting gallery for the kids, and the restaurant. The setup is nice, and as we all know, they are known for the FREE 72oz steak (providing you eat it, along with the fixings, in an hour). If you dont, you pay $72 for your meal. We enjoyed just watching someone try. The staff were all dressed in Western wear, so we felt comfy coming in our jeans, cowboy hats, and western wear also. A+++. Yall got something special here.

Had desserts displayed in a fridge to see what they looked like, the chocolate cake was good! Parking: Parked our Dooley in the parking lot on the side of the building. Kid-friendliness: Kids would definitely enjoy it here!

Great steak, sides and atmosphere. All steaks cooked as requested, had excellent seasoning and sear, and we also had fun taking pictures afterwards all around the restaurant. Really enjoyed the jalapeño creamed corn, sautéed mushrooms, and loaded baked potatoes. We were seated on the second level which was open to the main dining room, but the downside was we were above the kitchen grill where smoke wafted up and was uncomfortable at times recommend avoiding that area. Overall 5 stars from this family of 3 adults and 1 teen.

Food was delicious - huge portions, which was expected. They had a cheap flight of all of their beers brewed there and growlers available in a bunch of sizes. I had the ribs and they were awesome. The waitstaff was great, they made sure to get the football game on in the bar despite it being kind of a hassle with streaming. The vibe in here is awesome as well - lots of historic and kitchy charm. Definitely a great Route 66 vibe.

This place was so cool. We got to watch 3 guys trying to eat a 72oz steak, salad, three shrimp, baked potato , roll and butter. In a hour. We got to witness one guy finish it. He had a hard time getting up. So he gets his meal free,t-shirt and a certificate. The other two gave up! Service and food were great!!! Recommend it highly!

Great service! Great rolls and atmosphere... unfortunately, I had better steak. Super salty, I asked for medium rare. I got a well-done steak. I had high expectations of this place due to the food network and some of my favorite shows. I thought this was the best place for a great steak.. this place was part of my bucket list, and $33 dollars, sadly not worth it, Im very disappointed

Our steaks were so weirdly cooked. We both ordered medium rare but it was blue rare on half the steak and medium well on the other half. It makes me think the grill s heating element wasn t working properly.

The family decided to stop and check out this staple along rt. 66 while traveling from Ohio to Arizona. What a complete disappointment. Our waitress never put in our appetizer and we never seen her until about an hour later when she brought our meals out very cold and my steak was so over cooked I immediately sent it back and did not eat at all. How does a huge steakhouse mess up a steak? My wifes was cold and over seasoned. At this point the manager came over and she did the heat she could to try and rectify the poor service and terrible food. Clearly our waitress had forgotten about us which is crazy because they werent even busy! We didnt even eat or visit the gift shops, why would I spend my hard earned money at such a terrible place? Very, very disappointed. Good luck if you stop and get Cecelia as your waitress! Awful!

Its a gimmick and a tourist trap. If you cap your expectations at that level then youll probably like Big Texan Ranch. It isnt about the food because you can do so much better for your dollar. I ordered a Tbone steak and it was by far the most gristly Ive ever had. I had to take multiple breaks from eating because my hands were quite literally cramping from cutting -- actually it was more tearing and ripping than anything else. I ordered medium rare and I received all of the above in a single cut of meat. The center still had a pulse while the outside and a large swath of the center was just shy of well done. The tenderloin side of the Tbone was all of three bites (five if you count the gristle). The taste of the meat was bland and empty, not much flavor there. The sides I ordered were a baked potato and steamed broccoli. The potato was fine, hard to mess that up. The steamed broccoli ended up being more like mashed broccoli, the consistency was more suited for nursing home consumption. All in all, I was disappointed after all the hype. It seems to be the type of place where you go once just to experience it only to realize that one time is more than enough.

There is a gift shop in there that we went through and before you know it they were calling us to be seated. Food was amazing! Atmosphere was awesome, we all loved it! My daughter had such a good time, games to play, the giftshop, the hat with the kids meal.... all of it was perfect. Will definitely return!
