I love the park, different play areas for kids depending on age and mobility. However, today I was pushing a kid on a swing and decided to swing next to them. Not even that high and the swing broke and I landed on tailbone and have bruising on hands. The area close to the dog park needs to be maintained. It is very unsafe for kids.

You may ask why did I give Thompson Park a 5 rating. For one they maintain the grounds and keep the grass constantly cut. Sure some areas maybe high or trash hasnt been picked up. But overall its a pretty nice park. You can walk your dog or take your dog to the dog park. Walk with family around the lake. Have a picnic or set and relax for a bit.

Beautiful big park with multiple play structures and picnic areas. Unfortunately there is a ridiculous amount of broken glass and discarded pop tops, cant move 6 inches without finding more. Sad that there is so much trash strewn about such a lovely park. Makes it unsafe for dogs and kids. I hope the city cleans it up! Dog-friendliness: Big fenced in dog park with plenty of trees. Pond is murky & questionable, my swamp loving dog opted to not go in. There is a lot of broken glass and other potentially hazardous trash everywhere, be very careful and ready to administer first aid.

This was an awful park/playground. There was broken glass EVERYWHERE and trash scattered all over. The structures are super high off the ground too with no padding underneath. Not impressed at all

Broken glass and beer bottle lids everywhere, on sidewalks, grass, parking lots. Bathrooms were filthy and half didnt have water-and we tried several. No matter where we walked there was a disgusting smell of urine and rotting fish. Do not bring your kids here. Playground: Broken glass everywhere Toilets: Filthy, no water, sinks dont have faucets.

My family held my mothers memorial here. Playground: Plenty of space. Toilets: Very clean. Dog-friendliness: Has a dog park. Picnic area: Numerous spots. Lots of shade.

Amazing park, always fun to come by. Large park with lots of green areas and lots to do. Lots of trees and shade and the grass is very green! Its also very clean and well maintained. Picnic tables and paved trails all throughout the park. Theres a couple of playgrounds, including a really neat pirate ship themed one, but that one is usually packed. Theres a pretty large dog park in it too. Theres a lake with a walking trail and benches around it. And of course, theres the zoo attached! You can see into the zoo from the outside at different parts of the park. I was able to see a fox and a camel from outside the zoo. Very comfortable place. Overall, its a great park that me and my kids!

This park was a great find on our travels it was a huge has so much to do in the area from the zoo to the amusement park within its location. This park has lots of walkways and picnic tables even a neat private spot behind the zoo where you can see some of the animals in the zoo! Very worth visiting!

Stupid park maintenance its supposed to be for public people they complain one minute of being on the grass and now its we cant camp there anymore!! Oh and we cleaned up the trash when no one did so now its trashy again so have fun keeping it clean !!!!! Toilets: Nasty as hell never clean

I go here every day to run my dog. Its sad to see the city letting this park go as they have. Cars Park on the grass everywhere which has killed it. There is trash throwed all threw out the park, including broken glass bottles. This could and used to be such a nice park but without police present it has surely gone downhill.

Not impressed by the Grove Disc Golf park. It was difficult to find my way around. Couldn t find the basket for hole 4. Just seemed very disorganized and there was so much trash and glass all over the course. I ve never seen so much glass on a disc golf course. It was EVERYWHERE. The lakes were also full of trash, and I saw a dead turtle. Just not really impressed at all by this course. I don t know how it is considered a B+ course

Picnic area: Right by wonderland Park in Thompson park there are many picnic areas and grills it is also dog friendly and has a dog friendly park for the animals to run and play if youre not in the park please have Mona leash they have frisbee golf they theres a swimming pool for in the summertime too available there theres two big ponds flooding room to walk play plenty of playgrounds restroom facilities all around awesome place to go

Always fun to go to the zoo. You want to try and go early in the day. When it gets warmer in the day the animals dont do much and tend to hide. Reasonably priced. We took a picnic lunch and ate at the park before going to the zoo. Could hear the peacocks calling to one another. Can make a fun day of it . Theres a playground near the zoo and picnic tables. Close by is Wonderland amusement park and the water park. You can spend the day and h as very lots of fun.

We love this park. Friendly people walk every morning. City park workers are friendly. It s the most beautiful park in Amarillo, imo. Tons of trees and shade, all kinds of bird watching, a long walking trail, several playgrounds, a small lake, numerous picnic areas, a zoo, frisbee golf, Wonderland, bbq areas and a brand new public pool!

Beautiful park but the workers driving the maintenance trucks and little golf carts like to think they are the police and follow you around and creep right up on you to see what youre doing. Its no big deal, not doing anything wrong, but most people go to relax and chill and they starting to make it feel like youre being followed everything you do. But its happening at all the city parks so choose a beautiful one like Thompson

Motorcycle cops: where are you at??? City could make easy money, speed limit is 20, most drive faster than that, dont plan on taking kids here unless you want them ran over; will that be what it takes for cops to get speeders, hope not. Other than that, decent park, lots of trees/shade, zoo is attached to park, lots of hilly bumpy uneven road.

I love this park for its got plenty of spots with awesome trees covering big open area to hang out with the family or walk your dog. I love the parks chill place to hit and chill with the family. The zoo kinda sucks just doesnt have much animals to look at or even activities. I miss the pool so much that was my favorite pool to go swimming but hopefully they break it down and build it back up who knows. The disc golf is also cool but I suck really bad at it.

This is one of the beautiful parks to enjoy. This park got a zoo and summer there is wonderland and got many rides. Now they making a pool and support to be very big for enjoying too. This park is very beautiful and historic. It also has a zoo and has Wonderland with many games but they only open in summer. Right now they are building some pools to enjoy.
