We got right in after church, which was a relief, because it was really packed. Our waitress was very friendly, and spoke both english and spanish paying out was a little hectic, due to the customers waiting to be seated. Even still, our waitress remained calm friendly and qot us out quickly. I definitely recommend this place to family amd friends.

The queso (cheese dip) was not good. I made the mistake of ordering the small appetizer and also asked for it on my burrito (since queso is normally my favorite...but not here). The salsa was also too bland. My husband enjoyed the chile rellanos and said they were quite good. Fresh flour tortillas were great.

The place is clean and nice, the girls are respectful, they provide good service, we usually only stopped by for food but now that we had a little time we ate there, I recommend it if you like Mexican food this place is for you, the sopes , stuffed chiles, roast beef and Menudo are some of the dishes you will enjoy here! Does not resemble good Mexican food in any form. The restaurant was cold and the salsa might be the worst I have ever tasted. Im from Houston and have a very good idea what it is supposed to taste like. Chips were stale, and the food was very bland. The refried beans were runny and the rice was very bland. My tacos Al pastore were pretty bad. The marinade wasnt tasty at all. The service was fast and friendly. Thats the only good thing about this place.

The food is absolutely delicious. The corn tortillas are fresh and hand-made. The atmosphere is genuine and they have gorgeous original oil paintings on the walls. The picture uploaded is what was left on my plate after I ate about a 3/4 of the proportion they served. I didnt know I was going to like it so much.

I really wanted to like this restaurant but everything we tried in general was too spicy despite us making sure to ask the server if what we ordered wasnt. When she came and checked on us I mentioned that I wasnt going to be able to eat the food and she just laughed as if I was making a joke. Our server didnt offer something else which I found odd because that is what any other restaurant would normally do; even if I had declined to get something else. I think she should have showed some type of effort; at least to make it better. The salsa, the red chilaquiles were really spicy and the barbacoa was really mostly fatty pieces. The one thing we loved was the refried beans and Mexican potatoes but thats not going to be enough to probably come back which really sucks because they have plenty of truck parking and is hard to find a place to eat with tractor/trailer parking on i40.

We have found us our newest favorite Mexican food restaurant!! First time I was here was for breakfast, and let me tell you I was very impressed.! Reminded me when I was back home and my mom would make us breakfast on the weekends and mannnn, it just hits different. But then I decided to take the family to a nice evening of fun, laughter, and of course food. The waitstaff themselves are great, very friendly, attentive, always walking around making sure if you need something, that they are on it But the food..!! Man ole man, its on another level, this is not tex-mex, pr just your average restaurant that serves Mexican dishes, no sir-rey, they specialize in only Mexican dishes!! The menu seems endless, so best of luck on deciding on what to order, but we have ordered Chicken fajitas, smashing and hott, Gorditas with beef steak and we add the green tomatillo sauce on it, has a pretty good bite for spiciness, and then finally the Guisado De Puerco Verde, this dish rite here is the bomb, very,very rich in flavor, very tender, and plenty of food to fill you up and should have some left to take home. Youll get free chips and hotsauce when your seated, always a win-win But the fresh homemade corn tortillas are where the money is at, depe ding on the dish, youll get to choose between corn or flour, always go for corn, but you can also order a dozen tortillas to take home with you, for $11 a dozen!! But I could go on and on, but I think you get my gist that this is a place that deserves for you to try out for yourself . I had been here about 5 years ago on business and enjoyed my experience here. I found myself back in town on business yet again and wanted to see how they were doing. The restaurant was starting to fill up during dinner time but I was quickly seated. Brenda was my server and she was very polite and attentive. Chips and salsa arrived. The chips were just ok and the non-hot salsa was in a squeeze bottle. This did not work with the chips because the salsa was so runny and I made a mess on the table trying to eat it with chips. I ordered the chicken taco plate with rice and beans. The food arrived at a timely manner. A squeeze bottle of hotter salsa arrived and it was very easy to apply it to the tacos. The corn tortillas tasted so fresh. The chicken was good and the ingredients were fresh. The rice and beans were very tasty, as I added the hot salsa to them. I would definitely come back but just ask that the restaurant provides better table salsa for the chips. I would definitely recommend this place to Mexican food lovers!

I really was shocked at what a good deal I got for a real square meal that tasted as good as any high-end comfort food Ive ever had. We both enjoyed our dinner at the El charro Mexican restaurant here in Amarillo Texas. This restaurant is just down the street from the RV park we are staying at The Big Texan RV ranch. We both wanted the chile verde plate that comes with beans and rice but I also had a huge hankering for the shrimp cocktail, check out the pictures. The shrimp cocktail was just loaded with shrimp and avocado and tasted fantastic. There were quite a few locals there also so you know its a nice place to eat. I would definitely recommend this place.

Friendly, attentive service; Eric was our waiter. Almost all the food is homemade and you can tell! I had the chile rellenos which were some of the best Ive ever had. I dont usually eat the rice and beans, but they were very tasty too, especially the beans. The guacamole and salsa were delicious and homemade as well. The atmosphere was relaxed, clean, and plenty of space between tables; not too crowded in. Great spot for a tasty Mexican meal!

Updated 11/28/2023: dining room is still clean, service was fine, flautas were dry and the chicken was shredded with not much flavor. Dipping them into the red sauce and sour cream (that was on the side) was necessary. Beans and rice tasted great! I wanna say its the only Mexican place where Ive eaten all the beans and rice before. The dining room is clean, the service was alright but the dish I chose was unremarkable. I had the lunch special gordita with beans and rice.

El Charro had been referred to me by the front desk clerk at a local hotel; so, before retiring for the night, I decided to take her suggestion. The restaurant is on the service road off I-40, and fairly easy to access. There werent many patrons when I arrived, so no wait time (it was later in the evening on a Tuesday). The place seemed quite spacious, and it looks like they have a banquet room off to the side for larger groups. After being seated, the waitress brought my water and a basket of chips with some salsa; I enjoyed them while waiting for my order to arrive. I chose the 3-taco plate with adobado, which were delicious, and the beans and rice were yummy too. The salsa wasnt anything to write home about, but---to each, his/her own. I had enough food left over to enjoy the tacos when I got back to my own home. The servers were pleasant and friendly and each helped one another with orders, etc. Overall, I would stop by again if in the area.

The place is elegant, nice, but the taste of the food leaves much to expectation, Not only the food, but the Aguas frescas taste like plain water, and expensive. I dont think to get back there, ever.

Pork tips, rice&beans. Gravy was season very well had a nice consistency. However, It would have been nice ic the bones would have been removed. The rice and beans were what would be expected enjoyed the different types of salsa mild and spicy. The servers were nice the atmosphere is a little loud for me. Would recommend!

We have been on the hunt for a local Mexican food place and trying a new one each Saturday. Eeek, if you are white, don t eat here. It was so obvious we were not welcomed. Should have turned around and left after being ignored to be seated. We were never offered refills, waitress never came back after bringing food. Tables around us who came after us were served first, brought refills etc. We had to finally just get up and go to the cash register and ask to pay. We are not alone in this, check other reviews. This is disappointing. We will not ever return.
