Pechuga con calabasa is definitely the plate to try, such an amazing dish! Abuelos has such a beautiful atmosphere, perfect for a date night or family get together. The staff is sweet and always so accommodating:) One of my all time fav restaurants in Amarillo. Definitely a MUST TRY!!!

This was a delightful meal. They bring a selection of 3 salsas with the tortillas and each of them tasted delicious! The service and food were both excellent, and the El Jeffe margarita was fantastic! Smooth, generous and delicious. Vegetarian options: I had the delicious vegetarian Chile Rellenos platter. The waiter made sure to get my preferences about every aspect of the meal, offering multiple topping sauce options.

Not sure which , the chicken with different sauce mix inside the tortilla or the green chili sauce on top of my enchilada were super salty queso tasted like it was from a can for $23.50 you would think the beef fajitas would be tender flour tortillas were warmed up by microwave and put into a foil bag that when it got to the table it was not even warmed up right but still had to fight to get them out of the bag cause they stuck to the inside due to the moisture for 2 people we ended up paying almost $80 without tip! But since the service was great and the drinks were good we did leave a tip....not their fault the food was not authentic Mexican food. Oh yeah the music

The best Mexican food I ve had in a long time. Everything was fresh and really nicely laid out on the plate. The place is beautiful inside. John, our waiter, went the extra mile and made it an unforgettable stop to our trip - when he saw how I absolutely demolished their spiciest salsa, he offered to put some in a to-go cup for us to take. Thank you John!!! And thank you, Abuelo s. Ive never eaten here and been happy about it. The food is random at best. Theres a chance they just go to groceries stores around town and just pick out food, which is weird considering its a chain. Every time we getting food though its different. Even whenever both me and my wife order the same thing. We got two types of flour tortillas none of them fresh. Mine looked like the tiny tortillas you get from hello fresh orders while my wifes was a reheated large tortilla that they just ripped in half. Also both times I last ate here the food took over an hour. I didnt care the time before because we were a big group but this time there was only one other family eating there and we had just two of the same thing. Its also crazy pricey and they definitely had a blind person install the toilets. Im all for diversity but unless you have mastered the art of urinating out of your belly button one toilet is out of question.

I came in again Sunday after Church. The Steak Fajita Chimichanga, which is what I always get. Was much smaller than usual. Usually it is a good sized portion... I dont know who was cooking this last Sunday? But they were very stingy... Almost no Queso at all on my Chimichanga... So I asked the waitress to ask the cook for a little more queso. She came back with a little silver sauce cup. Then she said the Cook has said that if I needed anymore he would have to charge me $4.75 for a side of queso... Very Rude!!! The waitress was so nice about it, but the Cook was very stingy and rude!!! Im still kinda angry... I payed 38.00 approximately. For a small Chimichanga with very little meat filling. Almost no queso sauce (which is supposed to come on it!) and a small side of guacamole, and a sweet tea... Im usually so satisfied here. It will be a long time before I give yall another chance... What an awful disappointment... The Parking Lot was also just filthy!!! Trash and disposable gloves all over the place. Pretty clean inside. But outside its like walking through the Amarillo City Dump!!! Vegetarian options: I think they have some Veggie options... Dietary restrictions: Not sure about dietary restrictions? Excellent food! Great flavors and it tastes like real authentic Mexican food not just someplace trying to be a Mexican restaurant. House margaritas are some of the best Ive ever had. The service was impeccable. Our server Kamaria was wonderful, polite, fun to talk to and very helpful. Leave room for the cheesecake! I think the The Cheesecake Factory could learn something from Abuelos. Sinful is probably the best word to describe it, simply amazing!!! We didnt have any wait to be seated even though we went to eat at around 7pm and the restaurant was busy. Well worth the time and expense, which were both very reasonable. Dietary restrictions: Good gluten free options too.

Its one of our favorite chain restaurants. The Amarillo location was exceptional. We are not big eaters, so we split the nachos with steak. Delicious. We love Margaritas, and this Abuelos margaritas are great. We split the grande house rita. But the best part was the service. I think our server was named Julian. He was training a new server, yet he was so attentive. Dietary restrictions: I also ordered a cup of tortilla soup. It was too spicy for me. Thought I mention to let others know that are sensitive to spicy foods.

Abuelos is one of our favorite Mexican food restaurants! Theres such a variety to choose from and the food is reasonably priced. We usually go for supper, but decided to go for lunch. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and my husband the Durango burrito. Both were excellent! Parking: Lunch was no problem, however if you ever come on the weekend for dinner, you may have to drive around for parking. Quite popular!

This place has a nice Mexcan feel to it. We ordered the fajita combo, chicken/beef which arrived sizzling hot and delicious. The serving was generous with us taking some back to our hotel for later. Worst service and food I have ever had. We went on Saturday around 3pm and noticed there wasnt too many cars, since it was my first time there i was very excited, but for 2 people our food took 30 minutes to get to our table. Very established place here in Amarillo. It has been in business for a very long time. The service is always up to par. No matter how new or fresh the employees are. The food is Bussin ! I just have to brag, our waitress Kamarie was wonderful! She gave us refills when we needed it, made sure we would good on our chips and salsa, but she was one of those good waitress that didn t over due anything or overstepped! She made us feel very welcomed. I also had some amazing conversations with her when she would come and check in. The food was just wonderful! We were a party of 4 from Chicago. It has a nice environment and friendly host and waiter. At first we felt weird because of the ugly looks my daughter was getting for having her knee scooter due to her broken foot. I told her to ignore and let s enjoy the night. Beans were good, rice was good and a mashed potato that came with my plate. I ordered the pork tenderloin abrigada and it was tooo salty. The chicken enchilada sauce was salty and the pork too. I started to feel an upset stomach. My mom ordered the Reynosa salad with beef which I did not see much of and was more lettuce and poor on meat. The salsas with the chips were not great. The green one was more watery and one red one tasted more like ketchup. Sorry to say but if you re looking for real authentic Mexican, this is not it. I was fooled by other reviews. I had higher expectations closer to Mexico. I think we have more authentic Mexican food in Chicago.

Highly recommend! Looking for a restaurant and the first we went to had a menu that didnt seem appealing and had hardly any customers on a Saturday night. This place was busy! The parking lot was packed. We had only a 10 min wait and we were notified by text that our table was ready. The food is delicious! We ordered the two person fajita plate for the three of us and it was enough. The corn tortillas must be homemade. The waiter was ideal. The decor is beautiful: arches and murals throughout the restaurant. We will come again if passing through Amarillo.

The waiter was amazing super nice and checked up on us but the chair was dirty when we got our table, there was a broom on the floor next to us and dirty dishes on table and the food was terrible. Definitely not what we expected or for it to be $64 i would go to mcdonalds. Even my sons french fries seemed like they were the bottom of the fryer. I didnt know you could mess up french fries. I got the grande which comes with three different enchiladas(great), a crispy taco(great), a tamale, a cheese chile rellano which tasted really good. It also had rice and beans. This dish is big enough to be shared by two people. The different salsas go well with the chips too. The habanero salsa was the one I enjoyed the most. Mango tea lemonade is good as well. I called from Dallas and asked for help setting up a party for my parents anniversary. Every staff member was so great to my family and helped us set up a table for 30 and continued to add more and more seats when we needed help. They even helped us serve a cake we brought in. Yes it was a Wednesday but this place is normally very busy at lunch and they went out of the way to accommodate our party of 10. Great food and service. Made the day we buried my Mom just a little bit better! Thank you!!

Once it was one of the best places in Amarillo had become a slight step above Panchos. Very limited menu. Salsa/hot sauce is a joke, and the food is bland. Service at this location is horrible. I hope they find their way back.

One of my wife s favorite places to go. We went this time before going to the movies. We got queso, shared a combination fajitas for one, and then had a snack at the movies. It was perfect! Soft, juicy chicken and beef on their homemade tortillas with crispy chips and delicious queso was just the ticket.

Ive always been impressed with this Abuelos, but my last visit has forced me to reconsider my views on this place. The service was slow and didnt get our order right. The food was just not tasty, my steak was not cooked the way I ordered it, my shrimp were burnt to a crisp on the bottom and the papas tasted sour. At least the drinks were still spot on and good. I believe I will avoid this place for a long time.

Really good. Im a trucker and was broken down in Amarillo. It was close to the motel, so I went there - a bit underdressed - but was still treated decently. Im sure they knew what I was since its in a repair area. Kid-friendliness: There were kids abound.
