We stayed 1 night on our way home from Colorado. Everything from all the staff at the hotel, our room, comfort of the bed, room quality and decor was excellent! This was an anniversary trip and the hotel left a Happy Anniversary note in our room with some chocolates. We ate at the restaurant, Toscano Italian Steakhouse and the service was excellent and so was the food! We ate breakfast there also and again our server was awesome and so was the food. We will definitely go back when we are traveling to or through Amarillo again! The hotel and restaurant are both beautiful! You wont be disappointed!

We spent one night here on a road trip. What a pleasant surprise! The staff is so thoughtful and kind even giving brisket jerky treats to our puppy. The historic hotel is beautifully designed! The rooms are perfection. I am a retired flight attendant of 28 years, so Ive seen my share of hotel rooms and this one was gorgeous.

My husband and I come to Amarillo a few times a year. After one stay at the Barfield, I think we ll be staying here from now on. The rooms are much cleaner than other nearby hotels. The service from Valerie at the bar was great! She quickly gave my husband club soda to prevent a stain on his new shirt. Her dirty martini was excellent too! The only down side is having to use valet and there not being adequate space to unload your vehicle. Nevertheless we will definitely be back! Rooms: Well appointed finishings. Clean bathrooms. Walkability: Easily walk out to a plethora of dining and drink options.

Very nice, clean hotel. We used to stay at the Embassy Suites but this seems to be the better option for nicer hotels in Amarillo The bar has excellent drinks and service. Valerie makes fantastic drinks and did a great job of taking care of us. We had a great time at the hotel bar before heading off to the rodeo.

Cool historic building, nice to finally see the place not vacant. Nearby activities: Lots of restaurants and night life activities within walking distance. Walkability: The area has decent sidewalks but the crosswalks are lacking, even the brand new crosswalks constructed for the Polk St improvement project lack basic pedestrian infrastructure like curb extensions.

We havent left yet but i couldnt wait to write a review! A beautiful hotel! Service begins at the curb with valet service helping with luggage. Check-in was a breeze with a friendly (Lauren?) helpful clerk. Rooms: Gorgeous, spacious. Comfortable beds and huge bathroom. The decor is elegant and the blackout shades insure a peaceful sleep. If I have to find fault it would be the lack of an ice machine on the floor and luggage rack in the room but our clerk remedied both in minutes. Highly recommend this Texas gem!

I was denied service in the bar because of my dog. This is listed as a pet friendly hotel. It is NOT. Do not stay here. The manager was very rude to me as well. The manager cowed down to and was controlled by some man in the bar with a shirt on that had DUNINA and a logo as well. The bully at the bar is in the hat. The coward in the hat bullied my wife until she left in tears. I guess he likes to bully women. The other person, who said he was the manager, denied me service after pressure from the bully. I was not raising my voice or making a scene.

Been to this location a few times in the past. Good food and service from the bar. The speakeasy is nice. Hosted an event here this week, so I decided to book a room as well. The room was cozy but ended up wasting my Marriott room upgrade as it was accepted by the Barfield but the room I was given was a standard room. As for the event, the ballroom and Derringer rooms were fantastic. Fantastic service from the staff and Chloe was outstanding to coordinate with. The wasted Marriott room upgrade was the only downside of this trip.

Not worth the price! Arrived at 4.20pm and was informed the room isn t ready so we have to wait for another 30m. They seemed to think it s normal, not apologetic. No parking. Only vallet parking which they charged 20$ for it.. And we had to wait 30m to get the cart to be able to load luggage downstairs. They got confused with which car belong to which guests, mishandle the car keys. No free internet, even in my booking it s said it has. They charge 10$ for it. No breakfast included. No microwave or kettle in the room. So you will need to ask for hot water. But the front desk line was always busy so you will need to go downstairs to get hot water yourself. No ice maker either. There s tiny fridge in the room full of their drinks. So there s no room for your stuffs in case you need. Totally not worth the price. Bad experience.

Great hotel in the middle of downtown Amarillo. We had a premiere suite, and while somewhat pricey, for us, it was worth it. The premiere suite has a separate living room, a large dining table, two bathrooms (one of which is a powder room), and a very comfortable bed in the large bedroom. The decor is modern, but comfortable with southwest colors and best of all, every piece of furniture is comfortable. After a long day of sightseeing, we decided to order room service for dinner one night and not only was the service quick, the food was DELICIOUS (and very fairly priced). Amarillo has a lot of hotels at varying price points, but I promise you that you won t find a nicer hotel than The Barfield. You will love everything about this place. Highly recommend.

I m writing this review as I stay at the Barfield for the 6th time. The place has a great look to it, appearance wise it is up to the autograph collection standards. But for what is supposed to be one of the nicest hotels in Amarillo, staying here is a terrible experience. The showers - every single room the water doesn t get to a hot temperature, just luke warm at best. It wouldn t be so bad if the shower fixtures didn t restrict the water flow so that the little water spitting on you isn t enough to make the shower warm. Every time I am shivering as soon as I turn the luke warm drizzle off. The restaurant downstairs is awful, think mediocre bar food level that tries to serve food as high class as the architecture and decor look. Breakfast staff and food are especially bad. You re better off at the courtyard just down the road or one of the other hotels along the main thoroughfare. The pillows are so cheap, like they use full size pillows from Kmart for every size bed Rooms: Impossible to get a decent night of rest when the thermostat doesn t do what it s set to do and bedding is a bargain basement purchase

Great Route 66 luxury hotel in downtown Amarillo. I was given a top floor room facing north, with views of downtown and well past the edge of Amarillo into the Texas Panhandle. Service was impeccable and the near-central location was convenient. The aesthetic screamed old-time Texas ranch (think XIT), which I thoroughly enjoyed. Id been wanting to stay at the Barfield for over a year and I definitely do not regret finally making that stay.

We stayed two nights after leaving a 3 week stay in New Mexico; on way back to Tennessee. Got to the hotel and we re immediately greeted outside by valet. They helped load up our cart and trust me we had a lot of baggage traveling with 2 dogs. I believe her name was Kim who checked us in and took care of us at the front desk she was tentative to our needs. Debra helped us to our room and was so sweet and she loved our dogs. We had a wonderful time staying at the hotel met some really nice travelers at the bar and swapped stories. The bartenders made some tasty cocktails and the food was delicious. We walked around several of the blocks around the hotel and the pups loved it. Several small parks and grassy areas very close to the hotel. Our stays was relaxing and just what we needed before hitting the long road home. We hope to return in the future.

Nice hotel, well designed, quiet and cool rooms. My only complaint was when rooms would be ready. We did finally get a room before 3pm but only after some confusion. At that time there were supposedly still no rooms ready and it was unclear when they would be ready. But in fact a room had been assigned to me and indeed it was ready. The building had a historic Amarillo past and the current owners did a good job presenting and adapting to todays needs. Historically there was a speakeasy in the basement. So they put in a modern speakeasy. We ate brunch at the restaurant before we departed and the food was most excellent.

What a beautiful hotel! The attention to detail throughout the hotel is impressive. I love the homage paid to the original build and time period. The service was fantastic as was our meal at Toscana. This hotel will bring me back to Amarillo. Rooms

It s just all all around don t stay . We ve been here now 6 days and have one more and it s just gotten progressively worse. We wanted so badly to love this hotel but the constant issues leaving you upset and just wanting more. Day one our room was still unmade at 6pm - mind you we had been out of the room since 7am we then got moved to another room as housekeeping still hadn t come by within 30 minutes and that room the shower was clogged and not draining. Everything is dirty, everything. Dusty furniture, water spots all over the glass in bathrooms. Just feels so dirty. Laundry service on the sheet claims they do laundry Monday - Saturday yet today when we brought down our laundry (we ve been doing laundry daily as we are in town for a sporting event) they claim they in fact don t do anything Saturdays. Just would have been nice to know and when it s printed on the sheet we ve been using all week it s definitely misleading. The only pro is the restaurant, the food and service really is fabulous and I would absolutely recommend it 100x over. In all for the price it is not worth it nor is it like any other Autograph Collection Marriott properties we ve been to. I HATE writing negative reviews, I m a Google local guide and try my best to never post negatively (see other reviews) but I just can t help it on this one.

They oversold their rooms and left us stranded, just said good luck finding a place to stay. We booked this $376 hotel room 10 days in advance for a trip we were taking with our two dogs. We got there around midnight to find out they had overbooked the hotel. We were left searching for a dog friendly hotel and had to drive an additional 45 minutes to get to a place. The staff was no help, offered no solutions, just left us stranded on a holiday weekend. This was a horrible experience,

The amenities and accommodations are plush and absolutely spot on. Fantastic food and drink. Top shelf level comfort and hospitality. I could not be more pleased. This is the slice of Amarillo I ve been missing. Thank you for everything.

Booked the Barfield because of the reviews and wanted to spend quality time there with my daughter while planning her wedding. On arrival to the room, noted trash left in the trash can in the room. Came in from day 3 late afternoon to find toilet seat up and the whole role of paper in the toilet. Dirty wash cloths in the sink counter. Called front desk as did not want to flush or pullout paper. They sent maintenance who asked whether they offered to have me change rooms. No, he did not. Maintenance gentleman was great. He called and got a change of room and even went down to get new keys. At checkout, when asked about stay, my reply was just ok. That response was obviously ok for them as no other questions were asked. On retrieval of truck from valet, noted business cards inserted in my windows advertising services. No how was your stay survey sent either. I will not be staying there again, nor will I recommend staying there either to anyone who asks. Follow up with your guests and ease their minds about what is going on in your rooms with your employees. Are the vehicles in valet service being monitored?

This is my favorite hotel in Amarillo. It s a new hotel created in an older historic hotel. It is decorated in a way that reflects the places and lifestyle of the Texas Panhandle, Also, a speakeasy has opened in the basement, and in the summer they have music on the second floor rooftop patio. The rooms are very nice, great beds, seating and nice bathrooms with showers.

Awesome experience! We arrived late on a Friday night around 11pm. We pulled up to the valet and a gentleman (unfortunately I don t remember his name) greeted us and set us up for check in. We got all checked in and up to our room just to realize we forgot something in the car. When I went down the valet gentleman was more than happy to go run back to my car and grab what I forgot and not only that but bring it up to our room. I insisted on me going to get it but he went above and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. After just a few minutes I got a knock on my door to my item I forgot and not only that but he also grabbed our jackets cause it was chilly and my water tumbler! Wow! I can t say enough about how polite and nice all the staff was. It was a breath of fresh air versus many other places I ve visited. Secondly, the hotel is absolutely beautiful! It has an early 1900 s theme with a modern feel. Everything is clean and the rooms are tidy and spacious. Last but not least, the speakeasy is an absolute must. Super cool experience and don t forget to ask about the history of the building and the speakeasy. I have family in Amarillo and visit every now and then, next time we visit The Barfield will be our place to stay!

We had so much fun at Barfield Autograph, thank you! Each day filled us with pleasant surprises, but our last day was our favorite! On our way to check out we spoke with Chad from valet and asked if he could give us a short tour. Chad drove us to murals, enjoyed taking selfies WITH us, took us to the baseball field and then snuck us into the speakeasy.

We stayed at the Barfield Amarillo on our road trip to California and had an incredible experience! The hotel was beautifully decorated and the rooms were very spacious. Angie ensured the public areas were always pristine. There were a lot of food/bar options and the mini bar was stacked. What really made the stay over the top, however, was the staff! Everyone was so welcoming, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed for our short stay. Extra shout out to Chad for being so wonderful and helpful!! We were so sad to leave!!

The room and decor were beautiful but the staff was curt and disrespectful. My room had no coffee for the coffee maker and the shampoo bottle was empty in the shower. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was wonderful but the breakfast was disappointing and very ordinary. I would stay here again but the staff needs to be trained better, from the housekeepers to the front desk, to the hostess at the restaurant.

Perfect readaptation of a classic hotel. Autographs specialty is to make each property unique and fitting to its locale and The Barfield is a perfect example of this concept done right. The rooms and lobby decor are a perfect mix of rustic Texas chic and makes you feel right at home. The restaurant is excellent making dining in feel like a treat versus just settling for, hotel food. Staff across the board were friendly and accommodating... five stars. Ill definitely be staying here again next time Im in town.
