We arrived at a very busy time. We waited @10min to be seated. Service was great. We both ordered chicken fried steaks, and both were great. The Jalapeno Chicken Fried Steak is a great choice for those who like a little spice.

This is a good place to get a steak. They are a little busy on the weekends so you will have to wait awhile. the steaks are thick and cooked the way you order them. the chicken fried steak is very tinder and you pick the gravy you want. (try the green chili or the jalapeño). Prices are not cheap but you do get a good steak. Only downfall is there is very limited seating and all the tables are in one open area which makes it kinda load.

Delicious food! I had a house salad, green beans & green chili chicken fried chicken. My husband had fries, fried okra, and green chili chicken fried steak. Everything was wonderful! Staff was friendly. Service was quick. We will definitely eat here again. Parking: Large parking lot with plenty of spaces.

My family and I just ate here and it was nasty to say the least. When we pulled into the parking lot the cook was outside smoking. I didn t see him not once wash his hands. All of the servers were walking around texting. Not once did I see anyone wash their hands. In the women s bathroom there was barely any soap to wash our hands before eating and there were not paper towels to dry our hands. Food was over cooked. Hard okra, over cooked meat on the burgers, cheese on the kids grilled cheese was almost rock hard. We all maybe took 2/3 bites and we were done because it was not appetizing! Then we paid $60. As we were leaving the cook was back outside smoking. we will not be returning.

This is a Texas Panhandle Treasure and a MUST stop if you are in Amarillo. I have eaten at numerous steakhouses in Texas and across the country, but nothing beats this place. The food is Delicious, the steaks are perfectly cooked, the side items are amazing, and the desserts are outstanding. The service is fabulous! KUDOS to Jennifer who waited on me on 7.12.2024. I will definitely eat here again and I Highly appreciate this place.

OmGGG! This is one of those gems one hopes to find tucked away somewhere along lifes journeys. The food, off the charts folks!!! Their prices, unbelievable in this day of $20 minimum for one person. I had the Jimmies Sampler, which is 3 small chicken fried steaks... yes, THREE of em, all fixed a bit differently. The price was a mere $11! With the ample sides included, it was enough to fill 2 of us. Their pinto beans... WOW! The green beans, Heavenly!!! In fact, Ive never tasted green beans quite like Green Chili Willys... they simply MUST be experienced, I dont have the vocabulary to describe em. I could have eaten a monster bowl of those alone... theyre that good! The atmosphere, awesome as well. Fast service, superrr sweet and friendly staff, its the total package folks! If something sweet is on your agenda, give the FRIED PECAN PIE a try... yes, they went there! Talk about sprinkles on an already perfect meal... Stop on by, go out of your way if you have to, I promise you wont be disappointed. The only issue I had was seeing a young male cook with a cell phone in his hand while in the kitchen. If he had any idea what all is on that thing... from ecoli to, well, you can imagine since they go everywhere, including the bathroom. Other than that, this was a stellar experience. -¼ for the cooks lack of cooth.

This is a genuine Texas treasure of the Amarillo area. They do not sell hoity toity overpriced portions, just good hearty well prepared large portion meals served quickly and with consistent quality. You will always find local blue collar guests or local farmer or rancher types. If you want genuine Texas panhandle atmosphere come here. If you want a tourist version of a Texas meal go instead to the Big Texan and get served by clueless teenagers. They dont tolerate bad manners or foul language here, and service is always fast and courteous.

We hit Green Chile Willys last night for dinner. This place was packed. Chris had the Green Chili Chicken Fried Steak dinner with extra green chilies, French fries, okra and a side salad. I opted for the beef tips over mashed potatoes, topped with au jus, caramelized onions and a side of okra. Shontelle was amazing and never let our drinks run dry. Dinner was absolutely delicious.

Waited about an hour or so to be seated. It was just me and my granddaughter. We ordered our food, waitress wasn t very friendly, she took our order and when she brought our food she didn t ask if we needed anything else and didn t check on us until we were done. That was the first time I ever been there and have been wanting to try it for a while. The waitress ruined it for me. And my food was warm but my granddaughters food was way too hot for to even pickup(chicken strips).

Came here for the CFS, but was disappointed. Two of us had the sampler, the regular gravy looked and tasted as if watered down to stretch for the rest of the night. The green chili and jalapeño samples were a little better, but best? The best thing I had was the Mac and Cheese with green chili, I could have made a meal of that. Fried okra and onion rings are OK. The peach cobbler was meh. Kid-friendliness: Kid menu, and coloring menu with games.

They Care !!!!! Every time we go there to eat, we are never disappointed....this doesnt mean that every time its perfect.( But if there is an issue and you tell them, then they will make it right with you) I also can tell you Jimmy the owner always stops by to make sure we are 100% happy, If we voice any concerns he is very accommodating to correct the issue( this seldom happens) The wait staff are just as attentive....refills, to go boxes, and extras we may request ( cheese, gravy, bacon bits etc) they are on top of getting these items to us. They never act like we are a bother to them and always give service with a smile. On top of all this, The food is amazing, always cooked to our satisfaction plus soooooo much is served, You will never leave there hungry. Staff was miserable, bus boy was obviously mad at the chairs, took 10 minutes to be acknowledged AFTER being sat, then another 5 minutes to receive our drinks. The BLT was too greasy and chewy to even eat. Some guy came by and asked if everything was ok, but having to sit there another 30 minutes waiting on another order was not worth it. Green Chile Willys offers good country-style cooking. We stop in occasionally for a chicken-fried steak, fried chicken, or a burger. On our most recent visit my partner got the jalapeno chicken-fried steak and I did the chicken-fried chicken. Both had hearty nostalgic flavors, like food grandma used to make. We also shared the fried cheese and it was a nice savory starter. Service is warm and welcoming. Its a great spot to get a taste of the Panhandle. Parking: Parking just north of the building at the main entrance. It can get a little tight when they are busy.

I really enjoyed my meal here !! Table service was friendly and fun. The bacon green chile cheeseburger was incredible !! Thick slices of bacon and whole green chile dressed however you like it with a soft fresh bun and a fresh grilled patty. My belly is growling now just thinking about it. That and those onion rings would have been a perfect meal. I had to try their green chile Mac and cheese and a chicken fried steak too though I was so stuffed !! I m happy our waitress insisted that we try the fried pecan pie too . Wow !! It s not often that I find a restaurant that just seems to do everything right. I will be stopping here every time I visit Amarillo. Delicious !!

I was so excited to eat that I forgot to take a picture.! I had the green chili Willys chicken fried chicken, corn, and mac n cheese. The only thing I can say is that I immediately wanted to plan my next visit! The chicken was so tender and juicy, loaded with green chili flavor! I loved it! The sides were equally delicious. I need more! But Ill have to wait until I visit Amarillo again. So good!!!

Would give no stars if that was an option. My wife was denied service because she would not put her 10 lb service dog on the floor.The dog has been in this business before and set beside her on the seat, he was not even known to be there by the waitress until we was leaving the time we was there before. This time the woman that was working the door refused to let us in with him at first asking after told he was a service dog if he really was. We will NEVER be back to this business.

I am somewhat of a food nut,I drive 2.5hrs once a month to eat with friends. Recently we lost one of my favorite places to eat and I have been wanting to dine at Green Chili Willies. So me and a couple friends headed over to GCW,wow...let me tell tell you. The place was packed and we were seated as soon as we walked in the door. Service was very fast and the atmosphere was nice. I was surprised at the menu choices,I wasnt expecting all the wonderful choices. I ordered steak,okra and fries. The food was cooked to perfection and had such a great flavor. Normally steak like that is served at high end restaurants with inflated prices. GCW has combined everything I love about eating out when I am on the road. I still cant get over how perfect my order was and I had plenty left over for dinner.The owner even came over and spoke with us over at our table. With food like this I recommend it all!!! Thank you GCW,I now have a new place to eat when I am in town,makes the 2.5hr drive seem like a few miles. Thanks,Rob

So I have been wanting to go here for a long time but every time I go theyre packed and so I didnt even go in well it just so happens that a friend of mine her family owns the place and we went in there and I finally got to eat I highly highly recommend it some of the most amazing food I highly recommend the chicken fried steak with the jalapeno gravy.

Wow, what a gem!! This place has amazing food! There were 4 of us eating and everyone thought their food was delicious. The green chili mac was probably the best mac I have ever had. The steak I had was perfect. My wife had a burger that I tasted and it was damn good. We are planning to go back again while we are in town. We heard that the chicken fried steak is the star of the show. We also shared the peach cobbler that was good but the fried pecan pie was ridiculously good. All agreed.

When there s a restaurant around with a name like Green Chili Willies and you re visiting from out of town, how you gonna pass up dinner at a place like this? I had the house special ribeye. My wife had the sirloin tips. Both were very good. Nice sear on the steak. Cat was our waitress and she was phenomenal. No exaggeration. She saw me drinking my tea and noticed that my glass was half full WHILE I WAS MID DRINK, grabbed the pitcher and topped me off. After a disappointing steak dinner at the Canyon Steak Company, it was good to have a do-over before going home tomorrow. Can t recommend enough.
