The food was good, the restaurant was nice, it was not too busy, but it was only a Monday. I just wish they had kids meals. $10 per kid is too much for most families; the meal only had a drink, fries, and chicken tenders. Overall, good but I probably cannot afford to come back.

When you place a to go order and you go to pick it up and its not there and they have to remake it it sucks. They said it was probably stolen from the pick up rack and they do not check to see who is taking what food so they are allowing people to come in and take food that you have paid for and they have not paid for anything.

It really reminds me of the original Portillos in downtown Chicago, but this one is not as crowded. Today, I got the Maxwell Street Polish dog. It was charred and crispy on the ends. It could have benefited from a bit more mustard, but it was really good - I mean REALLY good! I like to get a side of cheddar for the fries, and it always lasts for all the fries. I want to try to get back in there to try to caramel spice cake before its gone. Parking: Ive never had an issue with parking. Wheelchair accessibility: It isnt a slid open door but it is wide enough for someone with a wheelchair to walk through. There is plenty of parking for someone in a wheelchair.

Fabulous Italian beef*, excellent friendly service**, and very clean restaurant - even on Labor Day at 9:30pm! And, you have the greatest music playlist ever compiled! * And we re from Chicago, so believe me, we know how good Italian beef is supposed to taste. ** Locally, we thought HEB set the standard for well-trained and friendly employees, but Portillo s even outdoes HEB by a mile. How do you get them to give such genuine welcoming smiles?!

Juiciest burger in town. We always get a #3. Mine is a single and I can never finish it, but my 17 yearold finishes mine, eats his double plus a chilli dog. My 11 yo has the #3 single w medium fries. My husband has the #3 double w onion rings. Meaning the portions are pretty large for an excellent price. Chicken fingers and fries are perfectly crispy. Shakes are very thick. Bathrooms are clean. Do ask for a cheese dip for your fries and onionrings. Just trust me. You get a free chocolate cake slice on your birthday!! Kid-friendliness: My kids love it here.

The establishments reputation appears to be overstated based on my personal experience. Despite positive recommendations from individuals from the northern region regarding the quality of the food, particularly the chocolate cake, my assessment is more reserved. The service provided was commendable, and the waiting time was minimal. I opted for the dip sandwich, which I would rate as satisfactory, assigning it a score of 6 out of 10. The sandwich was adequately cooked, but the dip lacked sufficient seasoning. Adding peppers to the sandwich enhanced its flavor. However, I found the overall experience comparable to that of a Subway sandwich. The chocolate cake, while moist, did not live up to the hype surrounding it. It reminded me of a Texas sheet cake in terms of texture and taste. Despite my initial reservations, I am willing to revisit the establishment to sample their hotdogs, as they may offer a more favorable culinary experience.

Nice location compared to others. They are a little better here with fountain drinks that you can refill yourself. They have slightly quicker wait times for food. The bathroom has paper towels, whereas the Colony location has none leaving you with grease all over your face. At the Colony, you have to wait 20 min until food is ready to get your soft drink and stand in line for a refill, so Im glad this location has a self serve option it makes a big difference on overall experience. So much better overall. I dod, however, find a small family owned place for dogs in Frisco that I enjoy much more, so Ill typically go there.

I have loved Portillos since I was a kid in Illinois. They always had the best hot dogs and chocolate cakes. As an adult, its exciting to see the business expand to North Texas. Although I cannot eat all the food anymore due to dietary restrictions, I still love the big beef, the Chicago Dog, and their fries. My family loves the italian beef sandwiches with mozarella, and they try a lot of the desserts - spoiler: they love ALL of the cakes. Friends and family have told me they love the shakes, but they are too sweet to finish. The Allen location has a train theme that is directly related to the citys founding. They did their research and designed this location with the city of Allen in mind. It makes for an entertaining atmosphere for folks that love history or trains, or those that can appreciate the thought behind it. The staff are friendly and helpful, at this location, there is one standout employee who is very upbeat, keeps high energy, and is always smiling, and plenty of others who are also friendly and quick to help you. Seating options include regular restaurant table and chairs as well and booths. The restaurant and the bathrooms are kept clean. Plenty of free parking. Drive-thru is fast, though if you do opt for drive-thru, it is a cash-less system, so bring your card! If you have multiple cards from different technology eras like me (I.e. plain plastic card with mag strip, card with a chip, or card with tap and pay), try to bring one with the tap and pay option. It speeds things up. Dietary restrictions: Allergen menu available online that I use to guide my ordering. Parking: Tons of free parking around the building - several rows at the front and a long row along the side. Handicap spots up front. During busy times it may be hard to find a spot though, as that lot gets PACKED.

I absolutely love this place as we used to get it all the time in Tempe where we used to live. My only disappointment when going through the drive through today is seeing a young girl in 105° temperature taking my food order. I was the only person in line and it is 5 PM. There is no need for someone to be sitting out there in this hot temperature and I would gladly wait if there was a line so no person would have to sit out there in this heat like this to take my order, please tell management to do something about this. If this was my child, I would remove her from this position immediately.

First time trying this place and we were not disappointed! We ordered a mega Italian beef sandwich. Wished it had a tad more salt, but overall, it had good flavor. We got both sweet and spicy peppers and they were hot! But worth it. The kiddos had a cheeseburger and it reminded me of Burger King. The Chicago dog was good, though I wished it was a tad more grilled. The kiddos finally got that chocolate cake shake and that was yummy. Though it was a lot (quite rich) so order your size accordingly. The restaurant was huge with plenty of tables. I know it can get quite busy at certain times. Will be back to try other items on the menu.

We grew up in Chicago and loved that Portillo s came out here but this isn t the same Portillos we grew up on. We love Portillos. This place just isn t the same. First off, the atmosphere is lacking. It just doesn t feel like Portillos when you walk in. We wanted a great portillo s chocolate cake shake and was left wildly disappointed. It was a chocolate shake with little specs of cake. Those who know the Portillos chocolate cake shake, it s a thicc boy with big chunks of chocolate cake. They said they just blend it really well. I say there is no way you can blend a true Portillo s chocolate cake shake to be this smooth. I want chunks of cake in my shake or I would have just ordered a chocolate shake instead. This wasn t it. So sad.

Mixed feelings on this place. Food is great. Service is ... well its fast. But everyone seems stuck into the process and has no need to actually look at a customer or engage with you. Might as well have automated kiosks. And the atmosphere is decent but the wide open ceiling causes sound to echo and add the music they have playing at just a bit too loud and you get a bit of chaos for the ears. Not a relaxing or peaceful eating experience. Kind of like come in speak your order to the attendant who never looks at you grab your food off the counter where all the staff have their back to you. Then go sit in the noisy tin cup seating area.

There wasn t nearly enough ice in the iced tea for a summer day in the drive thru. The employees expressed how hot they were, I don t blame them it s like 1 billion degrees, seems like maybe just run the speaker and the window when it s this hot out. But, during a day with my entire family (a rare gift) and because we visited Portillos in Chicago and had so much fun, for the sake of family and nostalgia, I agreed to go. I have to tell you, the garden dog was not just a delicious plant-based hot dog. It was a delicious hot dog! I, even though I dont usually enjoy hot dogs, enjoyed it very much. Throw in the charming retro decor and the blessing of family time and I call it a definite win. Vegetarian options: The plant-based garden dog is delicious!

Awesome food! I am originally from Chicago, and this is truly a taste of home, and their cakes are amazing! So moist, and I love that they taste like a scratch cake...We.come here often for dipped beef combo. Yum!!!

Exciting to find a Chicago tradition in Texas. The Chicago Style Italian Beef is one of a kind. It is not a Phillys cheesesteak or a roast beef sandwich. It is something you have to try and then you will be hooked. Having been to many Chicago area Portillos, this one is no different. The same setup, the same food, and same atmosphere. The food is just as good.

We went through the drive thru, and waited a good minute. Everyone that came behind us with larger orders got their food before we did. They finally brings us our two drinks and the ice was melted from sitting so long. The hot dogs, and burgers were not hot. The fries were over salted and the tea was nasty. The location in The Colony was really good so we thought wed try it again. I guess each location us different. Both times were on Saturdays.

Chicago local here. Portillo s was originally started by Richard J. Portillo in chicago IL and quickly became legendary in the Chicagoland area. Nowadays, it s built into the Chicagoland food culture and it s famous, people know if you go to Chicago this is a must try place. Now they ve been opening it elsewhere as he s since sold the company to a large corporation, and I think that s great as long as they can maintain those standards he s set. In Illinois, one of the things they re most famous for is how quickly their staff can get cars through the drive thru. My experience here was anything but. Very slow staff that didn t look like they understood the legacy that is Portillo s, that moved slowly and spoke slowly and everything about them was otherwise slow. We need to see some Portillo s speed here! You re representing a true legend, and you carry that name and therefore you should be proud of what you do and work with the energy to show that! How you do anything is how you do everything! As far as the food, it was pretty solid. I had to explain to the worker the difference between hot peppers and sport peppers, which I feel like management should have done a better job of during training. My big beef turned out pretty solid, could use some more flavor and more sport peppers when I asked for sport peppers but all in all I m not disappointed. I d like to see them improve on those few things though, will update this review if I notice changes!

Yea, we finally got one. The location in The Colony opened long ago but the crowds were overwhelming. So we waited it out and went to this location instead. Good choice. Fun decor and menu. Fast service and good food. We got the hot dogs of course. Next time need to try the beef sandwiches.

First time we went through drive thru and we loved the food. This evening was terrible. The sandwich were dripping in water. Trash cans were over flowing to were we had to ask to empty it but no one did. No ice in the ice machines. Food is a bit on the expensive side for what we got tonight. One star cause the fries were ok.

Our first time to Portillos was an experience. When you drive up, the building is large and inviting. When you step inside, the atmosphere is probably one of the better atmospheres of any restaurant we have visited. The service was good as the cashier could clearly tell it was our first time and answered our questions. The beef sandwich was very good, but as I got closer to finishing it, the bread was so soggy I couldnt eat it. The hot dog was good. The Fries were also cooked and seasoned well. The eclair cake brought back memories. The price was also reasonable. Id definitely recommend stopping by Portillos at least once. For us, it was good, not great.

Theres a wonderful woman up there by the name Ronei (I believe thats how I saw it on her name tag) but she was the only woman working from what I seen through the windows! It was her only her in the building/back and she managed to still deliver excellence in her customer service. We chose to come here because the Frisco location wasnt the best, and honestly, it was a great choice. Ronei If you see this thank you for bringing up our night! Will be returning!!

WARNING!!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!! This place is EXTREMELY unsanitary! The health dept needs to check this place out! We were there on Friday night around 9:30. There were about 5 end of shift workers standing around the counter where customers pick up their food, they were on the customers side on the counter. The active workers and end of shift workers were throwing food at eachother across the kitchen and feeding eachother. They were cussing and being extremely loud! It took at least 20 minutes before we got our food! There were old burnt burger paties piled up on the conveyer belt, stacked up with flies on them! The workers were putting the nasty paties on buns! It was disgusting! It was so unprofessional! It was one of the most unprofessional eating environments Ive ever witnessed! The workers are very unkept looking, long greasy hair, they dont use hairnets or gloves. They were coughing in their hands and then touching the food! Theres no pride in their work. I complained to the manager, we left our food and got a full refund back. You could tell the manager had no control over the workers. They were doing whatever they wanted to do! This place is nasty and gross!!

First time visiting this restaurant. Very fast service. The food was good. I like how the servers rhymed all the order numbers. Chicken sandwich with cheese fries was hot and tasty. Music was too loud though as it was hard to talk to the person you were dining with. Service was also slow in the dining room. One soda machine was out of ice and the trash cans were overflowing with trash.
