My fiance and I went here after my mom reccomended it. We did not get a chance to try the food because the service was terrible and they didnt even get our drink order. We were not welcomed warmly at alI. I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because I thought they were understaffed and my mom said they were nice, however theres no excuse for taking multiple tables, sitting them done and IMMEDIATELY getting their drink orders while we had been there for over 20 mins without even a warm greeting or asking for our drink order. I am disgusted by the utter lack of hospitality and we will not be back.

I will admit I did not have the opportunity to try the food so I cant review that but the service was absolutely atrocious from the moment we walked in. We could tell they were understaffed as it seemed other patrons were waiting a while for food so we were gracious in our expectations. However theres no excuse for the fact that multiple people were sat after us and served while we were ignored without even our drink order being taken. Other than a cursory welcome from the host while being rushed to a table and rude stares from other employees, we received no attention from staff. We waited well over 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge our table before leaving. I certainly felt a sense of judgement and bias from the moment I walked in that only compounded until I left. Definitely do not recommend and will not return.

If you are on the hunt for a sweet little diner with good ole southern home-style cooking, you have come to the right place! We enjoyed it so much that I almost considered not leaving a review because we don t want to give away the secret of this little hidden gem, but they definitely deserve the recognition! We were seated right away even though we arrived at 10am on a Sunday. While at first glance the waitstaff appears a bit young, do not mistake it for inexperience! As a service industry veteran of 17 years myself, I can confidently say that Fredi took excellent care of us! Menu offers so many choices, and everything we got was hot and delicious. Pancakes were fluffy, bacon was crispy, and the breakfast burritos were the best we have ever had in Allen! Portions were huge too! Everything going out to the tables around us looked incredible as well. We enjoyed breakfast so much that we ordered food to go for later! My only regret is that we got so excited to eat the food that we didn t take any photos for the review. While we also enjoy Allen Cafe down the road, I have no doubt that Mom s is our new favorite go-to spot! We will definitely be back!

The food was not good on this recent visit. Eggs were not seasoned, pancakes were dry and crumbled when picked up with fork. The coffee was weak. I was never offered a coffee refill. I am told there is a new owner. I think they need a new cook. I probably won t return.

Went to grab breakfast with my buddy. They lost our ticket which made it take another 20+ minutes. The sweet tea tasted old and had a mint flavor which wasnt expected and when we got our food the order was all wrong. They gave us a 20% discount for losing our ticket. The staff was nice at least.

New review June 4-8 2024: We walked in, and decore was different. On June 4th, i ordered my favorite Mushroom Swiss Burger. It was an extremely thin patty and was not pure meat. It looked to be mixed with bread crumbs as it was brown and crispy, like a potato pancake gets in hot oil. I thought it was an one off and decided to try it again today June 8th. New owners and under new management. We met the new manager when we walked in. He was on his cell phone, and the place was empty aside from one other table. The manager introduced himself by saying, im the manager, and went back to talking on the cell phone. We were seated. The menu was the same but not the food quality or possibly the ingredients. The manager came and sat with friends at a table next to us. These three friends chatted the whole time we dined. Just before leaving our table, the manager asked his employee, who was busy cleaning the tables. Can you get me a cup of decaf? As he held the empty mug up. It is my opinion that managers should lead by example. He should have gotten up and got his own coffee. But that is just me. But it sure pushes the point home that he feels his employees are beneath him. I can see it translated to the staff already. As all six staff members were at the cashier station leaning on the counter, chatting away. I waited tables in NYC. If you had time to lean, you had time to clean. And clean they need to do. As the floor everywhere you walk is sticky from syrup or something else. It feels dirty. If management, servers, and owners do not fix the issues, then i feel the doors will close shortly. Which is a sad thing in this day and age. It used to be a great place to eat. Old Review:The wife and I stopped in for a quick bite after a year sabbatical. The place is super clean and newly decorated and very warm and welcoming. There are new menu items, and there are still our favorites. The order was not right but was quickly remedied. We chalked it up to the waitress being new, and the cafe was BUSY! The staff is friendly as always. I tried the chicken fried steak breakfast. It was hot and well presented. I was not a fan of the SWEET batter the chicken fried steak was dipped in. ( personal preference). It would be welcomed by those that like a Monte Christo. Overall, it was a wonderful experience today. This was my previous review a year ago..........We have been here over 39 times. Something has changed, the food prep has changed, hash browns and country potatoes have been coming out, not fully cooked and crunchy/raw. I am very cognizant of restaurant cleanliness, and the past 6 times, the bathrooms and floors are always sticky. I have mentioned it to the staff. But it still seems to be overlooked. If I notice it dirty in places that I am allowed to see, it disturbed me as to the cleanliness of the kitchen where I can not see. I hope it changes for the better. I will check back in 6 months. Mom café used to be one of my favorite restaurants when I was living in Carrollton Texas. Not so much here in Allen, Texas. I have been overlooked, missing items on food and charge for the items I didn t receive. I was very happy when one of the attendance which is probably an owner, came to ask me if I needed anything or am I waiting on an order. I give her a A+ the other attendant did not acknowledge me in anyway that is not a good feeling when you re a customer.

Came in for a special treat, waited 40 minutes for 3 orders of pancakes, was told after waiting they screwed our order up and it would be an additional 20 minutes. Didn t even offer a cup of coffee for the mix up. Manager didn t come to table to address issues but rather I had to seek manager out. Honestly got the vibe when we got here our business wasn t wanted or welcome as we didn t look like most of the other diners. No resolution was offered left hungry. Let me start this off by saying that I hardly ever have an experience at a diner where I leave the highest ratings. At first glance, I wasnt very intrigued, just a basic exterior, nothing special. But then I walked in and my attitude about the place instantly changed. The interior was impressive, all the tables had flowers, the dining area was very clean and I felt at home the second I walked through the door. I was instantly greeted with a warm welcome and a smile from the hostess and instantly sat at a table. The server came to me with an amazing attitude and at that point I felt confident that I wouldnt experience any problems. It didnt take long after I ordered for the food to be delivered and let me just say, I was not disappointed. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was delicious. So full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The server constantly came to check up on me and was friendly the whole time I was there. I give them props for being super attentive even though it was busy. In short, the interior was homey, the service was amazing and the food was incredible. I would say that this little cafe deserves 5 stars.

Still says new owners. My friend ordered an old fashioned cheeseburger. Server brought bacon cheeseburger. My friend didnt notice until they had eaten some. Had a chance to check this place out on a Saturday at lunch and I wasn t disappointed. Alex our server was great and recommended the Chicken Cowboy to me. It was their chicken fried chicken on an open faced biscuit with gravy, eggs, and gravy. Was it the best I ve ever had? No. Was it delicious and warm? Yes. Seems to be a local spot so definitely recommend checking them out.

my husband and i were running errands in the area, and needed to kill some time for shops to open so we stopped in for breakfast. it was a random pick of the bunch, and soooo glad we came. we were greeted by a very nice gentleman, who seated us and also put a small heater on to warm our area up! we ordered our food from our very attentive waitress, and man let me tell you was it the bomb. breakfast is my favorite meal so this being as great as it was took me over the top! they even gave us complimentary espresso shots of a mexican espresso made with cinnamon, vanilla, and chocolate. so freaking good. anyway, sorry for the life story, but i hope if this is a place on your list to check out, that you do! 10000% worth it.

Wanted to try something different for breakfast. Entered with high expectations only to quickly become disappointed! Arrived at 10:18am food came COLD at 10:53. The wait wasn t the issue as I expect longer service smaller establishment! It was the COLD FOOD after waiting! Ordered a delivery thru Uber Eats. What a gem of a place! The fried catfish was easily the best I have ever tasted! The outer cornmeal coating and seasonings used were perfection. It was cooked exactly right, a bit of a crunch biting in and the inside so nice and flaky- I highly recommend it! The description only gave the option on picking one side, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it also came with a side salad and soup! The country potatoes were like homemade potato chips only better, soft but crispy at the same time. The vegetable beef soup was outstanding and most definitely not out of a can. The portion was generous and I loved every single thing about this entree. We also ordered the hamburger steak and while it was delicious I was a bit underwhelmed overall. After opening the catfish to go box and seeing the portion size then opening the hamburger steak, there was a distinct difference. Yes it also came with soup and salad, however the hamburger steak was almost hidden under grilled onions and mushrooms and a bit on the small size. I wish it would have also come with a potato option. Overall I was extremely satisfied with Moms Cafe. They are a breakfast/lunch cafe, I wish they had some extended hours for dinner - if the rest of their menu is half as good as what I ordered I could eat there multiple times a week!

Long time diner. It s getting expensive to eat there, same as other places. It s a vicious cycle of inflation causing prices to go up, then people eat out less and then business fail. Anyway, the veggie omelette was good. I like the way the broccoli stays crunchy. The cabbage hash browns are great. Hubby liked his corn beef hash order but said the biscuit needs to be better. He said it s like a Bisquick type biscuit. Needs to be flaky or something. Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian I have eaten here a lot. I don t expect a vegetarian section. The atmosphere was homely, the service was great. The food sadly was not. I had their chicken fried chicken cowboy breakfast. The potatoes were seasoned very well, fresh and tasted best of the lot. Alas it all went downhill from there on. I wanted my eggs poached which they overcooked, yolks white and hard instead of runny gold! The gravy was bland, made everything soggy. Was a great place buy i went for lunch today and the server alloweda guy carrying a small dog in and sat them across the isle from me.Had a pink service vest on. New LAW they must ne registered as eeal servicr dogs Red ceritfied vest and by mo means can be carried. Just lost my business. I love my dogs as much as ANYONE but I know their boundaries.

We were looking for some place for brunch in Allen and this place came in suggestion. Near to Allen downtown done really beautifully . Gives us vintage breakfast place vibe. Food options are also quite huge. People working are awesome . They followed up on us if we have everything and all. Only thing was good could had been more better . Hot chocolate and Mexican coffee was good. Fried and breakfast potatoes were seasoned really well and looked tempting . Veggie burger was pretty average and chicken breakfast we had was having well done egg instead of poached. The bed of bread became way too soggy . Probably if toasted well would have not turned soggy . Chicken was ok only .

Owner really tries to help out the local youth with jobs and encourages bettering themselves through education and work. 2021: Best breakfast experience in Allen. Great food ranging from Mexican and American breakfast standards at a high quality, and the nicest manager around. Ive visited a couple of times this past month and been amazed at all the food. They have perfect pancakes with a crispy outside but soft and cakey inside, and the egg varieties are all exquisite. The service is beyond spectacular, as it is hard to leave without a smile on your face. Probably one of the best eating experiences around town I very strongly recommend. Update 2022: I came back recently. Still the best around town. The food is amazing. Cafe de Olla or Mexican coffee is still one of the best coffees Ive had. Update 2023: Moms Cafe is a must when Im in the area. Absolutely wonderful food, service and atmosphere. Francisco keeps adding fresh new things on the menu and they are worth coming back for. I recommend the new cinnamon roll pancakes for those with a sweet tooth! Vegetarian options: Veggie Chilaquiles are amazing.

This was a random stop by for us. We were searching for a taco place, couldn t find it and boy am I soooo glad we didn t! Honestly, before we walked in I thought we were going to be eating at a diner (classic American diner food). Could have been exhaustion from the heat, or maybe how the decor on the outside is, but we had no idea what was waiting for us on the inside, and it saddens me to think if we didn t stop we would have missed out on a great meal and meeting great people. When you walk in you are greeted with big hole hearted smiles. Once sat at a table the manager (I believe that was his title), Francisco, was friendly attentive and just overall a wonderful human being. You felt immediately loved and after working outside and feeling the stress of the week, this is just what was needed. Then, we ordered and the food came. Holy cow guys! It was amazing! I ordered the breakfast burritos with their homemade chorizo and home potatoes! Amazing!!! Ate every last bite! My friend ordered the Guajillo Chilaquiles moment of silence as we devoured our food. Thank you for opening such a wonderful place. We will be back!!!

Friends love this place and suggested we try it out. We came in and really liked the decorations on the wall, very cool indeed. The menu can be completely overwhelming as there are so many options to choose from. I liked all the differences. Since we arrived at brunch time my wife got the French toast and I got the Cowboy Chicken. The plate was huge and full of food which was awesome. The biscuits were nice and fluffy. The chicken and breading was awesome. I loved the hashbrowns, as they were just the right crisp. My wife thought the French toast good, but could have been a bit more crispy. The bacon was great as well. The prices are between 10-20 a plate which seems to be the norm lately. We did see people get the peach tea and a frappe which bother look delicious and something to get next time The staff was very nice and attentive. Will come back again!

It has a sign in the window announcing new owners. In my opinion whoever that is , they have ruined a good restaurant. The prices are ridiculous and the food is not as good as it used to be. The pancakes were dry enough to choke me unless they were drowned in syrup. Who wants to pay $12 for a normal breakfast you can get most places for about $8. And $3.25 for a cup of coffee? I don t think so. No wonder at lunch the parking lot was empty.
