I went to return some merchandise and it has been over 30 days so I got a merchandise card which I was good with. The lady helping me named Jamie was awful. Very rude and lacked any kind of customer service skills. Proceeded to try and tell me how to raise my animals. I won t go back there.

I had a good experience. My first thought was negative because I noticed the price increase in the dog food I buy every month for my dogs. Im dissabled and dont have a lot of money every month. My dogs need a certain one the other brands and types really are hard on their digestion. Thankfully I found out you price match. I know almost $7 doesnt sound like a lot but every bit helps. Andrew took care of me at the counter. He was friendly and helpful. Thank you for the great service!

Well, I am really disappointed in the US retail industry and this Petco location seems to symbolize all that is wrong. Poor service, inadequate product knowledge, rude employees, under equipped to do their jobs. Terrible experience trying to return a 49 cent dead fish, thats right 4 dimes, 4 pennies, and one nickel. Guess Ill find another place to find my fish and anything else closely related to a pet. p.s. I dont give 1 star unless the company is unethical...two stars is the worst I give and this place deserves the rating. p.s.s. After I wrote the rating above, I read other reviews and I am super put off by the AI or other non-human, non-sincere, non-effective responses. Please save the money you are spending on responses. I recommend you invest the money your corporation is investing in robots and hire people who care.

I ve given 2 stars because my 10 lb Yorkie looks fine. But I ve been overcharged for about 3-4 years. I only take her about 3 times per year because I can t afford more. I ve taken her several times in Arlington TX & 2 or 3 times in Abilene TX. Just the basic wash & cut done each time. After all the times that I ve used them- I ve been charged for a small dog instead of an extra small dog. No Petco employee has informed me that I was being overcharged. I ve interacted with several AND I have always tipped the groomer. I won t go back. I received a message regarding my less than stellar review. See below. They re really sorry that I ve been overcharged all this time but not sorry enough to offer a refund for the overcharges. How about that? It says a lot imo. Changed to 1 star bc it s as low as I can get.

I have been a loyal customer of petco for years.my little Pom Toby is groomed here.i buy food ,toys ect.several days ago I was in to buy my grand dog some treats.the clerk ask did i want to contribute to the animal fund to which I reply no thank you not at this time.she say well that s up to you.its your decision.i said yes,yes it is.why did you say that ? It all escalated from that as you can see on tape I m sure.i am a 70 year old man that has never been talked to ,down to for such as that.as you can imagine I won t be back.i can only invite anyone that may have recorded the incident to please share,post on social media.in hopes it will go viral

I was greeted and offered help which is nice considering this is no longer the norm when it should be in retail and service industry. Im far from a neat freak, and even I was taken aback at how dirty the floor was. It looks like it has not seen a broom or a mop is quite sometimes.

Had a very unsatisfactory experience. Jamie the cashier was rude and dismissive to our needs , we opened an account and she refused to talk to the me the mother of teen trying to start an account for first time . She kept turning her face to ignore me and ask my teen questions.She acted like we were bothering her and I felt she was angry to be working. I was going to get my grandaughter a beta but signage was deceptive and we thought we were purchasing a beta for 7.99 but it rang up 24.99 when I told her no were not paying that when sign says 7.99.so she deleted purchase and we left. But before that transaction I spent 100 on my teen daughter aquarium and accessories. I felt totally disrespected and angry my experience was so ridiculously bad and cashier had no clue how customer service works , i regret going to your store .Please Train better .

Took my dog in for a MUCH needed grooming and was not disappointed. They did an AMAZING job! He came out all fluffy and smelling wonderful. I was also really impressed that they were able to clip his nails, as it s always been a struggle for me (he will not let me). Customer service is great as well. Price is more than fair. I highly recommend!

I was once a very regular and loyal customer, however I will not step foot back into any Petco due to my experience here. On my recent visit I noticed a terrible smell upon entering. The staff members were not friendly. After finalizing someone to purchase fish for our tank at home, I was questioned about my size of tank, how long I had had it, and ultimately they refused to sell me 6 fish under 1 inch each and two microscopic shrimp for a currently fishless 5 gallon tank with established water. The young and unfriendly employee (wish I had gotten her name) acted as if I was a fish abuser and called two other employees over. Gabby the manager was just as unhelpful. I didn t realize that purchasing fish was going to lead to an interrogation and ultimate refusal. It is actually humorous, because just six months prior I had adopted a kitten from the same location without any questions being asked. I would not recommend this Petco location due to cleanliness, extremely poor customer service and bizarre ethics.

I have been coming here loyally for years & have Always loved it, until my most recent experience. I bought an item on 9/29/23, the associate that helped me was AMAZING I believe her name was Jaime. However she told me that if the item did not work I could return it with a fullll refund. Well sure enough the item did not work for my pet, so I returned it on Sunday 10/1/23. Before doing the return I called that morning to make sure the info I got was correct, I was told in the phone if I return it with my receipt and since it had only been 2 days then yes I would get a full refund. I took the item to the store the cashier started my return and had to call the managers name a total of 7 times before he looked up briefly, she again said his name and myself and the clerk both had to wave him over. His name is Drew. I explained to him again why I was returning the item, & showed my receipt he then told me he could not give me a refund only store credit. I told him I had spoken to multiple people who stated I could get a refund and he refused to do so handing me a gift card for store credit. I informed him this would not be okay as I now have to take my pet to the vet and I need my money back as I spend well over $100. I contacted corporate who also stated their policy is in fact a full refund no matter the price of the returned item. That if I refused store credit I should have in fact received my money back. I was told I would get a call from the general manager within 24-48 hours. Well I never got a call. However I have been keeping contact with corporate who keeps stating the GM keeps closing out my case. It has now been a week. I am very irritated that I am being brushed under the rug and I am demanding that someone contact me about my refund and my money be put back on my card because this is ridiculous. I will be contacting corporate for the 5th time today. It s sad I loved this store and am a rewards member, but after this I will not be back

We always get our dog groomed here and I ve never had an issue until recently. Somehow my Petco account got merged with my parents account (who live in Utah) so when my dog has been ready the past few times they haven t been calling us they have been calling my parents. Since we knew of this issue we brought our dog in on Saturday 9/23/23 and told Skylar about this issue and had him write down the correct number and confirmed with him multiple times that he was going to call us when our dog was ready. After waiting 5 hours I decided to check with my parents who are elderly and do not answer phone calls from unknown numbers. They had a voicemail about our dog where Skylar identified himself with the status of our dog. When we went to pick up our dog I waited at the grooming counter for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged that I was there. When I asked to speak with a manager a man who had walked past me several times while I was waiting was brought to me. I was only given a customer service phone number so I could get the account situated but it was not addressed how they would be handling how their employee Skylar wasted our time. This was a very frustrating experience and I feel like my concerns were not heard with the on duty manager.

Took our puppy to her very first grooming appointment, only for them to call us 5 mins after leaving saying our dog was thrashing too much to be groomed. Mind you, my wife and I have had to use clippers with her to clean her up as she was a rescue, and all it took was a little attention and love to get her to tolerate it. I don t think they even tried to do her grooming or make it a good first experience for her. She s only 25 lbs and not an aggressive breed, so I feel like they didn t try at all. A huge waste of time and a lunch hour gone to be called within 5, yes FIVE minutes of leaving the store to come get her. Again, I am not a professional but I ve been able to manage some light grooming and we ve even bathed her, just took a little more TLC that they were clearly unwilling to give. Look for a local groomer who cares about their work.

The people here DO NOT care about reptiles. Snakes need to be put on jungle bedding or something similar not Aspen as it just dries them out and makes shedding painful. Corporate contacted them and it got better for like a week and then went back to the same thing. Ball pythons need 50 percent or higher humidity (and thats on the low end) and they have them at 30 percent or lower. Look at the poor gecko he has stuck shed and they dont care. The snake simply needs a moist towel and a day, and that shed could be gone. Its painful for creatures to be in a stuck shed. This can even cause them to go blind. PETCO YOU NEED TO HIRE PEOPLE THAT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS. NOT IDIOTS THAT JUST TALK ABOUT STORE POLICY AND WHAT THEY CANT DO. EVERYONE WHO WORKS AT THIS STORE YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES AND I WISH IT WAS YOU IN THE TANK AND NOT THEM.

I used to really love petco. But I went in and no one could help me with a snake.. I really wanted to by a snake,but the kid said that everyone was scared of snakes except for the person cleaning the tanks in a diffrent area. He didnt even try to ask the person not scared if snakes if they could help. He just kept making excuses and he was way to scared to even try and grab the snake for us. I understand being scared but why work at a pet store if you are scared of what you are selling?? We were willing to pay 300$ there and his attitude to working and not wanting to help is was ridiculous! I think petco needs to rethink some of their new hires or start training them on how to handle their animals... We wont be going back! This whole visit just left a sour taste in my mouth and Im still upset about it!!!

Went in and found a dog exercise yard and wanted to price match it for what is online. They said they couldnt and even tho I could order it online and pick up same day I had to go through the ordering process so I could get it as the online price. Had to at an extra 10 min for the head cashier person to come and approve or so we could get it. Then after it was all said and done, we were finally able to leave but had to jump through hoops just to get it.

5 stars because Abby is awesome! She spent 45 minutes with us and explained what we needed for our new rats, she really cared. We had so many questions and didn t know anything. She knew what cage we should get, what rats can play with or what they won t like. She let our kid interact with the rats. Not just your typical stop and shop but a true experience. We are so glad she was there tonight and she was a great advisor to us.

I started doing business with Petco bc their parking lot was convenient. The brand of pet food I buy, overpriced in my opinion, is not always available, but in today s post covid crisis world I can t hold them entirely accountable. However . . . upon checking out with a dozen cans of cat food yesterday they wanted to know if it was okay to charge me a dime for a plastic bag. I asked what my alternative was and the cashier told me I could carry the cans to my car myself. She pointed to a sign posted by mgt stating the action was an effort to lower their plastic footprint and improve the environment. Sounds admirable, doesn t it? But I call BS. They could have switched to paper bags, which are biodegradable. They could have offered their customers a nickel discount for bringing their own bags, paper or otherwise. But they didn t. I think their motivation was more along the corporate lines of cutting spending and making additional profit at the expense of their customers. And they just lost my business!

We took our 2 fur babies there today for a bath and one of them needs a deshedding service. They quoted us $130 for both. So we said ok. We come.back to pick them up and now theyre saying the total is $204. I told them the quote was $130 and only one of them.needs deshedding. She said its because they used the upgraded essential something something shampoo. Long story short we settled for $175 and they have the audacity to ask for a tip so of course I said no. They lied to us about the quote and over charge us and now they want a tip on top of that? I dont think so. We are not going back here again. My advice to others make sure to make them print out the quote before leaving your pets with them.

Need to train their fish department. I went in once to get a rainbow shark. The associate beat all the fish up in the tank. I walked away. The second time I tried to buy a butterfly loach, and the associate pounded the acrylic container against the counter, killing the fish.

Steph was one of the worst workers I have every encountered at Petco and I love bringing my dogs there for the kind service and very helpful advice but today was a different story not only was steph rude and refused to sell a fish, she made assumptions on the situation that was not even true. One of there worst visits to Petco I have ever had so not recommended if you are looking to start or maintain a fish tank

I went here to purchase a parakeet and ended up bringing home two. The store was clean and the staff was super friendly. The only complaint I have is that they didnt have any bird cages except for one kind. The birds were many different colors from blue to green to white. I was looking for a selection and thats exactly what they had. 10/10 will go there again if I ever want anymore little birds.

Horrible customer service on-line. There s no way to reach them with an email and they simply do not answer their phone, even if you are on hold for 30 minutes. Their team of groomer# in Abilene are great but the customer communications is terrible. They must not realize there are more than one companies offering excellent pet care. Very frustrated!

I will not be shopping at petco again. The local one is clean and affordable. However they take forever to get someone to the fish department. My biggest problem with them though is I placed an order online, they took the money off my card. I went to the store and 99% of my order wasnt there. I called corporate to get a refund. They said they wouldnt do anything. I called the main supervisor and he said yes they did pull the money off my card, however he didnt do anything about it. I still have not received my money back and it been months now. They just dont care very poor customer service. Update: I have now called customer service, supervisors, the corporate office. They still wont refund my money. I have lost almost $100 cuase of this stores poor, and I mean very poor customer service.

Smell is really strong nasty when you walk in. Bathrooms were flithy. Pee on and around toilet. Service was okay. I tried to return something same day within hours of a purchase on a cc and wouldnt refund because i didnt have an account with them. I wont be back. First time in was my last.

Store is clean and overall smells nice, but their reptile and fish department is depressing. All the animals look sad and malnourished, there were bags of fish in the tank that I guess that they forgot to reintroduce and about 50% were floating and dead. Went to get crickets and meal worms of which all of the tubs were dead. It is like an animal Apocalypse back there. If they do not have the staff, they do not need to have any sort of live animals right now. Just stick to food and supplies. It was very very sad.

I bought 6 bags of gravel and am setting up my new 120 gallon tank. Only 4 were sent. I need them like today and nobody knows where the other 2 bags are. The store doesnt have any in stock. I have a house full of family coming tomorrow and I cant set my tank up because I need all 6 bags of gravel. O called the store and the girl told me they were very busy and she didnt have time to check the back. I drove up there and another lady said they didnt store stuff like that in the back.

I went in there just to redeem a coupon for a free bag of dog food, but ended up wandering around looking at everything they had. What a nice store this is! They have just about anything for just about any kind of pet. I learned that they have a fish adoption program where I can get free fish for my aquarium. How cool is that? The cashier I spoke with was friendly and knowledgeable.
