Outstanding service, beautiful restaurant, nourishing food. Thank you. This restaurant has always made patrons feel like family and provided a staple dietary choice. From what we understand as we have been told that the restaurant is unlikely to be around much longer due to the business side of it involving the real estate angle. Not sure what a lot of the people on here are used to because I have to say we were very dissapointed. I appreciated the shade for parking. The restaurant was shoes sticking to the floor dirty and smelled like old sweat. The buffet was dirty and sticky. The food had no flavor. Sorry but cleaning the place would go a long way.

Weve been coming to this restaurant for many years and recently its gone down hill quite a bit. Tonight I had rice, mushrooms, catfish, and the spring rolls. most all of the food on my plate was stale and the rice was very sticky and some parts hard. The waitress did not come offer refills. And the atmosphere was very quite, and awkward. there was no music, each table could hear the others conversation unless you were whispering. We definitely have made the choice not to return to China star.. its a 0 out of 10 for us.

This is by far the worst Chinese restaurant Ive ever been in. Ive been in several all over the country. Everything was sticky. From the plates sticking to the table to our shoes on the floor and its carpet. Its the most bland food ever! And $7.50 for sweet tea and never got a refill. Theres so much steam coming from the food bar with nowhere to go its a sauna so disappointed.

We always eat here when we drive to Abilene. This place has certainly gone downhill. The ladies restroom was dirty and the toilet paper on the floor and it smelled. My husband said the mens restroom smelled, was dirty with black mildew.

I loved getting Egg drop soup to-go every time I got sick as a kid, now as an adult, I still love it. I m very surprised to see they have much of the same staff since I was 3 years old, but that s a bit of the joy of it. I m glad they got to watch me grow over the years and enjoy every bit of this restaurant. I wish everyone working here very well in life. The food was excellent, but went to pay signed the ticket added a tip went to wall out the door and the young girl starts saying it declined the card. Gave her another card she says it declined that then gave her a third card she said it declined that so I told her it has to be her machine so she puts the card in manually and her machine froze. The older Korean lady comes over and by now I have pulled my bank account up and it shows where the first time went through and the older lady starts screaming at us telling us we have to go to the bank and fix the problem. So we needed up being charged twice and not having either refunded so beware and beware of the rude unprofessional older lady. She s very rude and does not need to be in customer service

This place has really gone down hill. The restaurant was dirty. The food at the buffet tasted terrible. It was old like it has been there for hours. The serving utensils were sticky. The waitress never came back to check on us. Some of the dishes were burned and the bread was rock hard. When we complained to the owner they were offended and rude. They did not apologize or offer to make it right. My wife said the food was disgusting and the owner called her disgusting.

Last night 11/14/2023 was the first time me and my wife had been there in years. The food was TERRIBLE! Ever have BBQ ribs that taste like maraschino cherries? Ever had braised mushrooms that were sickening SWEET? Even the ice cream ( soft serve) wasnt mixed correctly and was TOO SWEET. After getting home I got sick and after a few hours my wife did too!!!!! And to top it all off they charge 12.99 for each plate and 2.50 for tea. 33.54 total to get sick! NEVER NEVER NEVER going there again.

I loved take out because I get off work late and rather than cooking I want my favorite food. Which is mostly is Chinese food. I hardly make it habit to eat take out at China Star. In these last 2 years 2022 -2023 The food has been either over cooked or raw. This last time was over cooked. All the meat is too hard to chew, Except for the shrimp. Even the egg rolls and spring rolls were burnt. As for the customer service I feel uncomfortable, They were watching me making my go to plate and even left the front desk to do so. Once I pay they didn t mention why they were watching me. One of the staff even walked me out. Didn t mention a word like have a good day. This will be my last time going to china star. If I could I rate 0 stars Why waste my hard working money on raw food and over cooked food. I gave this restaurant many chances. Since I ate at this restaurant with my family when I was younger.

I recently dined at China Star on September 22nd, and I must say I was quite disappointed with both the food and housekeeping conditions. While the staff was exceptionally nice, the overall care of the facility left much to be desired. The condition of the buffet area needed to be cleaned as the backsplash was stained and the glass covering at the buffet was nasty. The bathrooms had the stickiest floor which is due to not changing out the mop water or using a cleaning solution. Lets start with the food. I had high expectations based on the memories I had as a child, but the quality of the food was poor. The flavors were bland, and the presentation lacked creativity. It felt like the kitchen was cutting corners in terms of quality. For the price I paid, I expected a more memorable dining experience. The best item we had was the Jell-O and thats saying something. Moving on to the housekeeping, I couldnt help but notice the poor condition of the facility. The tables and floors were visibly dirty, and it was clear that maintenance was lacking. This detracted from the overall ambiance and made it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. Cleanliness should be a basic expectation, especially in a place of this caliber. I do want to reiterate that the staff was courteous and attentive, which was a redeeming factor in an otherwise disappointing visit. However, I hope the management takes steps to address these issues to provide a better experience for future guests. I am sadden to see the downward spiral of this establishment as it once was the best Chinese buffet in Abilene at one time.

What a bad experience with out even eating there, order from their website just to create a cart and went there to order it. There was very nice and polite young girl at the counter as i read from the cart i created one on the soup said on the web site has pork in it (Hot and Sour) this lady came to the counter from the back and with a very flat face no pork in it I said its say on you web site menu, she said i am standing telling you no pork i said i understand that but still on your website, I continued to order she stood there watch over that cashiers shoulder. I ordered house fried rice and said please make sure no pork in it also, that lady gave a dirty look stare and walked back around and started to talking to some one else which i could hear in the front She said I dont know what the hell this guy problem, dont know how to order I walked to that side and said if you going to talk about me please do it to my face she came out all upset and yelling, i told the cashier i am sorry I dont want the food from here and walked out towards my car, this lady cake after me to the front door keep yelling at did not understand a word she was yelling at me. There were plenty of good choices. The foods that ran low were quickly refilled. 5 kinds of shrimp, muscles, pot stickers, spicy, and mild options. My only real complaint was the number of non edible bits in the mix. Skin, fat, crispy bits that werent meant to be. My waiter was a nice kid and was trying really hard to do a good job. We had the buffet, which was $13.00 plus tax for each of us. Some of the heated buffet food that should have been hot was cool, some luke-warm and some food was hot. The flavors were okay and not so exciting or in my expectations of Asian foods and for wanting Chinese food for a change. I have had far better Chinese food in San Franciso, California, and Dallas, Texas, for that matter. The next time I want Chinese food, I will try the other resturants in Abilene, Texas, and see how they are in taste and quality. The waitress was a little bossy, smart off about the buffet food, and that stuck in my mind and not so kind.

Were not aware of closure due to roaches and or rats. Only two cars in parking lot. Thought it was still closed, so look up recent news and yes, they were closed. How many times this time. Surely there has to be a limit on how many times you are closed before being closed for good ? Anyhow, we looked it over. Not good. Hours of operation 4pm till 9 or whatever, which explains that Food was dried up. Some not even heated ( probably to cut cost ) and all in all. Nothing looked any good or safe to eat considering it was made prior to 4 pm but most likely left over from previous day or worse. So sad. Used to be a good place to eat Chinese food but that time has come and gone. So long from now on from this family that remembers when it opened and Sees what it has become.

What used to be our favorite restaurant, China Star has really gone downhill. If the food was half as good as the old days, I could possibly stomach the nasty carpet and chairs.

I cannot tell you how I was able to get in their kitchen. But I will say that it is in my profession to visit the insides of restaurant kitchens. And believe you me this kitchen is unbelievably disgusting. I would not in good conscience let anyone I care about consume food from that place. It was very heartbreaking for me to find out that a restaurant I liked so much was so irresponsibly disgusting and that theyre rodent problem at the time was out of control. Maybe theyve done better. But its too late for me to ever go back there again after seeing what I saw

If I could give 0 stars I would! We have always liked this place but today the food was just plain awful!! Green beans were ice cold , fish is raw and broccoli beef and chicken tastes spoiled, chicken was hard and dried out it was as if they were serving week old food, we told our waitress but got no response from management.. just a 40+ dollar bill for food we literally COULD NOT EAT the dessert cake was all we could even stomach definitely NOT worth the price and we will not be back!!

China Star offers a variety of food dishes. The dining room is usually very clean as is the buffet area. We have visited this establishment at least 3 times. Their tea often tastes unusual and requires us to switch drinks. Some of the food items on the buffet are cold when they should be hot. Have also became ill after eating here on 2 different occasions.

I ve been coming to this restaurant since i was a teenager. I remember having good experiences back then. I m not sure what changed, but the ladies that work up front at the cashier station are rude and moody!! Borderline disrespectful depending on the day. Another time a server was aggressive to my elementary age daughter bc she didn t know what she wanted to drink, I won t spend a dollar there again. I m not a complainer but this restaurant s not what i remember. If i could could give a -5 stars i would. I recommend buffet king. Much more variety and the worker s are much more kind.
